Every day approximately 800 women die due to complications of pregnancy and child birth, including severe bleeding after childbirth, infections, hypertensive disorders, and unsafe abortions. Of these, approximately 440 deaths occurred in sub-Saharan Africa.

"What an exciting day! For the first time in 10 years our surgical theatre is functional. Dr. Emma performed 2 emergency c-secti0ns. Not only that, but because of the training our staff received a few weeks ago from Dr. Judy, they had the equipment (ambu bags) and the knowledge to resuscitate 2 other babies that had experienced difficult deliveries and were not breathing after they were delivered. That's right, 4 babies and 2 mommas alive tonight that before would not have made it. We are praising God tonight!"
