SummaryIn June 2014 Lamptech approached the Sydney Olympic Park Tennis Center to discuss replacing the existing metal halide lighting system with GigaTera LEDrsquos This project marked the first installation for a broadcast quality sporting facility in Australia The project consisted of a total of 120 Sufa 400W fittings installed at 6 courts with the primary goal of increasing existing light levels while achieving power savings and the minor goal of lowered maintenance costs

GigaTera was able to deliver all of the SUFA 400W unites in about 6 weeks since the project commenced on October 7th It was de-termined that the soil conditions were such that medium duty rat-ed poles were required for the fittings so existing light duty poles were replaced with the medium ones A total of 6 courts were relit using GigaTerarsquos Sufa 400W with 40 units of SUFA 400W being installed on court 1 making it the largest number of lights on any one court The other 5 courts had 16 lights installed per court The project was planned so that there would be 2 Sufa 400W units for every 2KW unit though some areas requiring dramatic increases in light output resulted in only marginal energy savings
