Airbus

• employs more than 100 different nationalities

• targets hiring more than 20% non-national candidates annually

• proactively recruits disabled candidates

• targets hiring of 25% women & 20% female Engineers annually

• implemented an internship programme for disabled students in Spain

Airbus has initiated an award for diversity in engineering education in partnership with the GEDC, to:

• recognise individuals who have been pro active in bringing more diversity into engineering classrooms

• reward initiatives that encourage students of all profiles and backgrounds to study and succeed in engineering.

• increase the diversity among the global community of engineering educators and professionals, so that the engineering industry reflects the diversity of the communities it supports.

• ensure that more students have the opportunity to experience and value working in diverse teams.

The Award

•Will be given to 3 individuals (or groups), with the top award recipient receiving $10,000

•Will recognise the recipients’ achievements to date and support continuation of the recognized work

•Will be presented for the first time at the WEEF in October 2013 and on an annual basis thereafter
