DRAMATIC TIME

Glengarry Glen Ross is in episodic time, in which the play takes place in several short episodes over a short period of time and scene locations may vary.

The play takes place over a few days time. The first act is in a Chinese restaurant and the next is at the office, demonstrating a vary in location.

Mamet wrote this play in episodic time to clearly show the time lapse in which the four main characters compete and struggle to sell real estate.

HIERARCHY OF NEEDS

The two least important needs are most apparent in Glengarry Glen Ross.

Ego Needs The sales contest sparks each

man’s sense of ego needs. Selling property will boost their esteem as a great realtor. They are eager to win the competition in order to gain a greater reputation and status for themselves.

Self-Actualization Needs Each man demonstrates his sense

of creativity while trying to sell property. They very much want to win for personal fulfillment.
