Parent and Helper’s Morning Tea Tuesday 6th December GHPS Staff would like to invite all parents and helpers to a morning tea in the Library on Tuesday 6th December, so please save the date in your busy December diary. This is to say a huge thankyou to everyone for volunteering to help us GHPS. We would love to see you. A notice will be going home in the next fortnight.

School Uniform Thank you to Lisa Oliver and Julie Bruce who do a fabulous job ensuring that our uniform shop is always well stocked with GHPS uniform and available for purchase.

We ask parents to ensure that they provide the correct uniform for their child and that it is worn to school correctly. This includes wearing only maroon, white and navy blue. No other colours are permitted including not wearing black pants or leggings or jackets of other colours.

I will be visiting classrooms this week and taking note of what students are wearing. Parents are asked to support and assist us with this matter as our school is extremely proud of its uniform.

Report Writing All staff are finalising assessment and comments for the December Student Report which will be distributed in Week 11 of the term on Wednesday 14th December. Reports will outline to parents what their child has learnt and how well, where improvement is needed and what should be done next.

Assessment is the ongoing process of gathering, analysing and reflecting on evidence to make informed and consistent judgments to improve future student learning.

Thank you to all staff for their dedication, time and effort which they have devoted to writing the reports and to Mrs Eugenia Sassos, who is the Assessment &Reporting Coordinator and who has the huge task of ensuring all reports are printed and ready for parents.

Finance Committee Meeting is on Monday 28th November in the East Site staff room at 6.30pm followed by the School Council Meeting at 7pm. A School Council Report will be included in the next newsletter.

Advance Notice of Final Assembly Tuesday 20th December, 2016 This will commence at 12.30 – 1.20pm. Students will be dismissed at 1.30pm.

Click Against Hate On the evening of Tuesday 8th November, Manasvi Shirgaonkar and Marlona Deustch represented our school to speak at a celebration night and the launch the Anti-Defamation Commission promotional video.

The event was held at Beth Weizmann Community Centre in Caulfield South. Manasvi, Marlona and myself had already been interviewed and filmed for the video and our contributions had been edited into the final product.

On the evening Manasvi and Marlona, along with representatives from other schools, spoke about the cyber safety benefits of the Click Against Hate program and what it had achieved in their school communities. Manasvi and Marlona were outstanding ambassadors for our school, displaying inspiring and accomplished public speaking skills and received a certificate for their excellent efforts. The school also received a cheque of $150 from the ADC towards our library fund. To view the video please go to https://www.dropbox.com/sh/tpqeg3csccqknsd/AACMT0m1SQFj5I-IchEQKAjta?dl=0 where you will see the extent and impact of the program now being delivered to over 130 schools, with endorsement from the Premier and Police Commissioner of Victoria. Term IV Working Bee On Sunday 6th November the Term IV Working Bee was held during excellent weather conditions. Once again there were many keen participants who donated their time and energy to achieve the following:

Paint the wooden fittings of the sandpit area in bright colours. Rebuild one sand pit. Remove dead plant material from roof section of the sandpit facility and plant new colourful

creepers and vines. Replace the broken concrete tiles of the footpath to the Art room. Tidy and beautify the Bush Tucker garden Weed, tidy and mulch all gardens. Clean out roof spouting and remove all balls from the roofs. Repair and reprop southern boundary fence where required. Rake and reposition any soft fall under playground equipment.

Move fern from Bush Tucker garden to a more shaded area. Carry out minor repairs to Fairy garden fence.

As you can see, a great deal was accomplished. We would like to acknowledge the contributions of the following people who were present on the day: Ian Parsons, the Weiss family, the Blair family, the Simmons family, the Balfour family, the Mentis family, Caitilin Hawkins, Asher and Raphi Bloch, Will Flynn and Jennifer Knight, the Le family, the Gharde family, the Wilson family, the Wolfe family, Peter Mazis, Martina Gevaux and Rosy Eppinger.

Thank you again to Rosy Eppinger for your magnificent and extensive catering to feed and quench the hungry thirsty workers.

As this was their last Working Bee, I would like to especially acknowledge the outstanding contribution to Working Bees over many years by Ian Parsons and Rosy Eppinger. For the past ten years Ian has attended every Working Bee with the exception of two; a truly impressive accomplishment. Rosy has been a keen participant in Working Bees for the past 15 years.

On behalf of the school community, I would like thank you both for your excellent and extensive contributions to our school community through your strong and sustained involvement in Working Bees. David Jenkins Assistant Principal
