The market size of Furniture in France decreased from EUR 9,7 billion in 2008

down to EUR 9,4 billion in 2009.

France: Retail Sales Trends and Volume of the Furniture Market, in EUR billion, and Growth in %, 2000-2009

The month of June is traditionally the weakest in terms of activity. In June 2010 sales increased (1.8%) after two years of

    consecutive decline.

Only the January has set back compared to 2009, the balances have been severely affected by climatic conditions. The other

months have all been positive, with stronger growth in first quarter (3.4%) than in the second quarter (2.2%).

    .

The slight recovery of the housing market gives hope to maintain a slight growth of the furniture market in 2010.

The months September, October, November and December become more and more important for the sector, and will therefore

    be decisive.
