About the ProjectThe Dream a dream project was developed by Mrs. Marsha Goren of Ein Ganim School Israel in 2000 and first met the Internet in 2001. The idea started as a vehicle to encourage children and educators to share in a learning environment that would lead to global communication and tolerance. Dream a dream at Ein Ganim prompts students at Ein Ganim and around the world to join in multicultural projects that capture student’s thinking in a visual way. It inspires children to take a deeper look at the world by exploring, exchanging ideas and using research tools, supporting a positive learning environment and a shared learning experience. Because of the war between Israel and the Palestinians which began in December 2008, we decided to invite schools to join in our peace project.

About the Project

The children felt the need to express their feelings on the subject together with many of our partners around the world. Our peace project aims to encourage cross cultural communication and promote global understanding, while helping children to expand their knowledge in technology, support the use of new educational technologies. The educational value of teaching about peace was essential and the results of the work we received from our partners is indeed heartwarming. More than 50 schools from around the world have taken part in this project as of today.

A Letter written by children during the war between Israel and the Palestinians

Dear people from all over the world,Most of you might have heard already about the war in Israel. Though this war is new, there has always been a war in this little country. I don't think a year has passed without at least one attempt to take over the north or south. The center of the country (which is where we are) has always been well protected, but the bombs are falling closer, and I am afraid that we won't be protected for much longer. Though both sides have a reason to continue fighting, I think that if the leaders of both sides sat together and had a long, reasoned discussion they would see that fighting is close to pointless.

John Lennon's song "Imagine" (1971) displays a solution to this problem, but I'm afraid it would be impossible because not many people would be able to lay aside their differences, "be as one", and "share the world" Many members of my class wonder why our allies cannot help us. Our teacher always answers that then Gaza's allies would help them, and it would turn into World War 3.Several comedy programs have tried to joke about the situation to make people forget and laugh, and though their jokes amuse the live audience and people watching from home, I do not know what impression it makes on the residents of the south. Our school has accepted a few students from the south, but a very limited number are willing to come.

Though it is safer here, they seem to feel more protected with the soldiers or something. They also don't want to leave their families, friends, and possibly pets. It might also be hard to leave the familiar streets and roads of their neighborhoods. It might take time for them to get used to this new routine. We are not the only side that has suffered losses. We must never forget the suffering of the families in Gaza. On the other side of the border (and perhaps on the border), other families are suffering like ours, and maybe more. The point of this letter is that war is pointless, and I hope that one day, it doesn't matter how far away that day is, there will be no more war.Thank you for reading this.Gaya
