Member for Mulgoa, Tanya Davies MP has announced the winners of the 2012 Mulgoa Christmas Card Competition. Mrs Davies approached local schools earlier this year to invite them to be a part of the competition. All interested students submitted artworks, competing to be the winning entry to be used as Mrs Davies’ Christmas card that will be sent to various members of our community.
The students were asked to recognise the special Christmas season in some way and Mrs Davies encouraged students to be creative, humorous or reflective of the local area or local people.
The overall winner this year was Rachael Brawley from Glenmore Park Public School, who submitted a picture of a homely family Christmas. Continued pg 3

From the Editor
Well here we are, December already! It’s our final edition of the year, and what a year it has been! If you’re like me, I often wonder how we’ve already arrived at the end of the year. It felt like only yesterday when I sent my son off to school for his very first day of Kindergarten; and now, here we are preparing for Year 1.
Like the old adage says, ‘time flies when you’re having fun’. There’s no doubt about it, 2012 has been fun, and busy, in fact even hectic, chaotic and bedlam at times! But like every year, I look back at what I have achieved, what I have learned and what I will do better next year. With the New Year looming it’s the perfect opportunity to reflect and review. Designer Body on page 15 might be able to assist with the perfect New Year’s resolution.
I managed to complete my Christmas shopping last month, which was a huge relief! If you are still yet to tackle the thought of it, we have loads of gift ideas in this bumper edition. Perhaps a time-saving car wash (see pg 9)or a gift certificate for a soothing massage (see pg 14) could be the key! No need to worry about your Christmas dinner, I’ve got that sorted too! Check out ‘What’s Cooking’ on pages 12-13.
Many of us will relate to Linda Cassell’s article this month in ‘Counselling Corner’ where she offers 7 strategies to survive Christmas with the relatives; while our resident Family Worker Narelle Smith offers some thought-provoking words on the true meaning of Christmas.
Relax and enjoy this final edition of the Glenmore Gazette for 2012. Enjoy a safe and happy Christmas spending time with your family and loved ones. We will return in the New Year direct to your letterbox from the first weekend in February. And remember, this festive season try to ‘collect moments, not things’. Belinda

Christmas Card Winners!Continued from pg 1 All winners received a framed certificate and a voucher to ToysRUs.
As well as the overall winner, Mrs Davies awarded winners from each of three categories:
Most Creative - Jack Selmes from Banks Public School who drew a reindeer with a message in a bauble hanging from its antlers.
Kindergarten to Year 2 - Aleyna Bateman-Irvine from Oxley Park Public School who drew presents under a Christmas tree, with one labelled for Alyena!
Year 3 to Year 6 - Jessica Elliot, also from Glenmore Park Public School who drew a traditional white Christmas scene.
“Congratulations and thank you to everyone who entered the competition. The quality of the entries made the choice very difficult, but I very much enjoyed looking through all the artworks submitted,” Mrs Davies said.
Little Red Rides AgainGlenmore Park resident, wife, mother, actor and playwright,
Gabrielle DeCelis is proud to announce a return season of her madcap kids show, Little Red Riding Hood, in January 2013.
Gabrielle has lived in Glenmore Park for sixteen years and has been an actor for over 20 years performing in numerous short films and stage productions. Gabrielle is a committed member of The Acting Factory Inc, an alliance of theatre professionals who have trained or reside in the Western Sydney region. For the Acting Factory she has undertaken key roles in various productions including the hilariously twisted Kids Shows performed during the school holidays.
Little Red Riding Hood proved to be hugely popular with both children and adults alike when it premiered at Penrith Regional Gallery in January 2009 and followed up with a sell-out season at Norman Lindsay Gallery later that year. “I really wanted to create a show that can be appreciated by the whole family – not just the kids. With its rhyming dialogue and comedy that can be appreciated on many different levels, Little Red
Riding Hood has something in it for everyone”.Little Red Riding Hood will be performed in the gardens of
Mamre House on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings at 6.30pm throughout the January school holidays. Audience members are encouraged to bring a picnic and enjoy the gardens prior to the show. “Bring a basketful of goodies to wolf down with the whole family”Tickets: $12 - Group of 6 $60 – Kids under 2 years free.Bookings: 8250 0888 or www.actingfactory.comWet weather contingencies are in place so come along regardless of the weather.

Is Christmas just for Children? One of the joys & privileges of being a
Minister at Glenmore Park Anglican Church (GPAC) is that I get to meet & talk with lots of people. At this time of year, not surprisingly, the conversation often turns to Christmas. People are interested to know something
about the special events happening at our church over Christmas & what we’ve got planned. (You can see the details contained in the advertisement on this page.) Perhaps I’ve really only noticed it this year, but a lot of people seem to say that “Christmas is for kids”. Now at one level I really want to agree. Who can deny the joy children experience at Christmas with presents & Christmas lights & parties & lots of fine food. Yet, while Christmas is a great time for children, the reality is that Christmas is a great time for everybody!
The Bible’s New Testament gospel of Luke tells us that when Jesus was born, the angels from heaven announce “good news for all people (not just children!)...a Saviour has been born to you; He is Christ they Lord.”
The amazing news of Christmas is that God in His great love sent Jesus into our world so that all people, old & young, men, women & children, could have a fresh start & new life with Him. This new life is found when we come to Jesus in repentance & faith. A great step for you to take this Christmas!
At GPAC, we want to share & celebrate this great news with everybody, & while we will have plenty of good

things for children, we don’t want the adults to miss out. We’d love to see you at one or more of our Christmas celebration services and of course Carols in the Park (Blue Hills Oval, 5.30pm Sunday 16th).

Glenmore Park Residents Group NEWSPenrith City Council has agreed to a contract with Busways to take over the bus routes from Westbus in the area starting in 12 months. If you have any concerns over the service that will be provided contact one of your local councillors.
One of our members tested the graffiti removal hotline and was disappointed at the slow response. The group has been advised that photos of graffiti can be uploaded to a not for profit group at http://www.vandaltrak.com.au/ where regular tags can be collated and hotspots developed. If you have a problem in your area we suggest that you use this site. While graffiti will never be completely eradicated, use of this website will ensure that when an offender is caught his tag can be traced.

At Glenmore Park Town Centre, they believe Christmas should be for everyone! The annual Christmas Appeal held in association with the Mulgoa-Wallacia Rotary is their way
of bringing a little bit of joy to those families less fortunate during this festive season.
The official Christmas Appeal Launch was held at the centre in November, where they enjoyed a celebration cake, visit from Santa and special performances by the Nepean Christian School Big band and Glenmore Park Public School Junior Choir.
Sadly thousands of Aussie families will go without receiving a gift or celebrating a family meal this holiday season simply because they can’t afford it.
The annual tradition of collecting gifts and food for the Christmas Appeal has been occurring at Glenmore Park Town Centre for over 5 years and wouldn’t be possible without the
generous support of our local community. With your help they aim to collect as many gifts as possible on
behalf of The Salvation Army and the Penrith Domestic Violence Services so that they may be delivered to disadvantaged children and families in the local area. They will be collecting donations of new clothes, books, toys and non-perishable food items (including canned foods, jars, etc.)
The centre is also raising money on behalf of the Ronald McDonald House Family room to be located in the Neo Natal unit of the Nepean Hospital, which is anticipated to open in the New Year!
Your Christmas will mean more this year when you give!Glenmore Park Town Centre is located at 1 Town Terrace for any further information about the Christmas Appeal please contact centre Management on 4733 3699
A small Gift makes a BIG Difference!
6 December 2012 www.glenmoregazette.com.au
I found these helpful ideas in an edition of the ‘Reader’s Digest’ some time ago about what not to buy your wife for Christmas: 1. Don’t buy clothing that involves sizes. The chances are one in seven thousand that you will get her size right, and your wife will be offended the other 6999 times.
2. Don’t buy jewellery. The jewellery your wife wants, you can’t afford. And the jewellery you can afford, she doesn’t want.3. Avoid all things useful. The new silver polish advertised to save hundreds of hours is not going to win you any brownie points.4. Don’t buy anything that involves weight loss or self-improvement. She’ll perceive a six-month membership to a diet centre as a suggestion that’s she’s overweight.5. Finally, don’t spend too much. “How do you think we’re going to afford that?” she’ll ask. But don’t spend too little. She won’t say anything, but she’ll think, “Is that all I’m worth?”
I always find it difficult to know what to buy my wife for Christmas. Last Christmas I thought I’d be bold and buy her a really nice dress. I had to think very hard, not simply about what size she was (which I hadn’t a clue about), but also a back-up plan in case I got her size wrong. I sized the dress up alongside the young lady who served me. She was a similar height and a bit slimmer so I guessed what size I thought my wife was and then asked the lady to drop a size down just for caution. My plan worked a charm because although I was wrong about the size
CHRIST CHURCH @ THE COLLEGERev Mark Bonnici • Christ Church @ The College • www.christchurchatthecollege.com.au
of the dress, my wife was chuffed that I thought she was thinner than she was! Phew!
Each Christmas we celebrate the giving and receiving of gifts because God is the giver of the gifts and when it comes to sizing us up He knew precisely what His world needed… it needed saving! The gift He gave us was the life of His very own son Jesus. The Bible calls Jesus “the unspeakable gift” because He would one day give up his life to save us. It is hard to comprehend this kind of love, that one would lay down his life for another and this is the bigger reason why we celebrate Jesus coming into our world. The birth of Jesus was just the beginning of the story, but many of us simply stop there in our honor of Jesus. It’s like celebrating the plane ride to a holiday resort and never getting out of the plane, you’ve missed the whole reason why you came in the first place.
This Christmas my prayer is that in celebrating Jesus’ birth we may be willing to learn about his life, his death and his resurrection as well, so that we understand more fully just how amazing God’s gift to the world is. I guarantee you will be so wonderfully surprised about Jesus our king!
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Please join us over the Christmas period as we remember the Christmas message and give thanks to God for sending Jesus.
Have a very merry Christmas!Mark Bonnici

Rocking Holiday Activities Following the success of their last program, Kalinda Jade Studios is once again running their KJ Rock school holiday workshops.
Held at the South Penrith Neighbourhood Centre on Wednesday 16th and Wednesday 23rd January 2013, the workshops offer school students—and their parents—an exciting and expressive alternative to hanging around at home or attending vacation care.
Primary school aged students (ages five to 11) will participate in music, dance, drama and art workshops.
Older students (ages 12 and up) join the school holiday KJ Rock program in which they’ll form bands and learn how to play music as a group.
According to owner and teacher, Kalinda McDonald, the workshops held last holidays were a huge success. “We had over 40 students of various ages at our first workshop and the kids had lots of fun, learnt some new skills and built their confidence.
“In our older age group, we’re looking for students who want to be in a band. Whether they are drummers, singers, guitarists, bass or keyboard players, the school holiday program is a great place to meet new friends and jam with musicians at a similar level.
“After the last holiday workshops many of our students joined our monthly KJ Rock program, and some of those band members will even get some gigs throughout the year!”
Parents will find the camp to be an affordable and enjoyable alternative to vacation care, with discounts available for families registering more than one child.
Places are limited so early registration is encouraged. To find out more contact Kalinda Jade Studios on 0403 134 336, email [email protected] or find Kalinda Jade Studios on Facebook.
Kalinda Jade Studios also offers regular tuition in drums, singing, piano, guitar and bass and music theory to students of all ages and abilities, with high school music tuition a specialty.
Fire and Rescue NSW Delivers Road Safety Awareness ProgramFire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) fire fighters from Regentville Fire Station delivered the FRNSW road safety education initiative RescuEd at Nepean Christian School on Friday 26 October 2012. Senior Firefighter Ray Irving said the RescuEd program was aimed at reducing the number of young people injured and killed on NSW roads.“People aged under 26 represent just 15% of drivers but were involved in 36% of all road deaths,” firefighter Irving said.“Roads and Maritime Services statistics show that speeding is the major cause of death and injury on our roads contributing to over 40 per cent of fatal crashes involving young people aged 17-25 years. More than 80 per cent of speeding casualty crashes involving P-plate drivers occur in urban areas including 60 per cent in the Sydney region.”“We believe the RescuEd program has a powerful impact on teenagers
because they learn about the tragic consequences of road accidents from rescue operators with first-hand experience rescuing young people,” Firefighter Irving said.Senior Firefighter Irving said the program specifically targets Year 9-11 students so that they can learn about the reality of horrific accidents before they get behind the wheel. “It is about encouraging respect for the road and responsible behaviour behind the wheel.”The RescuEd program is delivered by rescue accredited FRNSW fire stations. High School principals in the Penrith area are encouraged to contact Regentville fire station on 4733 6851to participate in the program.

PADRE PIO PARISH UPDATEFr Robert Riedling • 34-38 William Howell Dr , Glenmore Park • Phone: 4737 9735
It seems that Christmas comes around quicker and quicker each year doesn’t it? Just like winter, Easter, Anzac Day and Mothers’ Day are long gone. Fathers’ Day has also come and gone like other secular days of importance and then, before we know it, tinsel and other unmistakeably Christmas decorations start to adorn the department stores, shops and other
places of business. Christmas songs and the odd Christmas carol break into our consciousness and we then know for certain that the festive season is looming and with it a sense of foreboding as it dawns upon us that there is much to be done in terms of finishing off projects before the summer break as well as purchasing gifts for loved ones and work colleagues and organising our schedules to attend the innumerable Christmas parties that seem to grow in number each year.
In all this frenetic activity, of course, it is hardly surprising that so few people have the opportunity to focus on the Christmas story and reflect on just how far removed from the real meaning of Christmas much of what we do around this time of year actually is. The true Christmas story is found in the Christian scriptures, of course, most fully in the first two chapters of the Gospel of Luke. It is here that we read most comprehensively of the birth of Jesus in humble circumstances, the one who would go on to suffer the ignominy of a criminal’s execution that we might have life to the full, both here on earth and beyond. Whilst it would be easy to fill up the whole of the Glenmore Gazette with reflections on this most wonderful of stories, I’d like to focus on just one small facet of the Christmas story which might give some food for thought.
I often reflect on how the very minor characters in the Bible ought not to be dismissed because they are quite frequently vehicles for God’s message on an equal footing with the better known, more famous (or infamous!) personalities. With regards to the Christmas story, I often reflect on a character who doesn’t even appear in the story yet was obviously present and played a pivotal role in the drama: I refer to the “innkeeper” (as he is traditionally known), the one who directed Joseph and Mary to the stable that Mary might give birth to
Jesus with at least some minor level of dignity and privacy, away from the elements. This character had no idea that his small act of kindness, perhaps one of many that he had undertaken over the years, would play a role in so crucial an historical event, the birth of our Lord and Saviour, sometimes referred to as the King of the Universe. Without knowing it, the innkeeper made provision for the comfort of the Holy Family of Jesus, Joseph and Mary and in some small way facilitated the beginnings of our salvation. I like to think that this gentleman is now rejoicing in heaven with the one whose birth he assisted.
Christians are called each day to show love to all. We are called to see Christ in every person we meet and to respond accordingly. Sometimes we do this well, other times we fail miserably. Yet, no matter what our faith, whenever we act with love towards another, even in the smallest way, the effects can reverberate far and wide, maybe even thunder down throughout history such as that small action of the innkeeper in Bethlehem around two thousand years ago. We may not live to see the effects of our loving actions but that doesn’t mean that they are any the less worthwhile.
My prayer for all readers of the Glenmore Gazette, Glenmore Park residents and their loved ones, is that the Christmas story will inspire you to see Christ in all whom you meet and respond with loving kindness, even when that seems most difficult and pointless. It is then that God can work wonders and multiply the effects of such actions to enable them to do the most good and so make the world one which most reflects the kingdom of God: a place of peace, mercy, justice and love.
A truly happy, holy and joyful Christmas and New Year to you all from me and all the parishioners of Padre Pio Catholic Parish.
An invitation is open to all to attend the Padre Pio Christmas Carols Family Night on Saturday 8 December from 7:00pm – 9:00pm at the parish hall at Bethany Catholic School adjacent to the Padre Pio Catholic Church, 34 – 38 William Howell Drive, Glenmore Park. Food and drinks for sale. Carols and Christmas songs and a visit from someone special for the children!Blessings, Fr Robert Riedling – Parish Priest

Each year we look forward with great expectation for the perfect family Christmas. However we know from ‘Christmas’s past’ that often the reality of our Christmas holiday experiences is far removed from our picture perfect fantasies.
Christmas can be pretty stressful and unpleasant for many who may not look forward to spending a lot of time with people that they don’t particularly like but feel obligated to be with during this time of year.
Here are seven strategies for survival. So, consider doing the right thing for yourself by using the following:1. Don’t take the bait! Some relatives may use the holidays to act out family dynamics, old sibling rivalries, and so forth. Don’t take the bait. If you know it is coming you can plan for it. 2. Watch the alcohol consumption! It can be easy to drink too much during these gatherings and then you are more likely to have troubles with family dynamics and impulse control.3. Put brakes on your impulses by counting to 10 (slowly and in another language if you need to). When you are confronted with a family member who irritates you get ready to count before you say anything.4. Take an adult time out. Take a walk around the block and breathe deeply to look after yourself and keep your stress levels down. 5. Learn to observe. Try to develop what we psychologists call an “observing ego.” Try to take yourself out of the situation you are in and observe it similar to if you were watching a movie. It may give you a bit of distance to do so and not get so emotionally involved.
6. Keep the big picture in mind. The big picture for some is that you have to survive a few hours or days with the family during the holidays and then you can get back to your normal life. The big picture is to survive without too much family drama. Keep the expectations reasonable and doable.7. Be grateful. No matter how stressful family can be, it really is important to be grateful for what we do have. *Adapted from Prof Plante @ www.psychology today.com. * Linda Cassell - Assoc MAPS, Master of Counselling, Psychology Honours (BASS) - is a psychologist and counsellor in private practice in Luddenham.

CHRISTMAS COOKINGTo make your Christmas cooking easier, I’ve already sorted
out your Christmas dinner! Here is a totally scrumptious turkey recipe, guaranteed to please your guests on Christmas day, and it’s gluten-free! And for afters, try these sensational Christmas brownies- not gluten-free, however you can simply substitute the flour with G-free flour, and you won’t know the difference.
Roast Lemon & Oregano Turkey• Serves 8-10 • Preparation 20 mins • Cooking 2 ½ hours
Ingredients1 whole turkey approx 4kg100g butter, at room temperature4 cloves garlic, crushed1 tsp lemon zest1 Tbsp dried oregano2 small lemons, halved1Tbsp olive oil
Stuffing2 cups cooked brown rice½ cup currants100g pistachios, toasted & chopped2 tsp orange rind, finely grated 200 g dark cooking chocolate, melted1 egg, lightly beaten
Method1. Preheat oven to 180ºC (160ºC fan forced). Rinse turkey (including cavity) under cold running water and pat dry with paper towel. 2. Combine butter, garlic, lemon zest and oregano. Using fingers, gently loosen skin from breast meat and push butter mixture under skin.3. Make stuffing by combining rice, currants, pistachios and egg, and season well.4. Fill cavity with the rice stuffing and then 2 lemon halves. Secure the cavity with a skewer and tie the legs with kitchen string.5. Place on a rack in a roasting pan, brush with oil and squeeze remaining lemon over turkey. Cover with foil and bake for 1 hour.6 Remove foil and bake for another 1hr, 20 mins, or until juices run clear when a skewer is inserted into the thickest part of the turkey. Rest for 10m ins before carving.

Christmas Day Lunch
at Hopewood Health Retreat
Have Yourself a Merry Vege ChristmasWho says that Christmas feasts have to be filled with the traditional turkeys or hams?
For the vegetarian among us, having a meatless Christmas doesn’t mean losing all the goodness from the lavish banquet, it simply means making a few changes here and there, so that you and your guests can embrace the full Christmas spirit – and munch on delicious food!
The first thing to recognise would be the foods that are both customary to Christmas celebrations, and are already vegetarian. Foods such as mince pies, roast veges, cranberry sauce, stuffing, shortbread and eggnog are just a few examples of the types of things you’re still able to eat and drink.
Nut roast, egg & capsicum roulade or marinated tofu are common main course replacements. However, be sure to experiment a little as well. Take advantage of summer fruits that are in season and native vegetables and herbs, such as desert limes and lemon myrtle. Don’t forget to check that standard items used in cooking, such as stock and condiments, are completely free of meat products.
With over 50 years of experience, Hopewood Health Retreat is Australia’s most experienced health retreat. It has been successful in the assistance of health remedies and heightening the well being of clients since its establishment. Hopewood’s focus is on providing healthy, appetising vegetarian food options, stress management, relaxation and gentle, monitored exercise.

Big Day In for Glenmore ParkLast month Glenmore Park High School held their annual ‘Big Day
In’. On this day, the school opened their doors to local students from surrounding primary schools. “The ‘Big Day In’ is designed to offer Year 6 students the opportunity to become familiar with the High School environment in a relaxed and non-threatening way” said Principal Natalie Brookton.
The day was full of fun and excitement, with many stalls, rides, activities and performances on offer. P&C was on hand providing full support and the Senior Exploring Early Childhood class were demonstrating their ‘sweet skills’ in preparing and selling cakes as part of their class assessment.
Highlights of the day included, The NSW Rural Fire Service, an Open Air Concert, Earth Ball Competition, the ‘Big Kahuna’ water dunking and much, much more! There was no mistaking the fun had by all with lots of laughter and shrills of excitement filling the grounds of the school.
”The ‘Big Day In’ is an ideal way to demonstrate and promote the school’s core values of cooperation, care and respect” said Principal Natalie Brookton.

PARENT’S CORNER
Finished your Christmas shopping? Haven’t started? Got a few bits and pieces? A Dad said to me recently that he was getting so stressed
about Christmas. He’s a single Dad raising three boys and he can’t afford much. I asked him what his stress was achieving and he said that he wasn’t getting much joy from life. I asked what his kids really needed, and he replied “a Dad that’s not stressed and that is there for them”. That’s right, those kids need a parent that is present to their needs every day, not a parent that has a sack load of presents on Christmas Day.
At my place, we give “sharing” presents at Christmas. We give some thought to gifts that the whole family will enjoy doing together – a board game, some sporting equipment, toys that the boys have to play together. I know some families that give tickets or gift cards for family outings (museum, movies, aquarium, outdoor adventure, etc).
Years ago, I knew a Mum who thought that buying expensive “educational” toys would make her children do better academically. What she didn’t know is that children don’t need stuff, they need you, their parent. Research has shown that children learn more in social interaction with caring, interested, and more knowledgeable others. The more that parents talk with (not talk at) their children the better they do socially, emotionally, and academically.
So your child will learn more from sitting down with you with a world atlas poster that cost you $1, and exploring and chatting about what you both see and know, than she will from the electronic world globe toy that cost you 120 bucks.
Article by: Narelle Smith (Family Worker) Nepean Community & Neighbourhood Services. Ph: 0409 986 121 Email: [email protected] Blog: http://oranaplaygroup.wordpress.com
When my kids were little I bought them a plastic fold-up house. It had furniture and people and a doorbell. I thought it was great. The kids didn’t touch it. Not once. One day they asked if we could make a house from a Weet-Bix box. We spent a few hours making the house with doors and windows to my kid’s exact specifications. And we made people and dogs from wooden pegs and pipe cleaners. And they played with that house until it disintegrated. Lesson learnt.
Those plastic toys will cause more mess and stress, and will sooner or later end up in landfill, but the gift of your time and energy with your children will last a lifetime.
I’ve seen this little poem doing the rounds. It is such a simple, lovely thing…
“Something they wantSomething they needSomething to wear, andSomething to read.”The “something they need” could be a bit tricky. They might
think they need that iPod Touch. All I can offer is to ask yourself if the “gift” is going to create connection or disconnection? So many parents I speak to regret purchasing the electronic thing that has caused their child to become more isolated and withdrawn and then had the battle over having to place limits on it. People have asked me how I have avoided the demand from my pre-teens for Wii’s, Xbox, iPod, iPad, etc, and I say I simply say “no” and offer to take them to the park to play a game of cricket.
Wishing you much joy and connection this holiday season.

iPads Popular at Regentville P.S.The Regentville P & C Association is made up of parents and
friends who dedicate countless volunteer hours to support our students, the school and the local community. Members of the Association have worked tirelessly this year to ensure that our children receive quality education, by providing support and funding to help the school expand their facilities, equipment and infrastructure. This is mainly achieved through fundraising and the running of the school canteen.
We are proud to say that we are now one of a very small number of fully operating, 5 days a week, canteens that are still run by the P & C Association in the Penrith and Blue Mountains Districts. This is due to a small number of dedicated parents and Grandparents that volunteer alongside our Canteen Supervisor, Sally Simmons.
The P & C have purchased 4 Portable Electronic Interactive Whiteboards that were installed in demountable classrooms this year. This now means that all students have access to the Interactive Whiteboards thanks to the combined efforts of the P & C and the school working closely together.
Further to that, the P & C Association has purchased 20 Ipads that have proven to be hit with both the students and the teaching staff. In fact, our reputation for being at the forefront of interactive technology has lead to visits from other schools to witness the positive use of technology at Regentville in the classrooms. It is the P & C’s plan to double that number of Ipads in the New Year.
Regentville Public School P & C Association would like to thank all the parents and families who continue to support the school through our fundraising initiatives. To our many volunteers, we are appreciative in your commitment and support in ensuring that our children receive the quality education that they deserve.

Kids in the House10-year-old Emma Hogan from Glenmore Park joined one
hundred JDRF Government Advocates from around Australia, all with type 1 diabetes, who converged on Canberra in November to plead for continued government funding for type 1 diabetes research.
JDRF Chief Executive Officer Mike Wilson said, “Australia has one of the highest rates of type 1 diabetes in the world, with 122,300 Australians currently living with the disease. Six more people are being diagnosed every day. This situation is urgent.”
For a young person, Emma carries a heavy burden of awareness of the risks of life with diabetes. “I am afraid of diabetes complications in the future. My hope is for a cure before something goes wrong.”
