45 years ago, Huseyin came to Germany from Turkey as a Gastarbeiter. Now, as a full German citizen, he's taking seven of his family members back to his home village and a life that his grandchildren can barely imagine. Meanwhile, Huseyin's grandson, Cenk, tries to do exactly that: imagine the absurd hurdles that his grandfather had to clear on the way to his new home, like an immigration official who insists on the importance of pork consumption. Its opening and closing credits may roll to archival footage of Germany's guest worker program, but Almanya is more feel-good comedy than social commentary. Still, in the 45 years and thousands of kilometres between Hamburg and Anatalya, Huseyin's family finds plenty of life to experience.
Yasemin Samdereli was born in Dortmund, Germany, she studied at the College of Film and Television in Munich from 1993-2000. From 1994-98 she was a freelancer for Bavaria Film and worked as an assistant director on a number of international productions, including a Jackie Chan vehicle. In 2002 she made a television comedy entitled "Alles getürkt!" She was co-writer of the TV series "Türkisch für Anfänger", and appeared in front of the camera in Delicious (2004).

When you need someone to take over the family business, you call Vanessa and she'll never, ever say no. At 34, she's still her large and boisterous family's go-to girl, with a threadbare excuse of a life of her own. Suddenly, she runs into an old friend (Ivan Shaw), the almost perfect guy who just might be perfect for her. But, as those sparks fly, her family starts to go up in flames. Her high-maintenance fashion designer sister (Christina Chang) is on the brink of self-destruction; her surf bum brother (Edison Chen) has gone AWOL; and her over-analyzing, over-intellectual mother (Tina Chen) has barred her father (Roger Rees) from their home, sending him into his own mid-life crisis. They all need Vanessa, all the time, to fix all of their problems. Trapped in the eye of the storm, Vanessa has to find her way back to love. In the process, she discovers that the only person she really has to save, is herself!

Until she asks the right person the right question, she is condemned to ask it of all who cross her path. On the morning of Arthur's departure Venice can't hold back any longer. Her unwelcome frankness shatters Arthur; and his story dismantles them both.

ChrysalisDe Tu Ventana a La Mia
2011-Blue Ray-98-Spanish-Color-Spain
Chrysalis is the first feature film by Paula Ortiz, after three shorts that were selected in numerous festivals. She graduated in Literature and earned a Masters in Scriptwriting in Barcelona and later studied filmmaking and scriptwriting in New York and Los Angeles.
Violeta, Ines and Luisa are women of different ages, whose days pass in apparent calmness on the other side of the window. Wheatfields, mountains, and the streets of an old city provide settings in which Chrysalis recreates these women's lives, as seen through the light and the beauty of memories. The film gives us the magical past when it was still possible for a young girl to dream in the woods; it gives us, the distant gaze of a mother in the arid desert and the autumnal memory of a mature woman in a closed house. It tells the tale of women who seem to live in silence, but who have memories that keep secrets, passions, and dreams alive. Like a ball of wool that rolls from one life to another, the film follows these women until the day when they suffer the unexpected blow of loss, absence and pain. Violet, shut up among flowers by her uncle, decides to enter the tunnel and look for Manuel. Inés, a peasant in the desert wasteland, fights for her dignity and her jailed husband, Paco; Luisa faces death to find the true passion of her life. And along the way, the three of them find vitality and some happiness.

The story belongs to that region of this universe where slaves reside. Drought and floods are the only by-products. Ministers survive on riches they harvest from the relief funds. Administration celebrates in the times of Natural Calamities and get high on the dance and songs by the Eunuchs. Corrupt official gets absolved of charges by purporting his wife as prostitute. Satraps kill the young and the innocent in cold blood. His goons kidnap a nurse while tending a critically ill patient and perpetrate rape in public hospital. What does our protagonist Purshottam Ram, under siege from the politicians and Government Officers do for Survival is Das Capital. What recourse will younger generations opt for is symbolized in Bhuletanas outburst. The big question is what will the world survive on? Violence? Or do we have some other choice?

Bruno Beltrame has let it all hang out, for quite a while. All that's left of his old talent as a writer is just enough to ghost write "other people's books", biographies of football players or television personalities. His passion for teaching has given way to an apathetic routine of tutoring equally apathetic students, including fifteen-year old Luca, who is as ignorant as the others, but vivacious and irreverent. One day the boy's mother turns up, like a ghost from the past, revealing a secret that turns Bruno's life upside down: Luca is his son, a son he knew nothing about. And that is not all: the woman is about to leave for a six-month job as a volunteer in Africa, and the boy cannot and certainly does not want to follow her down there. The woman asks Bruno to take the boy in, and take care of him, but without revealing his true identity to him.

The film is a fantasy rape revenge scenario that tries really hard to convey the controversial message that rape is bad. Shae has just been dumped by her older, married boyfriend. She decides to cut loose with Lu, a wild-eyed co-worker at her bar, and the girls throw back some drinks, grind on the dance floor and keep the party going at the home of a few frat guys they meet. One of the bros, seemingly gentle and concerned, walks the drunken Shae back to her apartment, and then forces himself inside and rapes her. Shae tries to turn to her mother, her classmate, the police and her ex-boyfriend, but in the end only Lu is there for her. The two women embark on a bloody crime spree, wreaking gory revenge on the men who did them wrong.
Austin Chick (Writer/Director, Producer) broke out as a maker of commercially exploitable personal films with his 2002 debut XX/XY. The film, about a college ménage a trois that spirals out of control forcing the lovers to face its long term consequences, was one of the most talked about hits of the 2002 Sundance Film Festival. In 2008 Chick returned to Sundance with AUGUST, which tells the story of two brothers fighting to keep their start up company afloat on Wall Street during August 2001, a month before the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon. It went on to play numerous other festivals and received a theatrical release by First Look Studios.

The cook, the farmer, the altar boy, and the head pig keeper give insight into the military terror they were subjected to and their reasons for fleeing. The documentary-style film is a montage of the real fates of young deserters and shows moving moments of traumatic memories and the social ostracism experienced after the war.

In the summer of 1982, in a sheltered village protected by its armed men, it took no longer than three months until radical changes started occurring in the lives of two families of different backgrounds. A priest about to be ordered is exhausted by temptations and an arrogant girl comes from the outside world, and penetrates the village, taking away the community's virginity. The little refugee girl becomes the refuge of a man, about to undertake a mission of life. The one supposed to marry, will be maried; the one supposed to serve. A shredded memory and an intimate story of a narrator who tells the meeting of his parents, before his existance, until their marriage.
Born in the south of Lebanon in 1983, Joe Bou Eid has lived the transition between an extensive war and a hidden peace, in a country where Cinema is a recreation of the reality of every day. Having a fertile imagination and willpower, he started working on his first feature film, which led him to talk with a lot of love and mockery about his vulnerable country, about the futile society that he lives in, about the story of his own parents. Having this big passion for cinema, He proved to the Lebanese public his engagement and his sensibility to discover the real shades of art expressions. Strong eye for detail, perfectionist, innovative, he graces the eyes of his spectators with his decorative drive, his bold use of rich color, his esthetics and especially his artistic direction.

A young man named Dog, the key to a young woman's love life, disappears, and she aims to track him down through his social media network. In Chen Hung-i's exploration of networked communications and virtual friendships the ensemble cast begins combining their online lives with their real ones, while coming to grips with what it means to be living in an age that is constantly accelerating into the future.
The work of director Hung-I Chen reveals his strong sense of aesthetics. He demands the best out of each shot and pays attention to the smallest details even as he insists on pushing the boundaries of his craft. In its purity there's something sharp that touches a nerve. This touch was what he developed while studying Philosophy at the NTU where he not only increased his academic knowledge but also developed a solid grounding in aesthetics. Transformed into imagery, that sense of aesthetics crackles with unleashed energy. Hung-I Chen succeeded at all of the above, not only making experimental imagery into popular TV commercials but also managing to make the audience of the TV commercials accept the experiment itself.

The documentary King Of Comics pays tribute to an artist at the height of his creativity. König's life and art are closely intertwined with the emergent gay community of the late seventies. It all began in a village in Westphalia where at an early age illustrating helped him come out. His 'adolescent scribbling' soon evolved into an assured comic style still informed by a sense of humour that is both frivolous and anarchistic. König's topics and interests have long gone beyond homosexuality to embrace more universal and philosophic subjects, and he will no doubt continue to plumb the depths of social convention ad absurdum.

A night-time ride with a couple of chauvinists who think that feminism is just about certain troublemakers not getting enough. But the guys have a lot more on their minds and they're unlikely to leave any stone unturned when it comes to women. No matter how many stereotypical memes slip from the protagonists' lips in this dynamic conversational game, it isn't women who end up the cinematic losers. Ultimately, the men are so desperate they no longer even find sexist jokes funny. They are the poor beggars here, betraying their own shortcomings in biased monologues; and with each additional sneer, they earn one in return from the audience. And this is no movie to shy away from direct confrontation with viewers, who are forced to take stock of the stereotypical thinking in their own thought processes.

Unable to submit to any schedule, he finds himself unfit for work. He envisions big projects and has large ideas but, inevitably and despite himself, loses sight of them before they are realized. A drama between people under unconventional circumstances. In the Second World War Finland was the only nation who brought casualties killed-in-action back to be buried at home. These actions were carried out by men and women working in assembly centres near enemy lines. Silence is a story of a group of people in a limbo between life and death, in a mental no-man's- land, where heaven and hell, horror and joy, love and fear touch each other.
Born October 30, 1960. Sakari Kirjavainen is a versatile Finnish film director. Kirjavainen started his career in film business in the beginning of the 1980s when he was studying in the University of Industrial Arts. He directed some successful experimental short films and received the Risto Jarva award for his short feature Whale Oil Lamp, which was shot in Greenland. He made his first feature film Who Asks For Fire in 2001. The film was recognized as a cult classic.

The best way to escape from your pursuers without leaving any traces behind you is to walk backwards over your own footprints. This is what French artist and author François Augiéras believed as he painted every inch of the walls of a military bunker in the desert and let it sink into the sand so that no-one would find it till the 21st Century. Filmmaker Isaki lacuseta and painter Miquel Barceló evoke Augiéras's fascinating personality.
Isaki Lacuesta was born into a family of Basque origins in Girona, Spain, in 1975. After his film studies, he took a course in Audio-visual Communication at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and later a Master Course in Documentary of Creation at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra.

The film set in post war Sri Lanka brings us close to two characters who collide quite accidentally and through them we experience the deep and seemingly unbridgeable chasm that conflict almost always creates. Will love help them cross the bridge? Or will the past continue to color the present? A man and a woman from the two ends of the thirty year old bloody civil war in Sri Lanka discover that the color of love is blue and life shades of grey.
