1. Introduction:

Instead of buying a physic product as a gift, the receipient maybe like or not like this

product, people nowaday want something else that is convinient, one size fit for all. By

using this Extension, your customers could purchase a gift card for their friends or family

members. The receipients could use these gift card to purchase a specific products for

their own at your online store with higher satisfaction and convinience both for the givers

and the receipients.

1.1. Feature

1.1.1. For Customers

Purchase

Purchase Gift Card product with 3 types of price products: Fixed, Dropdown or

Range price

Customers can purchase Gift Cards conveniently with different values.

Allow multiple people to use one gift code as configured in backend.

When the recipient receives the Gift Card, a notification emails will be sent to the

sender

Gift Card prices can be equal or smaller than their face values.

Customers can select a Gift Card template among 2 beautiful default styles and

upload their own background.

Buyers can preview Gift Card with information and design chosen before add to

cart

Buyers can drag & drop to upload image used for Gift Card.

Recipient can simple to use the gift card to purchase.

Deliver

Buyers can choose to provide their name or not when sending Gift Card to friends

Buyers can insert their name and custom message for friends.


Buyers can schedule to send Gift Cards on a chosen date and time (choose any

time zone).

Gift cards can be delivered online (via email) or offline (to post office) to buyers

or other recipients.

User ( recipients)

Customer can use Gift card as a discount coupon or a discount method when

customers purchase product.

Recipients can add the Gift Card to their lists by clicking on the link in the email.

Can use gift card to pay for shipping fee (adminer can config in backend).

Can not use gift card credit to purchase another gift card product.

Tracking

After they buy Gift Cards, the system automatically adds gift codes to their Gift

Card list

Add Gift Card to their own lists in 1 click with the link in the email.

Track which gift cards sent to friends.

View gift card usage history in My Account.

Buyer/ recipient can receive confirmation email with Gift Card.

Sender can receive notification emails when gift card is delivered

2. HOW TO USE

This section shows how Customers can use Gift Cards in the frontend.


2.1. Purchase a Gift Card Product The Gift Card can be ordered/ purchased as a normal product. Customers can upload

image, enter or choose the value and quantity of Gift Card they want to purchase, then

click on Add to Cart button.

The price of Gift Card product may differ from Gift Card value. It depends on

Admin‟s configuration in the backend, which could be a fixed value or a percentage of

Gift Card value. If the price type is “percentage”, Customers will see the corresponding

Gift Card prices when they choose different Gift Card values.

After choosing a preferred template, Customers can select 1 out of available

background images. It is possible for Customers to personalize their Gift Card by

uploading their own image as well. The recommended size for images to upload is

600x365px for the Top layout or 744x455px for the Amazon layout . 3 file types are


supported including .GIF, .JPG and .PNG. Max file supported is depends on Admin

configuration.

If Customers upload an image with an unsupported file type or the image is larger

than the maximum file size configured by Admin, the system will auto-show an alert

message to notify Customers. Customers can also see the expiration date of the Gift Card

on Gift Card image.

For Gift Card products that have usage conditions, the conditions will NOT be

displayed below the product name. However, the admin can write the conditions in the

description if it is necessary for customers to see. If anyone want to redeem the gift cards

(enter the gift code to purchase one or many

products) but does not meet the condition(s), then the system will show an „Invalid‟

notice.

With Gift Card type is eGift Card or Mix, customers can also send Gift Cards to

their friends by ticking Send to friend checkbox and enter all the required fields:

2 To The name of the recipient

3 Email The email address of the recipient. The

system will send an email which contains a

Gift Card code to this email address.

4 Message The message is delivered along with the Gift

Card code.

5 Delivery Date Customers can set up the date and time zone

that a Gift Card will be sent. 6 Timezone


To preview how the Gift Card actually looks like when recipients receive,

Customers can click on the Gift Card thumbnail image. A popup of Gift Card interface

will be shown as below:

After Customers add a Gift Card product to cart, they can go to shopping cart page

to review the cart. Customer can edit the qty as normal product.

The details of Gift Card will show on cart page. The customer can not use the Gift

Card code to purchase Gift Card product.


Then Gift Cards products can be checkout as normal products. Customers will

receive a Gift Card code if they buy for themselves. In case Customers purchase the Gift

Card to send to their friends, the code will be delivered to their friend‟s email with the

following form:


The notification will be sent to sender email address immediately after

the Gift Card is delivered to the friend‟s email as below:

The recipients can print the gift card by click to the link „Print Gift Card now‟ in the

email.


Customer can add the gift code to check the Status ,Balance and Expired Date on

the Gift Card tab in Account Dashboard page


2.2. Use Gift Card as a discount method When Customers have Gift Card codes, they can use them as a discount coupon when

ordering a product at the Checkout and Cart page.

On cart page:

The customer can enter multi-gift-code in this case to purchase products or choice the

exist gift code. Then click on Add Gift Card button to apply.

On checkout page:


3. How to configure

3.1. Configuration First, you need to log in to backend screen and then do the following stages to configure

the setting:

Click “Gift Card” then Click “Configuration”.


General:

1. Module Enable: select “Yes”.

2. Gift code partten: Configure the partten to automatically generate the code for the

gift card that customers purchase in the frontend, you can follow the rule below.

The example for the setting:

3. The prefixes number of giftcode: in the blank space, enter the number characters

which are shown in voucher code.

4. Hidden Character: in the blank space, fill in any letter to replace default hidden

character “X”.


Gift Card Code Configuration

1. Gift Card Lifetime: fill in the active duration for the code after being released and

activated.

2. Maximum time(s) to enter gift code incorrectly: fill in the maximum times that are

allowed for customer enter the gift code incorrectly.

3. Maximum number of users per gift code: Fill in the number that is maximum users

enter the gift code to use.

4. Can Use For Shipping Amount: you can select “yes” if you want to apply shipping

fee on Gift Card, if you don‟t want, you can select “no”.

5. Use Gift Cards as coupon codes: If you want to let the customer use Gift Card as

the Coupon Code, select “yes”. If you don‟t want, select “no”.

Show the link to check Gift Card code on Website: to let the customer check the Gift

Card code status on the Website after entering the Gift Codes, select “yes”. If you don‟t

want, select “no”

Show Gift Card expiry date on Website: to let the customer check the expiration date of

the Gift Card on Website select “yes” and vice versa.

Gift Card template

1. Allow customers upload images into template: if you would like to let the

customer upload the images into the template, click “yes”. If you don‟t want, click

“no”

2. Maximum size of image(s) uploaded by customers: Set the limtation for the size

of image(s) uploaded by customers ( Kilobyte units)


Gift Card shipping information

3. Allow shipping Gift Card: If you allow shipping Gift Card, click “yes”. If you

don‟t allow, click “no”.

4. Minimum days for store owner to send Gift Card through post office: Let the

customer(s) know how long does it take to send Gift Card to customer(s) throught

post office by entering the number of days.

5. Message max length: enter the maximum number of characters you allow in

message.

6. Enable scheduling Gift Card delivery: you can choose “yes” or “no” as your

choice.

On Shopping Cart Page

1. Show Gift Card box on shopping cart page: if you choose “yes” ,there will be a

Gift Card box for customers to apply gift code right on the shopping cart page.

2. Gift Card Fields Show On Item: You can choose the fields you want to show on

item in the list box below.

3. Show Gift Card image as product image in shopping cart: choose “yes” if you

want to show Gift Card image as product image in shopping cart, if you don‟t

want then choose “no”.


On Checkout Page

Show Gift Card box on Checkout Page: choose “yes” , there will be a Gift Card box for

customers to apply gift code right on Checkout Page. If you don‟t want to show the Gift

Card box on Checkout Page , choose “no”.

Email Notification

General

1. Enable email notification: if you want to enable email notification, select “yes”.

2. Send Gift Card to friend when Gift Card status is: you can choose the statuses of

Gift Card in the list, you can select more than one status

3. Sender of email notification: you can choose the sender as “General” or other

senders in the box.

4. Send Gift Card copy via email: Choose “yes” if you want to send the Gift Card

copy via email or choose “no” if you don‟t want to do so.


Gift Card Notification

Send-to-purchaser email template when recipient receives Gift Card: default option.

Send-to-purchaser email template when recipient receives Gift Card: default option.

Notification email sent to recipient

Send notification email to recipient when purchaser refunds Gift Card: you can select

“yes” or “no”.

Send-to-recipient email template: default option.

Send-to-recipient email template when Gift Card is refunded: default option.

Auto-send reminder email before Gift Card expires: If you want to remind customer

automatically via email, choose “yes”. If not, choose “No”.

Auto-send reminder email before: enter the value into the blank box. The default value

was 7.


Logo

Logo gift card: Click the “select files” button to upload the image (jpeg, gif, png) will be

used on Gift Card.

After you have done all the steps for configuration, click “save config” button on the top

of page.

When you have done all the configuration, save the configuration by click the “save

config” button


3.2. Gift card product manager To create Gift Card on Gift Card Products Manager page, Go to Gift Card menu→

Gift Card Products.


To create new Gift Card products, Click on Add Gift Card Product button

You should pay attention to the following tabs:


New Product

Enable product: choose “yes”.

Attribute Set: choose “default” or “ Downloadable.

Product name: enter the name of the Gift Card that you want to set.

SKU: Enter the SKU number into the blank space.

Tax class: You can choose None, Taxable Goods, Refund Adjustments, Gift Options,

Order Gift Wrapping, Item Gift Wrapping, Printed Gift Card, Reward Points.

Quantity: enter the number of available Gift Cards in stock.

Stock Status: Choose “in stock” if you want to sell. If you havent got any Gift card yet,

choose “ out of stock”.

Weight: This item has no weight.

Visibility: choose “Catalog, search”.

Categories: select the “gift card” category in the list.


Set Product as New From: range of time that make the notification about new product

recently uploaded.

Gift Card Setting

Type of Gift Card: you can choose Print at Home, eGift Card, Mix for your type of

Gift Card.

Gift Card Template: you can choose standard or animated as your choice.

Type of Gift Card value: there are 3 types of gift card value: Range of values, Fixed

value, Dropdown values.

If you choose Range of value

Minimum Gift Card value: enter the number of munimum Gift Card value ( US Dollar

unit ).

Maximum Gift Card value: enter the number of maximum Gift Card value ( US Dollar

unit ).

If you choose Fixed value

Gift Card Value: enter the number of Gift Card Value ( US Dollar unit ).


Type of Gift Card price: You can choose one of 3 options: Same as Gift Card Value,

Fixed Price or Percentage of Gift Card Value.

If you choose Fixed Price:

Gift Card price: enter the number of Us Dollar

If you choose Percentage of Gift Card Value

Percentage: enter the number of percentage

Content:

Enter the Discription and Short Description of your Gift Card.

Images and Videos

Click to camera icon to drag the image for your Gift Card or click to Add Video button

to browse the video.

Search Engine Optimization

URL Key: enter they Key of URL.

Meta title: is the description of the website / page / post describing the overall content of

the page. This is the same and the name of the content when it shows up on Google.

Meta Keywords: Meta Keywords are HTML tags located in the head section of the


HTML code of a website. It will help search engines determine the subject that the site

transmits to the user.

Meta Description: Meta description is simply a piece of information that appears in the

search results to summarize the content of the website.

Related Products, Up-Sells, and Cross-Sells

You can add Related, Up-Sells and Cross – Sells Products from the products list by click

the corresponding button on the right side.

Customizable Options

Custom options let customers choose the product variations they want.

Product in Websites

Click in Main Website box, If your Magento installation has multiple websites, you can

edit the scope to use the product on specific sites.


Design

Layout: you can choose empty, 1 column, 2 columns with left bar, 2 columns with

right bar, 3 columns in the drop box.

Display Product Options In: you can choose Block after info Column ( default) or

Product Info Column.

Layout update XML: write down update XML on the blank, or let it be empty.

Schedule Design Update

Schedule Update From: Set the schedule by click the calendar icon.

New Theme: you can choose Magento Blank or Magento Luma.

New Layout: you can choose empty, 1 column, 2 columns with left bar, 2 columns

with right bar, 3 columns in the drop box.

3.3. Manage Gift Code/ create the gift code To reach the Manage Gift Code page, go to Gift Card menu -> Manage the Gift Codes


This page produce to you the detailed list of all gift codes in your system, including the

gift codes created both from front-end and back-end. The Gift codes are neatly organized

in the table with essential information such as Initial Value, Current Balance, Status,…

To save time, our module allows you to sellect multiple of Gift Codes in the table and

apply the following actions at the same time:


Export the list to CSV or Excel XML files.


Delete, Change Status, Send Email or Print Gift Code the selected Gift Code.

If you want to edit the information of each Gift Code by click on the Edit at the end of

each corresponding row

There are 2 ways to add new Gift Codes: Import Gift Codes or Add Gift Code.


If you want to import the gift codes from a CSV file, Click on Import Gift Codes button

on the top right conner of the Gift Code Manger page.

On the Import Gift Code page, brose your CSV file by click Choose File button, then

click on the Import or Import and Print button.


If you want to create/generate the Gift Codes manually, select Add Gift Code and finish

the form as below:

[N.4] : 4 numeric characters

system will auto-create a gift code

matching this

pattern, GIFT-ADFA-12NF0O for

example.

2 Gift Code Value 10 The fixed value for the gift code is $10

3 Currency US Dollar The currency unit for gift code value is US

Dollar

4 Status Active When the gift code‟s status is “active”,

Customers can use it in frontend.

5 Expired on 11/3/2018 The expiration date for the gift code is

November 3rd, 2018

6 Store view All Store Views Customers can use the gift code in all store

views.

7 Comment Add Admin‟s notes if needed

3.4. Generate Gift Codes Pools

To reach the Gift Codes Pools page, go to Gift Card menu -> Generate Gift Codes

Pools.


This page provide the detaild list of the Gift Code Pattern. For an event, instead of

generating one by one Gift Code, you can create large amount of Gift Code as you want

for one purpose to save time.

If you want to edit the information of each Gift Codem Pattern by click on the Edit at the

end of each corresponding row.

If you want to create/generate the Gift Code Pattern, select Add Gift Code Pattern and

finish the form as below:



1 Pattern name Chrismas The name of the Pattern.

2 Gift Code Pattern GIFT-[A.4]-[AN.6] Configure the pattern to generate a

gift code as the following

example:

[A.8] : 8 alpha characters

[N.4] : 4 numeric characters

[AN.6] : 6 alphanumeric

characters

If you enter GIFT-[A.4]-[AN.6] as

the sample, the system will auto-

create a gift code matching this

pattern, GIFT-ADFA-12NF0O for

example.

3 Gift Code Value 10 The fixed value for the gift code is

$10

4 Currency US Dollar The currency unit for gift code

value is US Dollar

5 Expired on 11/3/2018 The expiration date for the gift

code is November 3rd, 2018

After entering all data, remember to click on Save, Save And Generate or Save and

Continue Edit to save your work.


3.5. Manage Gift Card Template This function helps you create unlimited templates for Gift Card with different titles,

designs, images and notes. You can flexibly customize Gift Cards for different purposes,

such as X-mas Gift Card or Birth Day Gift Card, offering Customers a wide range of

choices.

To access Manage Gift Card Template page, go to Gift Card menu → Gift Card

Templates.

The content of the Manage Gift Card Template page will be displayed as below:

This page contains all available templates in the system. If you want to change status

/delete templates in mass, simply select multiple rows, apply an action then click on OK

button.


You can click on Preview button at the right of corresponding row to see how Gift Cards

using the template will look like.

If you want to create new Gift Card templates, select Add New Template button and

finish the form as below:


1 Template Name Gift Card for Xmas Name of the Gift Card template.

2 Design Pattern Default – gift card Choose the Design Pattern of the

Gift Card.

3 Notes Converting to cash is

allowed. You can use

When you finish, remember to click on Save or Save and Continue Edit to save your

work.

3.6. Gift Card History All actions related to Gift Card such as: Create, Update, Mass Update, Spend on order,

Refund and Redeem are recorded on Gift Card History page. Go to Gift Card menu →

Gift Card History to access this page.

On Gift Card History page, you will know when Gift Cards were created/ updated/

redeemed/ spent/ refunded and by whom as well as their values and status.

You can filter data with the above criteria to get more accurate reports. Information can

be exported to .CSV or .XML files for your convenience.
