2019-20 Membership Flyer

Join the Titan Booster Club: 2019-20 Membership

Membership registration is NOW OPEN for the Glenbrook South Titan Booster Club for the 2019-

20 school year.

There are two ways to join. Click here to register on our web site, or choose the Booster Club as one of the activities you can select and pay for during the PowerSchool registration process starting

July 15.

There are three levels of membership, starting at $50. Gold membership for $200 includes

an exclusive Titan premium gift you can't get anywhere else: a Navy and gold nylon 21”

wide duffel bag with padded handle, detachable strap, and GBS logo (see pic below).

100% of your membership fee is used to provide funds for:

• A retractable screen system that divides the Fieldhouse space between the indoor track and the three courts to ensure a safe and productive practice environment. EVERY GBS STUDENT

will benefit since the screen will also be used during PE classes. • Coaches’ wish lists for equipment their teams need for training and competition.

(Approximately $15,000 in equipment purchased in 2018 and $350,000 given to GBS to construct the outdoor bathroom/concession facility that benefits all students as well as the

community.)

• Scholarships for GBS summer camps, CSL leadership conferences, and two deserving college

bound athletes.

• Three code of conduct breakfasts throughout the year.

Girls Cross Country compete at Sectionals

The Girls Cross Country team placed ninth overall at the Hoffman Estates Sectional meet over the

weekend.

Kate Jortberg came in 4th place overall and will be competing at the State meet this coming

Saturday at Detweiller Park in Peoria.

The coaches want to thank the Varsity team this year for all their hard work throughout the season.

Good luck to Kate at the State Series Meet this coming weekend!

Boys Cross Country compete at Sectionals

The Boys Cross Country team qualified for the state meet yesterday with their fourth place finish at

the Hoffman Estates Sectional.

Leading the way again this week was Will Kelly who finished 9th overall to earn All-Sectional

Honors!

Will Houser (17th) and Brian Hiltebrand (24th) also stayed near the front of the pack to keep the

Titans in contention for a spot a state. James Kurtzweil and Jayson Stamm rounded out the scoring to help the Titans qualify for state for the first time since 1994! Mrugesh Thakor and Matt Finkel

worked together throughout the race finishing ahead of several teams 5th runner to keep the Titans

score in qualifying position.

State will be held in Peoria next Saturday. Race time will be 2 p.m.

Girls Volleyball

Congratulations to the Varsity team as they finished their last home match with a W when they

handled GBN during the regional Championship this past Thursday!

Your Titans face Loyola on Monday at Maine East @5:30 in the first round of sectionals!

Go get em ladies!!

Girls Swimming & Diving

Girls Swim & Dive had a great meet against Niles North were we won on both the JV and

Varsity levels. They also celebrated their 15 seniors in the program for their Senior Night!

The team thanks all of the parents and families for their dedication and support of their daughters

throughout their time in our program.

Field Hockey

The Titans ended the season with a 12-7 record. This is the second season in a row with double digit wins. The team ended the regular season celebrating their seniors with a 1-0 win over Naperville

North. MJ McNary scored the line goal and our defense stymied the Huskies for the rest of the game

to preserve the shutout.

The team was awarded the eighth seed In the state playoffs. The Titans took on Evanston in the

second round and easily moved on into the elite eight with a convincing 3-1. Eva Van der Goes

scored 2 goals and Kyla Kachmarik scored one in the victory.

The Titans played hard but bowed out to the #1 seeded New Trier in the sectional final, ending their

season.

The coaches are proud of our team for fighting until the end. They wish their seniors well in their

future endeavors. The team is excited about next year!!

Titans Helping Titans Winter Clothing Drive

Titans Helping Titans is now accepting donations for the THIRD annual Winter Clothing Drive to

assist GBS students and their families during the upcoming winter months. The event will be held at GBS November 18-26. Donations will be accepted until November 26 and can be dropped off at the

front desk. Students may also drop off donations in the Dean's Office during school hours.

We are asking for donations of new or gently used winter outerwear:

--Jackets

Freshman Football goes undefeated!

The 2019 Glenbrook South freshman football team did something any level of the school’s program

hasn’t done in 23 years: finish undefeated.

South’s freshman team finished with a 9-0 record and won its second conference championship sine

1996. In their undefeated campaign, the Titans offense averaged 31.3 points per game while the defense allowed an average of 12.3 per game. GBS outscored its opponents 282-111 in nine

games.

The freshmen squad was coached by Bobby Cowhey, Pa’al Joshi and John Klasen.

Glenbrook United Compete at State volleyball Championships

Congrats GU/ Wolves Gold and Blue teams for competing at State Special Olympics volleyball (after

winning area gold to qualify for state last month) last Saturday and Sunday.

Congrats to Wolves Gold for finishing with state bronze medal! Congrats to the blue team for

finishing state 4th place. It was another great year for all teams!

Glenbrook United Flag Football

Congrats to the Glenbrook United Wolves flag football team for competing in Pekin at the Avantis

Dome Saturday 11/2 and Sunday 11/3.

Congrats to the GU/ Wolves flag football team for winning state silver ( win semi final game Saturday 38-19 and lost in gold medal game 27-13) this weekend in Pekin. The athletes competed

in the first state flag football championship and were amazing, congrats !!

State floor hockey in Northeastern is 11/16 and basketball started last week. Congrats and go

GU/Wolves !!

Rowing

GBS Rowing Club finished off their second fall season successfully with a win recently at the Fall

Classic regatta in Grand Rapids, MI.

The club will resume for the traditional spring season at the end of January. Only a couple of seats

remain as they are close to capacity. If interested, please check out GBSRowing.com

Cross Country Alumni Update: Jack Whetstone

GBS alum, Jack Whetstone is having an outstanding year for Emory University (Atlanta, GA). Jack

was recently named UAA Cross Country Athlete of the Week and most recently ran a personal best

of 24:40 (8k) at the Pre-National Meet in Louisville this past weekend. Congratulations, Jack!
