Global Fleet gaining momentum

Summary

The Brussels 2014 Global Fleet Conference is already a success: not only has it been sold out for the past two months but, most importantly, it gath-ers the Global Fleet executive network - be it customers or suppliers.

After the first edition of the event - which took place in Phoenix in October 2013, under the auspices of our partner Automotive Fleet - it dawned on us that the fleet sector’s Global Strategy is gaining momentum. Fleet trends and developments will lie at the heart of our discussions during the conference: it is our commitment as you have come from all over the world to share experience, grow expertise and better manage the global tricks of the trade.

Over the past two years, Nexus Communication’s team has travelled the world to China, Brazil, Russia, Turkey, and South Africa... And we’re planning our future journeys to Mexico, India, Dubai, and many more. Everywhere the fleet business is evolving, professionalising, and seeking

expertise and best practices through exchanges, trainings, research…

Leasing and/or fleet owner associations are emerging. “Global Fleet” has become a reality from which markets can’t turn away and, hand-in-hand with the fleet sector, we intend to pave the way to this change - and to go wherever this mutation may take place and lead us.

So get ready to meet us next year with several publications and dedicated events.

Enjoy the Conference!

Welcome to the Global Fleet Conference 2014

The goal of the Global Fleet Conference is to shine a light on the latest trends in global car fleet management. This unique event represents the perfect opportunity for international fleet leaders with a global fleet strat-egy - or the willingness to globalize their decision making - to share ideas and best practices with peers, and to benchmark their strategy.

In a globalized world, developments and innovation are going fast. There-fore we believe it is best to look ahead, learn from experts and from each

other, and share needs and requirements to further optimize the global fleet profession.

We have foreseen an exciting 2 days of learning, networking and sharing. On the one hand plenary sessions will tackle strategic key issues in fleet management such as policy set up, global reporting, fuel management, insurance, driver behaviour and telematics.

On the other hand we have planned smaller group sessions that will be dedicated to regional approaches, where you will be able to interact with fleet experts active in specific markets that are becoming more and more important in the car fleet strategy of multinational companies.

The Global Fleet Conference 2014, with fleet managers, experts, suppliers and associations coming from all over the world, perfectly translates the idea of developing a true global fleet community with knowledge, experience and enthusiasm at its core.

9:15 Setting up a global fleet strategyWhat are the first steps that a fleet manager who wants to roll out at global level needs to take? How to set up a global fleet policy and team? Who are the stakeholders? How to ensure processes are im-plemented? And what specific solutions are to be considered when operating your fleet in less mature car fleet regions and countries? Alain Duez will try and lay down the basics of global fleet manage-ment with examples and practical insights.

Visit BrusselsThere’s just something about Belgium. Maybe it’s the friendly and welcoming people who with three official languages still find it easy to converse in English, the 4th unofficial language. Maybe it’s the stunning architecture decorating the quaint cobblestone squares. Or perhaps it’s the incredible cuisine found in the vast array of restaurants where each meal seems better than the last. Energetic and carefree, the overall mood in Belgium is infectious, summoning in all of us to live as Belgians and enjoy life to the fullest. And Brussels is just all that - with a zest of Europeanism.

Manneken Pis

This bronze statuette, created in the 17th century by J. Duquesnoy the elder, embodies the irreverent spirit of Brussels. Also known as Julianske (“Little Julian”), due to confu-sion with another fountain, het Juliaensbor-reke, it was one of the many fountains serv-ing the city. From being a public fountain, the little fellow has now become a legendary figu-re. He has been given numerous costumes and decorations and his wardrobe now com-prises some 800 items, recently restyled in an appealing scenography (in the Museum of the City of Brussels).

There are several legends behind the sta- tuette, the most famous being that in the 14th century Brussels was under siege by a fo-reign power. The city had held its ground for some time, so the attackers conceived a plan to place explosive charges at the city walls. A little boy named Julianske happened to be spying on them as they were preparing. He urinated on the burning fuse and thus saved the city.
