Getting Started You want to get started as quickly as possible, right? Your new Connect Tablet is really simple to

use so you probably won’t even need to check the manual. Just in case you need a few pointers,

we’ve put them together for you in one place.

Precautions before Use

1. Please take care not to drop your Connect Tablet and to protect it against sudden

impacts.

2. You should avoid using your Connect Tablet in any environment where the air is

excessively cold, excessively hot (<35 degrees), too humid or too dusty. Avoid prolonged

exposure to direct sunlight.

3. Take care not to use your Connect Tablet in areas with strong magnetic fields or around a

build-up of static electricity.

4. Do not splash or immerse your Connect Tablet with liquid. If your Connect Tablet

becomes wet shut it down immediately and do not use it.

5. If you need to clean your Connect Tablet you should use a clean, lint-free soft cloth. Do

not use and liquids or cleaning agents.

6. Your Connect Tablet is suitable for use in non-tropical areas below 2,000 metres.

7. No warranty is offered or implied in respect of your data in the event of damage or a

fault relating to the use of your Connect Tablet. We recommend you keep a duplicate

back-up copy of any important data on your Connect Tablet.

8. Your Connect Tablet contains no user-serviceable parts. Please do not attempt to open

the case of your Connect Tablet as doing so could be dangerous and will invalidate your

warranty

9. Your Connect Tablet supports a wide variety of third-party peripherals including mobile

data dongles but you should check compatibility and service provision to make sure they

suit your requirements.

10. The battery in your Connect Tablet is not user-replaceable. Please do not attempt to

use any power source apart from the original charger supplied with your Connect Tablet.

Finding your way around

1. Volume Control: Press + to increase the volume or – to reduce the volume

2. Loudspeaker: The built-in loudspeaker enables you to hear the sound without an external

speaker.

3. Front camera: take care not to cover the camera lens while taking pictures.

4. Front camera indicator: the camera indicator will be on when camera is in use

5. Home Button you can press this key to return to the Windows Start screen

6. External keyboard optional – not supplied with this model

7. Rear Camera: take care not to cover the camera lens while taking pictures.

8. Blanking slot – not used

9. Charging indicator – This becomes brighter when charging

10. Power button: Press the power button once to turn your Connect Tablet on or off. The

Power Button can also be used to wake your Connect Tablet from sleep mode.

11. Headphone Socket: for connecting headphones or an external speaker.

12. Mini HDMI Interface: for connection to an external display using a mini HDMI cable (not

supplied)

13. Micro SD card slot: the built-in storage card reader slot supports memory cards using

MicroSD and MicroSDHC format (cards supplied separately).

14. Micro USB Port: External peripherals can be connected via mini USB.

15. USB port: Connect your USB flash drive or mouse.

16. Power socket: DC power socket to plug in and charge your tablet.

17. Microphone: your Connect Tablet has a built-in microphone. Please take care not to

cover it while recording audio.

Introduction to Desktop When you turn on your Connect Tablet for the first time you will be asked for some basic details

to get you started. This will make it easier to make the most of your Apps later on.

Once you have completed the introduction, you’ll see the Windows 10 Start Screen (shown

below). The Start Screen is made up of Tiles for all your software, including pre-installed Apps

for email and news, as well as your pictures and music library. When you install more Apps, you

can add tiles to the Start Screen so you can open them easily.

Please note that some Microsoft Apps may require you to create a Microsoft Live ID (formerly

SkyDrive) account. Other services or Apps may need their own user credentials.

Navigating the Start Screen

Swipe to the right Swipe to the left

Swipe to the right from the left-hand side of the

screen to scroll through your open applications.

Swipe to the left from the right-hand side of the

screen to open the Action Centre. You can also

access the Settings menu of your tablet.

Swipe downward Swipe with your finger

Swipe down from the top of the screen to close

an open application.

On the Start Screen, slide your finger up and

down or left to right to scroll through the App

Tiles.

Introduction to App Screen

Besides the applications already fixed on the App Screen, you can customize the screen by adding

Tiles for other applications installed on your Tablet.

To add more applications to the Start Screen, see the steps in the figure below,

(1) Click the properties icon

(2) Press and hold the App you wish to add

(3) Select Pin to start from the sub menu which appears

If you want to move Tiles, change tile size or delete a certain application in the start screen,

(1) Press and hold the App Tile for about one second and then let it go

(2) Select Unpin to delete or select the Resize option to change tile size.

Start menu settings

Your Connect tablet should be in “Windows 10 Tablet mode” already. This makes it easier to

use with your finger. You can check this by swiping in from the right hand side and see if Tablet

Mode is selected (see below). If not, press this now. If you press the 3 small lines in the top left

hand corner, you will access the Start menu with access to further applications, settings and

Multitasking screen Swipe in from the left-hand side of the screen or click the button (highlighted) and you will see

the running applications. You can tap an application to jump to it or close an application by

pressing the X above its screen preview.

Basic Operations

From the Start menu, click Power to select the 3 power states available - Sleep, Restart and Shut

down.

You can also press the Power Button (p4) once to put your Connect Tablet into sleep

mode. Press and hold the Power Button to shut your Connect Tablet down.
