INTERVIEW WITH LCP 13-14TERM
What motivated you to go for DWU
LCP?
I really liked AIESEC when I was 1st year
member and thought that there were unlimited
possibilities and opportunities. However, I
thought out local committee was not taking after
the good side of AIESEC that much. Thus, I
wanted to create and make real global AIESEC
and applied for the position. You really have to
try your best and I also thought that if I become
LCP(Local Committee President), I would develop
my potential talent within me and I expected a
lot of things.
What are the difficulties you faced
while being DWU’s LCP?
There were some times when I had troubles with
my local committee executive board members.
We had some different opinions and could not
persuade each other sometimes. It made me be
exhausted, but I am sure that you improve
things when you try to harmonize these different
ideas.
In my case, I went through hard times in the
beginning of the term. One example is that to
run the meeting with executive board members
effectively was difficult. As I already mentioned,
there were people with different opinions and
ideas with one topic. This was not time for all
people to speak at once, but there were a lot of
opinions from members and my role was to deal
all with that. In the beginning, I try to stop them
in the middle while they were talking and I felt
really sorry for them. They were also not happy
with my behavior. However, if I did not keep
track of time, then we all had to go home late.
In this case, they also scolded me for not
stopping their conversation.
What are the things you learned or
improved by playing the role of LCP?
What I improved mostly is that I am not
confident when speaking in public. When I was a
freshman, whenever I had to do presentations, I
was almost moaning, but it is much better now.
Another thing is that I found out what are my
weaknesses.
One last word for future AIESECers
and non-AIESECers!!
You cannot become a global leader by not
doing anything in AIESEC. One has to search for
opportunities and create one’s own AIESEC
career. If one does not do that, there is no
difference between being part of AIESEC and not
being part of it.

The kakao talk has various functions.
First, the group conversation is one of them.
The message is commonly one-on-one talking,
but Kakao enables people to talk with many
people. Furthermore, we can use ‘group call’
function.
Second, the function it has is sharing things.
We can share pictures, videos, voicemails,
contact number, schedule, location, and make
votes. We can use ‘notice function’ above
screen in order for every person to see it.
Third, various apps are linked with Kakao

Fourth, they have cute emoticon function.
The item stores provide them freely or

Fifth is Gifticon system. We don’t have to
buy gifts by going to the stores and meet the
person who we give that to. We can buy gifts
through Gifticon function. For example, if I
want to give a birthday cake to my friend, I
only have to choose cake type and pay it on
Kakao system. Then, cake coupon is
automatically sent to my friend, he or she will
go to the bakery and exchange cake with the
coupon I sent him or her.
Kakao talk is very useful and convenient!
Kakao talk’s value is more and more increasing
not only in domestic markets but also foreign

“ Happy New Year”
14
Chinese New Year
The story of “Year” monster:
Once upon a time, there was a beast called “Year”. It was
prisoned by the gods in the deep valley. Only once in a year the
beast can have freedom and hanging around. But at the
meantime, “Year” will do great harm to the people and the
livestock in the village. Everyone is afraid of this cruel monster
and don’t know what to do.
But one year, miracle happens! “Year” got out as usual, ready
to get wild and mad. Suddenly, after it saw a piece of red fabric
hanging in front of the house. “Year” stormed out of the village
in fear! People found out that it is afraid of the color red. Also,
people knew that “Year”is terrified when they set off the
firecracker. This is why people will paste the spring festival couplets
and play the firecrackers. Years by years, this is the Taiwanese-style
to celebrate New Year
The customs during the Chinese New Year:
General cleaning: People will start to have general cleaning
before the spring festival, symbolizing sweeping the bad luck
away. [Attention: When it is the first day of the New Year,
sweeping or dusting should not be done on New Year's Day for
fear that good fortune will be swept away
Family reunion dinner: The last day in one year, family in
Taiwan will get together and have reunion dinner. [Attention: All

Korea's hotplace, jjimgilbang
If foreigners visit Korea, jjimgilbang is good place to visit
and experience. Most Koreans visit jjimgilbang with friends,
family, and lovers. Jjimgilbang is the kind of resting area where
people go on weekends or holidays. If you take a trip to other
places, jjimgilbang is likely to be recommended than hotel
because it is much cheaper. Then what is jjimgilbnag
specifically?
In the past, Korea had a heating system called
Ondol. Ondol's principle is that the heat from
burning firewood passes through the room's
floor. The kitchen where fire was used was
connected with rooms so the heat's effect
could possibly last continuously. These Ondol
culture is transformed into jjimgilbang.
Jjimgilbang has lots of theme rooms like ice
room, amethyst room, ocher room, salt room,
high temperature room etc. Each room has
different temperature and concepts. Thus, you
can go around the rooms as you want.
16
There is a food court and snack bar in
the jjimgilbang. Popular foods in
jjimgilbang are sikhye, steamed egg, red
bean sherbet. Sikhye is korea's traditional
sweet beverage. The main ingredient is
rice. The red bean sherbet is made of
ground ice, red bean soaked in sugar
with little pieces of rice cake. Steamed
egg is cooked in a high temperature
room. Unusually the steamed egg's color
is brown not white. In addition, ramen,
dry squid, all kinds of snacks are
available there. Also there is lots of
relaxing area like massage shops, pc
rooms, and mini-cinema.
There is a sauna within the jjimgilbang. It is normal to take sauna after sweating from
jjimgilbang. Sauna is indoor mini spa. Naked people can enjoy various bath types - hot bath, cool
bath, herb bath, boiling bath, event bath etc. Foreigners feel awkward about sauna culture that all
people take off their clothes and take shower together. However, it is natural to Koreans so you
don't have to be aware of other people or be ashamed.
Korea's unique complex cultural space, jjimgilbang! In cold winter, how about relaxing your
tensed body at jjimgilbang? After sweating in hot rooms, taking shower and jumping off the door,
the cool air blows for you!
