VILLAGE OF GLEN ELLYNVillage Board Discusses Downtown Streetscape and UtilityProject at Workshop

On Monday, March 4, the Village Board held a Workshop Meeting tocontinue further discussions on the downtown streetscape project. Nearly 50residents and business owners attended the workshop. The Village Board directed the Design team to retain angled parking on MainStreet and Crescent Boulevard as well as shift to parallel parking on otherblocks in the downtown. These parking options will allow for wider sidewalks,

an increase in parkway trees and will enhance the overall walkability of the downtown. The Board also discussed the estimated budget as well as sidewalk and crosswalk materials, preferring a stamped concrete design. These concepts will be furthered refined as the Designteam finalizes the Phase I engineering plan. For more information on the project, including the parking configuration options discussed, please visit the March 4 agenda packet . Next StepsBased upon the direction the Board has given, Phase I Design Engineering will continue with thedevelopment of design concepts and exhibits, development of a preliminary constructionschedule and continued public outreach. It is anticipated that Phase I will be complete thisspring, with findings presented to the Village Board at a Workshop tentatively in May. Informationwill be forthcoming as future meeting dates are set. Project WebsiteThe Village is continuing to gather input through the project's website. Residents, businessesand visitors can gather more information on the project and explore past and current ideas, plusshare your own.
