Year 6 Transition to High School Staff from Macintyre High School and Inverell High School will visit our school next Wednesday 28th August to speak to our Year 6 students about their transition to Year 7. 2019 Education Week Awards Helen Drewitt received an award for ‘Outstanding Contribution to the School by a Staff Member’ at the Sapphire Community of Schools’ Education Week Awards Night held at the Riverside on 7th August . Congratulations, Helen! Danthonia Bruderhof Community Excursion Last Thursday, Gilgai Public School’s K/1/2 class, along with Gum Flat students, went on an excursion to the Danthonia Bruderhof Community. Both students and teachers enjoyed experiencing the different culture and way of life, and had a great time overall. A huge thank you to the Danthonia Bruderhof Community! Zone Athletics Carnival Last Friday, Heidi Borthwick, Chloe Seagrott, Jordan Bagnell, Ben Hallam, Cody Rozynski and Alex Wilson proudly represented Gilgai Public School in the Zone Athletics Carnival in Inverell. Results are as follows: Alex, Cody, Jordan and Heidi participated in the Nigel Bagley Relay and won the race Jordan came 2nd in his 200m heat Cody came 3rd in 200m race Alex came 1st in high jump at a height of 1.2 metres Congratulations to all our participants! In the coming few days, students will be notified as to who qualified to move into regionals at Tamworth on the 13th September. Gilgai Public School - Little Learners 2020 Just a reminder to all prospective 2020 Kindergarten parents that our transition program commenced last Wednesday 14th August. The second week of transition is tomorrow, Wednesday 21st August. Little Learners will enjoy participating in ‘team work and treasure hunt’ activities. Tomorrow’s transition will also include an open classroom, school tour and picnic between 11:00am and 1:00pm. Our Book Week Parade will not take place on this day, rather in Week 8. If you are interested in your child attending Kindergarten at Gilgai Public School in 2020, please contact the office on 6723 1309 for details, or pick up a brochure which is full of information about our terrific program. Small Schools Gala Day Students will be participating in a Small Schools Gala Day on Friday 6th September. We will advise of more details shortly. Cricket Coaching This Wednesday 21st August, all Gilgai Public School students will have the opportunity to take part in cricket coaching as we will have Mitchell Wood visiting from Nathan Lyons Cricket Coaching Clinic. Congratulations Lachlan Pillidge Lachlan had been chosen to compete in the North West Region PSSA Gymnastics Gala Day on 12th August in Armidale. A huge congratulations to Lachie for winning a Bronze Medal in this event!

Help needed!!! We are looking for canteen helpers. Our canteen allows our kids to

have a variety of lunch options on Fridays.

It also helps raise funds towards different projects.

We went to Danthonia community with Dominic. He is at Gum Flat.

He is my new friend, he was nice.

I liked the bikes because I went fast.

It was red and had wheels and I want one at Gilgai.
