Year 6 Zombies Well our zombies looked fantastic today as they went off to their transition day at Nambucca Heads High School. I am sure they are having a fantastic day getting ready for 2019. It will be sad to see such an excellent group of students leave but we know they are going to a great school
and won’t be too far away!

Week 3
31 October 2018 Nambucca Heads Public School is an outstanding school, our team is proud of our strong culture, high expectations and successful learners. We cater for the whole child and every single person in our learning community is welcomed, valued and included. Our future focused learning design enables students to be resilient, persistent and confident learners.
Leisure Sport Sport was a huge success last week. I was very proud of our surfers for
battling it out with the wind.
There were several fish caught last week as well in tricky conditions along with tangles and snags galore as a result of the wind but our kids had their usual positive approach and made the most of the opportunity. Looking forward to a
calmer day this week.
Reading at Home Last week I wrote about reading at home and how significant this is for your child’s future. Please let us know if you would like some support with organising appropriate books or how to read with
your child. It will make a difference!
Got It Please have a read of the Got It program update within this newsletter. The Got It program runs for the rest of the year and has staff and parents working together to support our young students. A huge thank you to Shannon Trindall for his support within this program. Regards

PBL Focus - RESPECT We are focusing on what it means to be respectful to self, others (students, teachers, visitors) and environment (school wide, classroom) at Nambucca Heads Public School. Treating others with respect means you show them, through your words and actions, that you care about the impact you have on them. We are looking for students who are using respectful language (including manners), using positive tone, are inclusive of others, respecting different spaces eg learning environment - getting on with work, appropriate voice and playground - taking turns, sharing and following rules. We are encouraging language that shows others - trust, inclusiveness, responsibility, kindness, sharing, support to others, compliments, caring, friendly tone of voice, cooperation with a focus on respect. Learning intention ● Students demonstrate the ability to use decision-making skills to enhance
and create/positive personal relationships ● Students become familiar with ways to show kindness toward others ● Students identify actions that help others feel welcome, cooperative, and
cared for ● To encourage and reinforce positive behaviours
Got it
Got It! Tip of the Week Reading feelings books will help you to sup-port your child to learn about emotions. While reading different books, you may ask him questions that help him to think about differ-ent emotions and to learn how to recognise feelings. For example, you might ask, “How do you think she is feeling?”, “How do you know that he is feeling sad?”, “What is his face doing that lets us know he is angry?” and “What is her body doing to let us know she is excited?”. You can also start asking your child how he might feel if he was in the same situation as the character in the book.

School student applications for 2019 open from Monday, 15 October 2018.
Students progressing to year 3 and year 7 do not need to re-apply if they: · are continuing at the same school · are residing at the same address · have not been sent an expiry notification from Transport for NSW.
Where a student meets the new distance eligibility, the system will automatically update their entitlement. If they do not meet the new eligibility, they will receive an expiry notification. Students who have an entitlement approved under a medical condition which is due to expire will receive a notification advising them to re-apply. Term Bus Pass holders will receive a notification to re-apply. If students need to update their information or re-apply, they should go online to https://apps.transport.nsw.gov.au/ssts/updateDetails Applications need to be submitted before 31 December 2018 to ensure student entitlements are updated and their current entitlement/card is not cancelled. If their application is submitted after 31 December 2018, the system will auto-matically cancel a card and a new one will need to be issued. Students in the Opal network applying for a SSTS or Term Bus Pass entitlement for the first time will receive their card at their nominated postal address. Cards will be mailed out during December 2018 and January 2019. Students residing in Rural and Regional (R&R) areas should receive their travel pass at the commencement of the new school year from their nominated opera-tor. Note: some R&R operators do not issue travel passes. Students should check with their operator for more information. Please see the attached information regarding printed school travel brochures. If school administrators require access to the school portal to endorse student applications, please request an account at https://appln.transport.nsw.gov.au/portal/requests/account/school For further information visit https://apps.transport.nsw.gov.au/ssts Regards, Transport for NSW
