Gillwinga has excellent teaching, administrative and support staff who do a wonderful job and I thank them for their continued commitment. HOLIDAY DATES Next week is the last week of school for Term 3 with the final day being Friday 23 rd September. School will re-commence for all students and staff on Monday 10 th October as there is no Staff Development Day at the beginning of Term 4. PRESENTATION DAY Parents/carers are please asked to mark Tuesday 6 th December on their calendars as our school ‘Presentation Day’. For parents and carers of students in year 5 & 6 we are currently negotiating with venues for the year 6 farewell and anticipate that this will be held on Thursday 8 th December. We will advise everyone of the exact date early next term. SKIPPING TEAM Last week Mrs Carrigan and Miss Watters took the skipping team on tour to Narranga Public and Toormina Public School. Once again the students did a fantastic job and were great ambassadors not only for the National Heart Foundation but also for our school. GRAFTON HIGH SCHOOL TRANSITION DAY
For those students who will be attending Grafton High School in 2017 there will be a ‘Taster Day’ held on Monday 19th December. Parents and carers should have received information concerning this day, if not, they are please asked to contact the High School to find out the necessary information.
MUFTI DAY AND DISCO
Thank you to Ms Cross and the Year 6 students for organising the mufti day, sausage sizzle and disco held on Tuesday. All funds raised from this activity will go towards the purchase of a farewell gift and towards subsidising the cost of the year 6 farewell later in the year.
JACARANDA
Jacaranda is fast approaching and this year we will be scaling back our involvement in Jacaranda as there will be no Community of Schools Choir. Gillwinga’s involvement in Jacaranda will consist of our nursing home tour for the band, choir and dance group. Whilst we acknowledge that Jacaranda is an important community event we are unable to support all the scheduled activities. Jacaranda Thursday for 2017 will be held on November 3rd .
YEAR 4/5/6 CAMP
The year 4/5/6 camp at the Coffs Coast Adventure Centre is set down for 14th November 2016 which is Monday week 4 of next term. For those parents/carers who are paying by instalments the final payment is due by Friday 21st October. Parents/carers are reminded that they can pay online by logging into the schools website http://www.gillwinga-p.schools.nsw.edu.au/ and using the $ MAKE A PAYMENT option on the home page. Total cost of the camp is $150.00. If you have any queries about the camp please contact the front office.
