AN INTRODUCTION
Running annually for 22 years, Golding Showcase Port Curtis Callide Valley Youth Art Exhibition is a much-anticipated event in the Region’s cultural calendar. Local visual art students between the ages of 15 - 18 were encouraged to submit up to two pieces each and enjoy the experience of having their work displayed in a professional art gallery. This year 88 students submitted 122 works into the exhibition from eight Gladstone Region high schools. Each year a local high school is invited to partner with the exhibition to help with the install and launch. Under the direction of the visual arts teacher, Melanie Loosmore, Trinity College year 10, 11 and 12 students accepted the offer. At the exhibition's official launch hospitality and music students from Trinity College will provide the refreshments and entertainment. The exhibition will be officially launched 6.30pm, Friday 10 June 2016, at the Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum by Cr Matt Burnett, Mayor of Gladstone Region and remain on display from 11 June until 6 August 2016. Visitors to the exhibition are encouraged to vote for their favourite artwork. The work with the most votes is given the People’s Choice Award and becomes the face of the promotional material for the following year’s Showcase. The Showcase is an initiative of the Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum Society and has been continuously supported by Society patron, the Late Cyril Golding. Since his passing in 2012, his widow Shirley Golding continues his legacy.

2016 Golding Bursary Information
The Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum Society Golding Bursary has been established
with the generous support of late Society patron, Mr Cyril Golding, to assist students from
the Gladstone, Port Curtis and Callide Valley region of Central Queensland in pursuing
tertiary studies in all aspects of Visual Arts. The bursary will be carried on now by his widow,
Shirley Golding and the members of the Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum Society.
It is recognised that students from this region have to leave the area to undertake tertiary
studies in Visual Arts and this places an additional burden on them and their families. It is
intended that the Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum Society Golding Bursary will
benefit such students.
