Composting and recycling have reduced trash by 40%!2009= 20 cubic yards (c.y.) of trash/week!2010= 16 c.y. trash/week; + recycling for plastic, metal, glass2011= 12 c.y. trash/week; + 2 c.y. compost2014= YOU are composting 80 cubic yards each year!

Compost from school goes to Martin’s Farm in Greenfield, a small family farm,

near the Green River. Plastic from your lunch can become litter!

Litter harms wildlife and the farm!

Step 1 - TRASH:in barrel with black bagBreakfast cereal bowls = TRASHStraws Plastic utensils + wrapper

Cups: plastic/ styrofoam Plastic bags/wrap

Step 2 - Recycle: Bottles Cans, aluminum foil

Juice boxes (throw away straws)

Yogurt containers(empty, throw away lids)

Step 3 – Milk/juice carton:

Empty milk/juice into pail.Throw away straws.

Put carton in compost.

Last Step – DUMP food and paper into COMPOST:

Milk/juice carton

Leftover food

Napkin, “boat,” other paper
