Specific objectives

To create a platform for entrepreneurs in Cameroon to share ideas and create networks.

To develop business models adapted to the Cameroon business ecosystem.

To give the opportunity to startups to network with potential investors in the B2B session to get micro financing to develop a prototype of their various ventures and to compete with the very best around the world in various international startup competitions organized every year.

To bring together experts in business development, policy makers, politicians, civil society organizations and other stake holders to brainstorm and come up with policy papers.

To motivate and train 400 young entrepreneurs on new methods and revolutionary ideas on entrepreneurship.

During one week every November, thousands of events and competitions around the world, organized by multiple organizations inspire millions to engage in entrepreneurial activity while connecting them to potential collaborators, mentors and even investors. GEW has expanded to 160 countries, building and strengthening entrepreneurial ecosystems around the world. This year's GEW has been scheduled for the 14-20 of November 2016.The GEW is aimed at inspiring young people through activities across national and international borders. These activities vary and include; competitions, exhibitions, networking activities, workshops, conferences and others that engage all sorts of business stakeholders and potential entrepreneurs. It is supported by big and small business alike, governments, policy makers, CSOs and other non-state actors. What about Cameroon?

The GEW event in Cameroon will be organized by "Calabash of Africa Network" from the 17-18 November 2016 in Yaoundé, under the patronage of the Cameroon Chamber of commerce. The need for the development of the private sector in Cameroon cannot be overstated and even the government has been drumming for an improved business climate which showed in the recently organized international investment conference in Yaoundé.

Project Goals

To help empower Cameroonian youths by reducing dependencies and increasing self-reliance.

Expose the benefits of entrepreneurship to individuals and the

nation through different activities.

The crowd funding model is a modern approach

to raise money for entrepreneurs through a

multitude of individuals and companies usually

done online. We are putting in place a crowd

funding mobile application and a web platform

called « Petit cash bank » which will be launched

and demonstrated during the event.

This year, GEW Cameroon would develop video

profiles for startups which will be used for

audiovisual presentations during and after the

program. It gives the opportunity for startups to

sell their products or services to a wider

audience thanks to the internet platform.

Crowdfunding Model BENCHMARKING

Benchmarking is the exchange program which will

be carried out live through web portals with other

GEW participants worldwide. This program would

solidify the networking process we are progressively

developing with entrepreneurs worldwide.

Startup Cup is a global business model competition

organized in more than 60 countries. This

competition will effectively be launched in

Cameroon this year under the affiliation ”Yaoundé

Startup Cup ».It will give the opportunity to the

best business models to compete in the « Africa

startup Cup » and « World startup Cup ».
