MAIN ADVANTAGES

DOUBLE FLOW HIGH PERFORMANCE VENTILATION UNITSSince 1997, Lemmens has specialised in the design and manufacture of dual flow ventilation units with energy recovery.From the outset, it adopted the principle that “energy recovery means the search for efficiency… it is therefore absurd to seek to recover heat energy without seeking to minimize power consumption”.It opted for the systematic integration of fans equipped with high performance DC motors (TAC technology). With this technology, the HR line anticipated the most demanding levels of energy requirements to come, such as those set by the new standards ErP2018.Over time, it has developed more extensive and effective control. The most recent (TAC5) is at the forefront of the technology, due both to its internal functionality and its opening via communication (Modbus, TCP/IP, BACnet, KNX).

PLUG-AND-PLAY UNITSThe GLOBAL ventilation units are supplied as plug and play devices. The basic functions are pre-programmed and accessories are pre-installed, pre-wired and pre-configured in factory. Once the remote control module has been connected, all that needs to be done is to switch the unit on and to change the pre-configured parameters if needed.

ACCESS – FOR OPERATORSThe units’ generously sized doors ensure easy access. All of the components are easily accessible, inluded the bypass damper and actuator.

SUMMER AND NIGHT TIME COOLINGA modulating 100% bypass is a standard feature on GLOBAL units equipped with counterflow plate heat exchangers. It allows us to ensure the freecooling function and is automatically controlled based upon indoor and outdoor temperatures. The modulating bypass can also be configured to help defrosting of the heat exchanger. All of the components are easily accessible and can be cleaned with a mild detergent.

DAMPERSThe GLOBAL PX units can be factory-fitted with motorised supply air and exhaust air dampers. If so, the TAC controller activates a fan start-up delay when the unit is started. As an option, a spring return actuator is available.

CONTROL MODULESThe integrated TAC5 control system can be connected to: Touchscreen HMI with 4,3” capacitive touchscreen. For configuring and controlling the operation of a heat recovery unit. SAT BA/KW extension of the main controller. Used for extra functions for which inputs and outputs are not included as standard in the control unit of the air handling unit. SAT MODBUS configuration, visual display and controlling the operation via MODBUS RTU.SAT KNX configuration, visual display and controlling via KNX.TCP/IP module communication via the internet (MODBUS TCP/IP protocol) and the heat recovery devices. Web pages are used for the configuration, visual display and operation.BACnet gateway configuration, visual display and controlling via BACnet IP.

TAC5 CONTROLLERThe control equipment is completely integrated into the GLOB-AL PX air handling unit. The controller controls and regulates the temperatures, airflows and other functions. The controller is pre-configured in factory with default settings. The GLOBAL unit has built-in control equipment that can be operated from the hand-held micro terminal in the form of a touchscreen. The safety isolating switch is located on the outside. The electrical and control system is completely integrated into the air han-dling unit. The microprocessor-based equipment controls and regulates temperatures, airfl ows and other functions. A large number of functions are built into the system and are simple to activate. The air handling unit can be automatically controlled in several ways via the built-in timer or main control system, however it can also be demand-controlled e.g. via a CO2sensor. Manual control is also possible.A large number of functions and

settings can be activated/entered via a main control system.

HMI TACtouchThe hand-held user interface is a 4.3” touchscreen and is very very simple and user friendly. The HMI is rendering on-site commissioning intuitive and simple by means of the com-missioning menu. The HMI is equipped with a 2 meter long connection cable and magnets. By means of the magnets, the HMI can be easily fixed on to any metallic surface. The preset values are stored and will not be unaffected in the event of a power failure.

UNIT OVERVIEWGENERAL DESCRIPTION GLOBAL PX

EN1886 CERTIFICATIONEN1886 classification: T3(M)/TB2(M)/F9(R)/L2(R)/D1(R)(*). Optionally available: T2/TB2/F9/L2/D1. The selection software uses the Eurovent certified selection software as sup-plied by our supplier of the counterflow plate heat exchangers and the filters. All relevant Eurovent certification diplomas are published on the technical datasheet as generated by our selection software. The selection software is availbable for download.

CIRCULAR DUCT CONNECTIONSThe duct connections for sizes 04, 05, 06, 08 and 10 are circular and with rubber sealing. The units can be combined with motorised dampers.

FILTERSAll GLOBAL PX units are equipped with bag filters. The filter material is glass fibre. The function of the filter is to keep both the air and the heat exchanger clean. The fresh air bag filter is of class ePM1≥70%, the extract air bag filter is of class ePM10≥50%. An ePM1≥50% filter on the extract air side is not available since this would have a negative influence on the energy consumption. The filters are mounted in locking guide rails in order to facilitate filter replacement and cleaning of the filter sec-tion. The filters guiderials are compliant to the requirements for filter bypass leakage to Class ePM1≥80% (F9) (EN1886). The filter monitor-ing function is integrated in the standard con-figuration of the TAC5 controller. Optionally, a G4 / COARSE prefilter. All the filters are classi-fied both according to ISO EN 16890 and ISO EN 779 and are Eurovent certified: 08.10.44.

BASE FRAMEThe GLOBAL PX units are prefitted with a base frame. The base frame is self supporting. The height of the base frame is 125mm. The base frame has 48mm holes to facilitate lifting by a crane; the base frame has openings in order to facilitate horizontal transport by means of a pallet truck.

INTERNAL PRE-FILTERSPrefilters installed inside the air handling unit can be ordered as optional accessory. Prefil-ters are used when the outdoor air is heavily polluted and it is desirable to prevent the fine filters inside the GLOBAL unit from becom-ing clogged after a short period of use. The prefilters are of Class G4 compact filters. The prefilters are mouted in locking guide rails in order to facilitated removal and inspection.The prefilters guiderials are compliant to the requirements for filter bypass leakage according to EN1886: Class F9. The prefilter monitoring function is integrated in the standard configu-ration of the TAC5 controller.

RECTANGULAR DUCT CONNECTIONSThe standard duct connections (15mm) for sizes 12, 13, 14, 16 and up are rectangular. For the units with rectangular duct connections, several optional accessories are available: Adapter rec-tangular/circular, 20mm slip clamps or even a 30mm connection frame (METU). The units can be fitted with motorised dampers and flexible sleeves.

HIGH PERFORMANCE FANSAs standard, the direct-driven EC fans are equipped with composite fan blades. Option-ally, aluminum fan blades are available. The ad-vantage of the composite fan blades are lower weight and bionically designed rotor blades for almost noiseless conveyance of air. The blades are made from 100% recyclable bio-polyam-ides. All of this is finally resulting in a better SFP value. The fans are dynamically balanced according to ISO1940. Both fans are located at the outdoor air side of the plate heat exchang-er, thus drastically reduding the sound levels emitted to the building. The electronically com-mutated (EC) external rotor motor is equipped with an integrated EC controller. The fan motor protection class is IP54. The powerful EC fans ensure that sufficient external pressure is avail-able, even for high airflows. The efficiency level fulfills the ErP2018 requirements. The fans are dynamically balanced. The balancing of the fans is accordingly the ISO1940 standard and is classified G6.3.

INTERNAL WATER HEATING COIL - IBAThe unit can be equipped with an internal water heating coil. The coil is physically located between the plate heat exchanger and the supply air outlet. The water coil has internal water connections and is deliverd with stainless steel flexible connections in order to connect it to the hydraulical system on the outside of the unit. The water coil is equipped with an anti-frost protection temperature sensor, which is mounted on the surface of the coil.

PLATE HEAT EXCHANGERThe plate heat exchanger is a conterflow heat exchanger , made of seawater-resistant aluminium, with a temperature efficiency ≥91% (EN308). The bypass is proportion-ally controlled in order to meet the need for both heating and cooling and can be used in the frost protection control strategy. In order to minimise the risk of frost build-up, the heat exchanger blocks are installed under an angle. This will facilitate the evacuation of condensate thus minising the risk of ice build-up inside of the heat exchanger. The heat exchangers are both Eurovent (Certificate n° 05.03.243) and VDI6022 certified.

INTERNAL ELECTRICAL HEA-TING COIL - KWOUT / KWINThe GLOBAL PX units can be factory-fitted with an integrated electric heater for pre-heat-ing and an electric heater element for post-heating. The capacity of the coil is modulated in order to maintain a constant temperature in either the suppy air or in the extract air. The electrical post or pre- heating coil are equipped with two overheating protections, one with manual reset and one with automati-cal reset. When the electrical coil is configured, the coil is stopped immediately when the unit is stoppped, however, the fans are kept running for 90 seconds to allow electrical coil to cool down.

UNIT CASINGThe casing of the GLOBAL PX units is fabricated of aluminum profiled sections held together by synthetic corners. The outer skin is made of painted steel sheet, RAL7016. The inner skin is made of galvanized sheet steel. The panel thickness is 50mm with intervening insula-tion consisting of mineral wool. The doors are hung on four hinges, two on every side, with integrated handles.

EXTERNAL COILS - EBAThe GLOBAL PX units can be configured with external coils, fitted in a 50mm insulated casing. Those coils can be water-based of dx heating and/or cooling coils. The capacity of the coil is modulated in order to maintain a constant temperature in either the suppy air or in the extract air. The water heating coil is ready-to-connect and delivered with a 3-way valve controlled by the TAC controller. The TAC5 control system allows for any GLOBAL PX unit to control any combination of coils (water or dx) in cooling only, heating only or change over or cooling and heating.

AIRFLOW OR PRESSUREWhether the ventilation system is operated on the basis of constant pressure or constant airflow or via a 0–10V control system depends on the area of application and the specific on-site requirements. The integrated master/slave control system ensures that operation is always well-balanced.

Constant airflow modeA typical area of application is non-residential buildings, e.g. offices and business premises as well as schools, nurseries and sports halls with stable volumes of air.

Demand control modeAlternatively, the airflow can be automatically adapted in line with the ventilation requirements and on a user-specific basis via the 0–10 V input, e.g. by means of a CO2 sensor, or the control system can be used via the customer‘s building service management/instrumentation and control system.

Constant pressure modeA prime example is undoubtedly apartment buildings with the opportunity to control the ventilation in individual apartments separately. The pressure remains constant even when the ventilation is increased or decreased in one apartment as required, by means of an airflow control unit.The airflow stays the same in all the other apartments, i.e. the ventilation system always runs within the ideal range. An external pressure sensor is required for constant pressure mode.

THE 3 MAIN OPERATING MODES:

Constant Airflow mode The airflow is kept constant, irrespective of external changes in pressure.

Demand control modeA linear voltage/airflow ratio. The airflow can be controlled via a 0–10 Volt signal.

Constant pressure mode The pressure is kept constant, regardless of external changes in pressure. A pressure sensor is required.

The prefilter is installed in the outdoor air section and is physically located befor the fine filter. The prefilter is used in ventilation systems in which the outdoor air is heavily polluted and it is desirable to prevent the fine filter from becoming clogged after a short period of use. According EN-779, the prefilter is of class G4.

The function of the filter is to keep both the air and the heat exchanger clean. Filterclass supply air filter: ePM1≥70%. Filterclass extract air filter: ePM10≥50%. All filters are classi-fied both according to ISO EN779 and ISO EN 16890. To keep the heat exchanger clean, an ePM10≥50% filter class will suffice. ePM1≥50% filter sets are not available on the extract air side, so that there is no negative influence on the energy consumtion of the air handling unit.

The IBA coil uses hot water for post-heating the supply air. The coil is integrated inside the unit and is located between the heat exchanger and the air outlet. The finned-tube heat exchangers consist of copper tubes and aluminum fins with a 2,5mm spacing. The male threaded pipe is made of brass. The coils are equipped with a plug for venting. The coils are classified PN16.

The external insulated casings are fabricated in galvanized steel sheet. the outer sheet is painted in RAL7016. The double-skin panels contain 30mm mineral wool. The casings can be use to integrate external cooling, heating, direct expansion coils (EBA) . The standard connection frame is 15mm, other connection frame types are available as an option: 20mm slip clamps, 30mm “METU” frame. The coil is mounted on a 125mm base frame.

The sleeve is made of fibreglass and are classified “M0” for fire re-sistance, “Class B” for air tightness (EN 15727 and EN 1751). The operating range is from -30°C up to +110°C and for pressures up to 2000Pa. The 30mm “METU” connection frame is made from 1mm thick galvanized steel.

The CT dampers are used as shut-off dampers. Shut-off dampers are used if the air han-dling unit is idle during some period or if a water coil is used. The damper is premounted and prewired in factory. The dampers are made of galvanized steel, the blades of the rec-tangular dampers are made of extruded aluminum. The blades have rubber seals. Accord-ing EN 1751, air tightness of circular dampers is of class 3, the air tightness of rectangular dampers is of classe 2.
