An Example The systems would have to be

formalised and regulated, this would lead to a ‘loss of cool’ and therefore they would be less attractive to students

A fuller debate needs to be had around issues of articulations of ‘personal identity’.

The use of them in learning would lead to superficial learning rather than in-depth discussion

There would be a lack of quality control in the content

Formal use of them would make membership compulsory, impinging the individuals rights

The network is a brand not an educational asset

The systems are an e-representation of the holistic education experience, reflecting learning and socialisation

There are opportunities to build communities

Students can find mentors and buddies for support

The education sector should reflect social systems, social network sites are now common and there intelligent application should be a skill set that students have

Our ‘users’ are already there – we need to go after them

"the biggest challenge that librarians face related to web 2.0 is the post

Email TOCs – require effort

Your ZETOC Alert list called dff4qj belonging to the Athens username hwulibram is due to expire on Wed 21 Jun 2006.

“Some users reported that the alerts they themselves had set ‘haunted them’. I have exactly the same feeling, as sometimes it feels like the alerts I have set for myself are self-inflicted spam”

University of Teesside

In most cases library staff have the most opportunity to interact with students and staff

Teesside are placing these staff at the centre of the student experience

Paul Mayes, the deputy librarian is responsible for developing an emerging community of practice in both academic and community areas
