Otávio is 10 years-old and is in the third grade at Mão Amiga Brazil. His family lives in São Paulo, Brazil which is close to Mão Amiga. Otávio lives with his mother, step -father, and step-sister. His step-sister, Rafaela also attends Mão Amiga with him. When Otávio first came to Mão Amiga he was very shy, and because of his shyness he had many difficulties with the rules of grammar. His family actively took part to try and help him open up and become more social with the aid of a psychologist from school. Mão Amiga Brazil gears their program to help families throughout their lives, and through any difficulties. Now Otávio participates in all of his classes and follows along throughout each lesson. He feels proud now because of how happy his parents are with his improved work.
