Accommodation on campus

Your comfortable, convenient second home Helping our ambitious undergraduates settle into campus life and excel academically, UVM requires students to live on campus for the first two years of their degree program. As a Global Gateway Program student, you will be living in the Marsh-Austin-Tupper housing complex. Located in the heart of the student community, it is also conveniently home to the Global Gateway Program support services.

After year two, students can choose to continue to live on campus, or move into an off-campus residency. On-campus accommodation includes traditional two-person dormitory rooms, suite-style housing, or on-campus apartments. Students who wish to live off-campus can rent apartments ranging from a one bedroom studio to a five bedroom house.

Marsh-Austin-Tupper (MAT) comprises three wings, each requiring a key card for access. Male and female students are grouped by floor, and each wing has four floors. You will be assigned a roommate, who may be another Global Gateway Program student, an American student, or an international exchange student.

Additional amenities include:

Fireplace lounge Warm up during the winter months in the cozy lounge space, located in the lobby, complete with comfortable couches and a gas fireplace.

Community kitchen Share your traditional cuisine with your new friends in the community kitchen. Complete with an oven, stove, sink, refrigerator, and plenty of counter space for any dish you desire.

Multipurpose room The lobby of MAT features a multipurpose room that is great for hosting community events or providing a quiet place to study.

Mailboxes Living on campus, you will have access to a locked and passcode-protected personal mailbox to receive packages and letters.

Two-person room Each room comes with two twin-size beds, two desks, and two dressers for comfortable living with your roommate. Dormitory rooms are secured with a key only you and your roommate have.

I live with a Chinese roommate, and I love it. He has been my best friend since I started in the GGP with him. The accommodations are great; there’s a lot of room to personalize it however you want.Alex Gacutan, Ukraine, Class of 2017 Public Communication major

Discover a world of difference To help international students improve their linguistic skills for English proficiency and adapt to university life, we created the Global Gateway Program (GGP). It provides international students with dedicated support to help them achieve success before, during, and after their studies.

Learn and achieveThe 2-term GGP is the equivalent of Year 1 of undergraduate study. Students receive English language support and take courses led by our distinguished faculty. They are provided with the academic tools, supportive learning environment, and the course credits to advance to Year 2 of a Bachelor’s degree.

For students who need additional English language preparation, GGP Intro is a 1-term option that prepares students for the academic coursework in the 2-term program.

Students who have a higher English language level may qualify for a one-term GGP. Upon successful completion, students will enter into the second semester of their Year 1.

Regardless of where you start, you’ll be taught by UVM faculty, taking academic courses with other GGP students and selected elective courses with American students.

Progression degrees After gaining 28-30 academic credits In the 2-term program (the equivalent of Year 1 of a Bachelor’s degree) or 14-15 credits in the 1-term program, students can enroll in nearly 100 degree programs at one of the following:
