Discussion What Other Commitments Required ?– Publicity of GC15 within BV Section's reach, i.e., newsletter and email announcement

of GC 15 program and encouragement of attendance from BV Section: members and non-members.

– Organize Entrepreneurs/Universities/Colleges with focus on Communications from BV area, to take a booth in the Exhibit Hall (cost would be <$300 or better, depending on how you can negotiate with Frank Chang, the IF&E Chair, who also resides in BV area.)

– Elect Women and Young Professionals to attend GC15 with certain subsidy from BV Section and GC15 Organizing Committee. This proposal needs to have GC approval.

– Mobilize BV Section students to volunteer and participate in GC15. • Run a bus of engineering students to volunteer at the GLOBECOM 2015 as indicated by attachments in

email below. Students can be a room monitor while also obtaining the privilege to attend some of the industry/technical program throughout the day.

• The same bus could also invite IEEE professional members or life-members to go down to San Diego and interacting with people who are presenting the newest research and development programs in Communications Industry.

• Bus and member registration fees would have to work out with BV Section and any amount that requires GLOBECOM to subsidize can be submitted for the GC15 Organizing Committee for discussion. There is a good chance that GC Organizing Committee would share the cost, based on its current Patron Level commitment (> $300,000.)

– ComSoc Chapter could elect 1 member to attend GC15 free. BV Section might have to pay for the registration, possibly transportation and lodging.

Potential Earnings From Invested Effort in GC2015

IEEE Communications Society 80% IEEE San Diego Section 10%* IEEE BuenaVentura Section 10%* *The IEEE San Diego Section and the IEEE BuenaVentura Section agrees to be a 10% each financial co-sponsor with the IEEE

Communications Society in for the Conference. Only at-the-event surplus/loss proceeds will be considered for distribution. Post-event proceeds are not included in this agreement. Any surplus distributed through this agreement will be used for improving and expanding the activities of the local IEEE ComSoc Chapter and IEEE San Diego Section and IEEE BuenaVentura Section.

Financially participating IEEE San Diego Section and IEEE BuenaVentura Section commits to a 10% each investment share for the Conference. Upon issuance of the Conference’s final profit/loss statement, up to the first $US 100,000.00 of any net surplus will be prorated to the co-financially sponsoring IEEE San Diego Section and IEEE BuenaVentura Section in accordance with their investment percentage. Should a net loss occur, IEEE San Diego Section and IEEE BuenaVentura Section does hereby agree to reimburse the IEEE Communications Society their investment percentage of the first $100,000.00 of any net loss incurred. In no case will an entity be liable for any financial losses exceeding the amount of its percentage share.

In addition, the “first $100,000.00 of any net surplus” may be expanded to “the first $US 200,000.00 of any net surplus” at the sole discretion of the Conference General Chair depending upon the degree of participation of the local Sections or Chapters in the administration of the Conference.

About GlobeCOM 2015

IEEE GLOBECOM is one of two flagship conferences of the IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc), together with IEEE ICC. Each year the conference attracts about 3000 submitted scientific papers and dozens of proposals for industry events. A technical program committee of more than 1,500 experts provides more than 10,000 reviews, and from this a small fraction of the submitted papers are accepted for publication and presentation at the conference. The conference meets once a year in North America and attracts roughly 2000 leading scientists, researchers and industry practitioners from all around the world. IEEE GLOBECOM is therefore one of the most significant scientific events of the networking and communications community, a must-attend event for scientists, researchers and networking practitioners from industry and academia.

IEEE GLOBECOM is a five-day event. Two days are dedicated to tutorials and workshops, while the remaining three days are dedicated to the IF&E program and the technical symposia. The program of the technical symposia includes oral or poster presentations of about 1000 scientific papers, grouped into 12 thematic symposia, and more than 15 parallel sessions. In addition to the technical program, IEEE GLOBECOM 2015 will feature an industry forum and exhibition (IF&E) program, including industry-focused workshops, tutorials, keynote talks from industrial leaders, panel discussions, a large exposition, and business and industrial forums.
