Ethanol & Ethylene Future OutlookSome parts of the world benefit from abundance of ethylene from petroleum, ethane-based feedstock. Nevertheless, the speed of capacity expansion of the naptha or gas cracker does not follow increasing ethylene demand at the same rate and not evenly distributed at the global level.

Ethanol to Ethylene is the answer to secure ethylene supply to remain sustainable in the future and where limited ethane is available. Across the globe, ethanol production is expected to grow 10-15% per annum. Ease of availability of ethanol locally gives advantage to every ethylene (or ethylene derivatives) consumer to remain ahead-of-the-game and maintain a sustainable business.

Ethylene ProductsEthylene produced via ETE route can be selectively defined for downstream applications: Polymer Application (99.9% purity): HDPE, LDPE Chemical Application (99.8% purity): Ethylene Oxide, Ethylene Glycol, MEG, Styrene, EDC, VCM, PVC, etc.

Operational Benefits High conversion rate ethanol to ethylene (min. 99.5% typically), and High selectivity of ethylene (99% typically), such that minimizing generation of by product, such as methane, ethane, propylene, butene, and CO2.

Technology BenefitsAn example of great advantage of this technol-ogy for the downstream ethylene derivatives industry is that the ethanol-based route to ethyl-ene can be economically set up at consumer location without risk and hazard associated with transport of Ethylene oxide. Ethylene Oxide transport as currently being practiced can have catastrophic consequences in case of accidents risk associated with any long distance transport of Ethylene Oxide.
