PDP Session for First Year students by Mr. Suneel Keswani, Corporate Trainer from New Delhi
A one day RISE 2 SHINE training programme was organized on
November 1, 2014, by the placement cell of GHS-IMR for the
first year PGDM students. The resource person for the program
was Mr. Suneel Keswani, a versatile Scholar and Corporate
Trainer from New Delhi well spoked on topics like We all need
Motivation & Guidance, Business & Economic Trends, Business
Etiquettes, Advantage of Effective Communication (including
English Speaking), Knowing Thy Self & Attitude building,
Becoming a Professional, etc. The program was very
interactive and included slide shows, film clips, experience
sharing & group activities. It was a good learning experience for
the participating students.
The placement cell of GHS-IMR organized a workshop
on 'Dos and Don'ts of Personal Interviews' on
November 5, 2014 for the final year students. The guest
speaker for the workshop was Ms. Preet Kaur, a
personality development trainer. The Students were
exposed to the different evaluation criteria adopted by
recruiters during a Personal Interview (PI) like how to
handle difficult interview questions, types of PI, how to
handle success/rejection, etc. It was a good learning
experience for all participating students. Other PDP
session was conducted on Nov. 13, 2014 for senior
students. The entire exercise proved to be a 'moment of
truth' for participating students, followed by other two
PDP sessions held on Nov. 18 2014 and Nov. 26 2014.

A workshop on the topic 'Multiple Alternative
Investments - Leverage Buy Out's, Venture Capital,
Mezzanine, Real Estate funds, etc.' was organized by
GHS-IMR for Finance and IB students on November 10,
2014. The facilitator for the session was Mr. Vikas
Pandey, B.Tech., MBA, and Fellow student at IIM,
Lucknow. The session was very interactive.

The students visited the factories like :
1. Parle Biscuits Ltd.
2. Micro Metal Turners- MMT
3. Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd.-BHEL
4. Tata Motors Ltd.
5. Titan Industries Ltd.
6. Bisleri
7. Mahindra & Mahindra Agri
These factories were located in and around
Rudrapur in Uttarakhand. The students on one
side observed the latest automation techniques
at the Tata Motors plant manufacturing Iris and
on the other hand witnessed the labour intensive
work at Titan. The magnanimity of the project
and product was visible in BHEL.
The second phase of the Industrial visit started at
Mukteshwar where students spent a night in the
camps under the stars in the vicinity of the snow
clad Upper Himalayas. Camping activity
involved Jungle trek, Rock climbing, Rappelling,
Archery and night trek. on reaching the second
destination, Bhim Tal, the students were thrilled
by the activity of Para sailing, Kayaking, Flying
fox and other activities. the last destination was
Jim Courbet National park which saw the
serenity of nature and natural habitat in the
national park.
The 8 day expedition came to a successful end on
16-Nov 2014 when the joyous, enthusiastic,
some-what more sensible (through their new
experience) and slightly tired lot of students met
their parents back in kanpur.
INDUSTRIAL TRIP 2015
GHS-IMR participated in National Vendor Developmentprogram & Industrial Exhibition organized by MSME-DI
National Vendor Development program & Industrial Exhibition was organized
by MSME-DI, Kanpur on 21st and 22nd March, 2015. GHSIMR was
associated as a partner institution and helped in organizing the event. GHS-
IMR students organized the inaugural function. First year students; Ms.
Shreya Dosar, Neha Pandey & Payal Gupta volunteered in the inaugural
function. Students also participated in the technical sessions in which policies
regarding micro, small and medium enterprises were discussed. Students also
collected the feedback from different vendor from MSME and PSUs, who
participated in the exhibition. In the technical session, Mr. Kunwar Milind
Singh, Faculty GHS-IMR spoke on ‘Export Promotion- MSME Perspective’.
The students were applauded for their effort by the Director and the staff of
MSME. Students organized the event under the supervision of Mr.Kunwar
Milind Singh and Dr. Sunil Shukla. Students volunteered in the event include
Gaurav Tandon ,Shreya Dosar, Abhay Singh Rathour, Payal Gupta, Sahiba
Khan, Neha Pandey, Mubashshir Shakeel, Sakshi Agarwal, Shadab Riyaz,
Vedant Agnihotri, Praharsh Awasthi, Akash Saraogi, Krati Mishra, Kanishk
Dubey, Anurag Mishra, Deepali Pandey.

GHS-IMR in association with the leading financial daily Business
Standard conducted a business quiz for the first and second year
management students on November 20, 2014. The quiz consisted
of 50 questions based on Business, Finance, Economy and Brand
building. On- the-spot evaluation was done by the Business
Standard team and Top three scorers were awarded Gold, Silver
and Bronze medals along with certificates. The winners were
Deeksha Maurya of 2nd year (Gold), Kopal Jaiswal of 2nd year
(Silver) and Abhinav Agarwal of 2nd year (Bronze).

Mr. Parag Chaudhary, Corporate Trainer, took a PDP session on
November 19, 2014, on the topic 'Time & Work'. He explained the
quick methods to solve such tricky questions usually asked by
recruiting companies through online tests for testing the quantitative
ability of potential candidates.

Guest lecture on “Age of Disrupter” by Dr. Sid Gautam
GHS-IMR was honored by the presence of Dr. Sid Gautam, who had
come all the way from US to deliver a lecture on the topic “Age of
Disruptor”. Dr. (Prof.) Rakesh Premi, Director GHS-IMR introduced
the guest speaker to the audience. Dr. Sid Gautam was born and
educated in India. He holds a PhD in Financial Economics. He was
chairman of the department of Economics and Business
Administrator for 20 years at Methodist University (US). He
founded the Center for Entrepreneurship in 1973. Recipient of
Distinguished Service Award by the United National Association of
the United States, “Entrepreneur of the Year” in 2011, and the
highest “Medallion” of the Methodist University award. According
to Dr. Gautam “We're living in the Age of Disruptor — a time when
technology has flattened the world, making it easier for new
companies to be born, but more difficult for traditional companies to
do anything but cut costs and cut jobs”. He further added that in the
Age of Disruptor, change has become the only constant: business
models are being torn up daily, and the skill-sets required of both
workers and managers are in a constant state of redefining. Later at
the end of the session he distributed prizes to Ms. Deeksha Maurya
for securing first place, Ms. Kopal Jaiswal for securing the second
position and Mr. Abhinav for securing the third position in the
Business Quiz contest conducted by Business Standard.
Dr. Gaur Hari Singhania Institute of Management & Research
organised a blood donation camp in association with HDFC Bank
and Rotary Club, Kanpur North on 3rd December, 2014 in the
institute campus. The Inaugural function started at 9:00AM. The
camp saw great enthusiasm, not only among the students but
outsiders as well. A large number of people flocked in to make the
event successful. The ceremony was flagged off by Dr. (Prof.)
Rakesh Premi. Director, GHS-IMR, Kanpur, Sh. Sajjad Hasan
Rizvi, Sr. Manager, HDFC Bank and Sh. Ajay Dixit , President,
Rotary Club , Kanpur North. The Programme was convened by Dr.
Sunil Shukla. Seventy Seven people donated blood to the Blood
Bank of GSVM College, Kanpur in the camp. All Faculty members
and staff helped in to make the event a grand success.

the day at the inaugural ceremony of Athletic Meet -One-day annual
sport meet of Dr. Gaur Hari Singhania Institute of Management &
Research, Kanpur Mrs. Rashmi Premi inaugurated the first ever
sports meet organized by Students of GHS-IMR, at Sports Ground on
Saturday January 10, 2015. He congratulated the students for
organizing the first ever sports event at GHS-IMR, Kanpur. Hundreds
of student participated in the Athletic Meet which was followed by
200 meter boys/girls heats, Shot-put (girls/boys/ faculty-staff),
Cricket Match, 200 m finals(Girls/boys), 400 m(heats) (girls/boys)
events. Event was organized by the student of GHS-IMR under the
guidance of faculty coordinator Mr. Shashi Kant Dikshit.
Athletic Meet -One-day annual sport meet organized by GHS-IMR
“Investor's Awareness Programmeon behalf of SEBI and AMFI” at GHS-IMR
An “Investor Awareness Programme” was conducted on January
20, 2015 by Tiksna Mission Trust on behalf of SEBI (Securities &
Exchange Board of India) and AMFI (Association of Mutual Fund in
India), and working in partnership with Reliance AMC. The
facilitators for the workshop were Mr. Sajid Hossain and Mr. Vinay
Singh Gaur, financial consultants, who were introduced to the
audience by Dr. Bhagwan Jagwani. The workshop highlighted the
working of Financial Markets and financial products. Participants
were made aware of various available investment avenues. The
programme helped the audience to enhance their knowledge of
Financial Markets and also inculcate in them the habit of
investments with Financial Planning. It was a participative
discussion supplemented by investment focused short videos and
presentation slides. The presentation was followed by a Question-
Answer round. Overall it was a learning experience for the
participating audience.

and make the event as Utsav on 24th January 2015. Entire campus was
decorated with yellow colour which feels like arrival of Basant. Faculty,
staff and students also dressed up in yellow. Mrs. Rashmi Premi graced the
occasion with her presence. Celebration started with Poojan and Havan
and followed by Prasad distribution and High tea. A cultural program was
also organised by the students, program started with Saraswati Vandana,
followed by cultural activities, performed by the students which makes the
audience completely mesmerized.

Panel Discussion on “Building National Economic Consensus:The Role of India Inc.”
A Panel discussion on the occasion of All India Management
Association (AIMA) Foundation day was organized by Kanpur
Management Association in association with GHSIMR. The
theme of the panel discussion was “Building national economic
consensus – Role of India Inc.''. The speakers on the occasion
were Mr. Parvez, Director National Productivity council (NPC)
and Mr. Kunwar Milind Singh, Assistant Professor (Economics &
IB). Dr. (Prof.) Rakesh Premi, Director GHSIMR, welcome the
guest Mr. Lalit Khanna, President, Kanpur Management
Association and Mr. Umar Deputy Director KMA Kanpur. Mr. M.
J. Parvez threw light on the plight of India Inc. highlighting the
initiatives to be taken from the government to boost the dream of
“Make in India”. Mr. K. M. Singh drew the map of the initiatives
taken by the government in light of the budget. Later Mr. Lalit
Khanna emphasized on the role of academician and Industry in
making “Make in India” a reality. Programme concluded with
vote of thank by Mr. Devendra Jaiswal, PGP Chair, GHS-IMR.

Farewell party "ADEUS", Organized by GHS-IMR
On 5th April 2015, traditional culture was brought alive at Dr. Gaur Hari Singhania Institute of
Management and Research in its 19th batch Farewell Party “ADEUS-2015”. The senior students
wearing traditional attires were welcomed at the gate by their juniors with Tilak Ceremony. Seniors
wrote their future wish list. A small PPT show was also played by Vedant Agnihotri. Praharsh Awasthi
and Mubassir welcomed the audience to ADEUS-2015. Director Dr. (Prof.) Rakesh Premi & Mrs.
Rashmi Premi lit the lamp. The program started with Ganesh Vandana by Deepali Pandey. This was
followed by a wonderful song performance by Shekher Singh. The audience got mesmerized by the
scintillating western group dance performance given by the Payal, Sahadab, Prateek, Sukriti, Abhay
Singh Rathore, Pallavi making ADEUS-2015 a great hit. Another major highlight was a splendid skit
of “Mere Sapno ka Raja”. A Classical group dance was also performed by the students. The program
continued with the cake cutting ceremony. All the seniors and juniors came on the dance floors
showing the feeling of togetherness and everyone equally enjoying their dances. Praharsh Awasthi
thanked Director, Faculty, Staff and seniors for such a wonderful gesture at ADEUS-2015. The
program concluded with sumptuous dinner consisting of mouth watering dishes.

On one hand, we were marching ahead setting new standards
in academics and student's employability but on the other
hand we found ourselves grief stricken when the legend, Dr.
Gaur Hari Singhania Ji who had landed his name to us and
enlightened our path and future, left us for the heavenly abode
on the February 4, 2015.Although void created can never be
filled but his sweet memories, values and sanskars in our
hearts will always guide us. May the divine soul rest in peace.
A brief detail of various activities in the past six months can be
seen in this news letter. Any feedback to further improve our
standard is most welcome.

- On 12th Nov 14, Director, GHS-IMR Dr. (Prof.) Rakesh Premi,
was felicitated for his Academic Excellence by the former Cabinet
HRD Minister Dr. Murali Manohar Joshi.

GHS-IMR campus in collaboration with GSVM Medical College,
HDFC Bank and Rotary Club North. Seventy Seven Bottle blood
was collected.
