BRIEF PROFILE

Green Field School (GFS), a learner-centric, integrated and inclusive School based in

“Dehradun”, popularly known as “Doon Valley”, famous

for its world class educational institutes. GFS was

established in the Summer of 1984 with a very clear

aims and objectives to offer learner-centric education

to future generation and equip them with innovative,

modern, technological, spiritual, cultural, physical and

value based education, which forms an important and

integral part of “students/learner’s’ day at GFS.

Thus, ensuring a healthy, creative, interactive, joyful, “I

WANT TO KNOW MORE” learning attitude and

experience for the child with minimum burden of school bags, homework and exams pressure

etc.

WHAT WE DO….

GFS offers excellent quality education which ventures by the

following guidelines and goals.

a. Focus on modern pedagogy to reduce dependence on

the traditional examination/evaluation system,

discouraging the rote-learning thus accelerating

overall development of the Child’s personality.

b. A sense of discipline, comradeship and services to

others with human face.

c. To inspire qualities of responsibility and leadership.

d. A love for the country, nature, culture and its heritage.

At GFS, emphasis is laid on cultivation of all three dimensions of

the “mind, body & spirit” and not on mere cramming for

examination purposes. Development of oral and written

expression requires individual attention, which is emphasized

upon. Children are enabled to develop self learning skills during

class room teaching rather than compelled to depend on private

tuitions.

KINDERGARTEN & PRIMARY SECTION:

A new approach has been successfully initiated at pre-

primary and primary section, including:

Pre-Primary: Alphabets and numbers are taught using

phonetics, songs in a compatible environment using

interactive multimedia techniques. Children are taken

on outings, which help them with a better

understanding and expression for life, think

independently and innovate fearlessly.

AFFILIATION / EDUCATION PATTERN

GFS has been following and adopting CBSE pattern using NCERT books and affiliated with

Uttarakhand Education Board as well as by National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), an

autonomous body under Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India as their AI (Accredited Institute) for

open and distance learning programs at secondary level.

roof as one

family, be it

“Dipawali, Id-u-zuha, Holi, Christmas or Guru Purb,

Republic , Independence, Children’s, Teacher’s Day

etc.

The learning is essentially important through such

participatory activities , which also teach values

and ethics of our great saints and leaders.

SOCIAL EDUCATIONAL CAMPAIGNS:

Being socially responsible and environmentally conscious education institute, GFS is partnering

with other like minded educational and civil

society organizations to sensitize students

about the growing civic problems related

with clean environment, unplanned

urbanization, global warning etc.

ICT 4E (ICT fro Education)

Understanding the power and reach of ICT

(Information & Communication Technology),

GFS is promoting Computer Based Learning

(CBL) for all educational and learning purposes and has “State of Art” ICT Center for the

development and delivery of the Educational e-Content.

Recently GFS under its NGO Partner “SFID (Society For Inclusive Development) launched e-

Classroom model with Chattisgarh based School.

Students from both schools will work jointly to design

and develop some education projects in the domain of

respective history, geography and culture etc. and

experience new ways of interactivity with their peers.

For continuous monitoring, the school has installed CCTV

in every class to improve the performance of its teaching

staff and to maintain punctuality & discipline in the

classrooms. GFS has also started SMS services to keep its parents updated about various

activities of their ward and events taking place in school through SMS alerts.

HAM SAATH SAATH- Education for Differently –Able Students

Gifted children are identified at GFS and all facilities given for the full flowering of their

potential. Special educators are deputed to give special attention to

children and mild or borderline disabilities. Infrastructure like

resource room with CDs, toys and literature for special need

children are provided within the school.

Appropriate measures are taken for children with disabilities like dyslexia (deficit in reading

skills), Dys-graphia (deficit in writing skills), dyscalculia (deficit in

mathematical skills), borderline MR (Mental Retardation), Autism,

Speech Problems etc. Teaching , support staff and Non-disabled

children become sensitive towards these students and do all possible

efforts to make them a part of our mainstream society.

Parents group of these “Students with Disability” is also formed for

close interaction and monitoring of our innovative teaching

methodology for these students.

HEALTH EDUCATION, PHYSICAL FITNESS & AWAREMESS

GFS believes that children have right to be happy and must lead a healthy life and thus

promotes awareness on basic health and hygiene related

issues by organizing regular health camps for young students

as well as for their parents.

Apart from our regular

academic activities, teaching,

sports and extra curricular activities, GFS always tries to

involve students in other activities like:-

GANDHI RESOURCE CENTRE (GFC)

At GFS, we understand the urgency of linking students with lifelong learning skills and to

inculcate strong value system, therefore we continuously working

hard towards the upliftment of mental, spiritual, emotional and

intellectual level of our learners.

In order to promote Philosophy and message

of Mahatma Gandhi among young generation,

GFS has established “Gandhi Resource Centre

(GRC)”, with support from “Chandu Memorial

Trust”, Mumbai.

VISITORS: GFS keeps on inviting resource persons from various sector to interact with

young students and enlighten them with their knowledge.

SCHOLAR-SHIP

Most of the students studying at GFS are migrants from remote hills and some of them belongs

to economic weaker section of the society and need financial support to carry forward their

studies.

Understanding the financial constraint of many parents, GFS initiated scholarships for bright

students in loving memory of its Founder Late Shri S.C. Gautam and supporting 20 scholars

every year with Scholarship. GFS also provides extra support to them in the form of books,

school uniform, counseling etc.

SWAMI VIVEKANAND BAL SANSKAR KENDRA:

Celebrating Swami Vivekanand’s 150th

Birth Anniversary, GFS with national NGO “SFID (Society

for Inclusive Development)” has initiated free evening classes for poor and under privileged

students as backend support, where stress is laid upon moral and value education, spoken

languages, social skill, mathematics, yoga and improving their

concentration through mediation classes.
