This week I have been reflecng on the vision of our school which is to nurture confident, capable, resilient students who are inquisive about the world and learn with meaning and purpose. To have a vision is one thing, but to have this vision embedded and evident in our daily pracces and at the core of our decision making is incredibly grafying and rewarding for our students, staff and community. Spending me with Kindergarten this week and hearing about their excursion to Glebe Library was wonderful. What really impressed me was the confidence they showed when talking about their day and how they connected this excursion to the bigger picture of their learning. Providing opportunies for our students to be confident and capable learners is invaluable. The value add of this excursion was the number of parents and carers who aended and the posivity of geng out into the Glebe community and making connecons. I am proud to lead a school that values the importance of authenc relaonships at all levels. Leadership Planning Day Today our leadership team took part in a planning day. This day allows us the me to work to- gether and look at the big picture of Glebe Public School and how the systems and procedures in place can support whole school development. Some of the things we covered today were leader- ship roles and responsibilies, supporng early career teachers, consistency in teaching and learn- ing programming and evaluaon and mapping the school against the School Excellence Frame- work in the areas of teaching, learning and leadership. Bringing Toys from Home Whilst I understand that our students are thoroughly enjoying playing with the beyblades at the moment, I am asking they please do not bring them to school from next week. We are having some issues with these geng lost or damaged and students becoming upset. I wish you all a relaxing weekend and am looking forward to another producve week of learning, life and fun at Glebe Public School Have a lovely weekend! Principal’s Message

Dear Glebe Community It is hard to believe that we are halfway through Term 1! This week I have been reflecting on the vision of our school which is to nurture confident, capable, resilient students who are inquisitive about the world and learn with meaning and purpose. To have a vision is one thing, but to have this vision embedded and evident in our daily practices and at the core of our decision making is incredibly gratifying and rewarding for our students, staff and community. Spending time with Kindergarten this week and hearing about their excursion to Glebe Library was wonderful. What really impressed me was the confidence they showed when talking about their day and how they connected this excursion to the bigger picture of their learning. Providing opportunities for our students to be confident and capable learners is invaluable. The value add of this excursion was the number of parents and carers who attended and the positivity of getting out into the Glebe community and making connections. I am proud to lead a school that values the importance of authentic relationships at all levels. Leadership Planning Day Today our leadership team took part in a planning day. This day allows us the time to work to-gether and look at the big picture of Glebe Public School and how the systems and procedures in place can support whole school development. Some of the things we covered today were leader-ship roles and responsibilities, supporting early career teachers, consistency in teaching and learn-ing programming and evaluation and mapping the school against the School Excellence Frame-work in the areas of teaching, learning and leadership. Bringing Toys from Home Whilst I understand that our students are thoroughly enjoying playing with the beyblades at the moment, I am asking they please do not bring them to school from next week. We are having some issues with these getting lost or damaged and students becoming upset. I wish you all a relaxing weekend and am looking forward to another productive week of learning, life and fun at Glebe Public School

Sunday March 8 is International Women’s Day which is intended to celebrate women’s social, economic, cultural and political achievements and to call for gender equality. Glebe Public School will be celebrating this significant event throughout the week with a range of activities and lessons acknowledging the contribution women make to our socie-ty and the challenges women still face all over the world to achieve equality. Stage 3 boys and girls have formed a committee to coordinate the activities for the week and further information will appear on Facebook, Twitter and Glebe Matters next week. Word on the Playground…

What started as a quest for giving the birds a safe haven in storms ended up in a genuine

‘humpy’ being built by this group of resourceful and innovative students. For a group to create

the ‘birds nest’, negotiation, cooperation, a shared goal, leadership and lots of branches and

sticks were needed. Students moved in and out of the play scenario, contributing as they saw

a need. It is a most impressive construction that brings us back to our fundamental roots and

working with country to create and embedding critical and creative thinking skills on the play-

ground.

Imaginative play and being inventive in seeking out constructive ways to play is a great way to

spend your childhood. Being outdoors, with your friends, using the creative brain is a fantastic

means to spend recess and lunch times at Glebe. As teachers we greatly enjoy watching these

play scenarios unfold and are so proud of our students undertaking these opportunities.
