Ultimately, I sell real estate because I want to help people make the right decision for themselves and their families.” Although a majority of the real estate transactions Doug facilitates have been single-family home sales, he also handles REOs, probate, short sales, divorce sales, income properties, commercial sales and leases. SC Times: How long have you been in San Clemente? “I was born and raised in San Clemente. As a lifetime San Clemente resident, I was lucky enough to not only start my real estate career here, but work alongside my parents. They owned San Clemente Real Estate, which served the local area for more than 21 years. After helping them sell their business, I built my own business around their principles of honest and dependable service.” SC Times: I see that your wife, Tracy, is part of the business. Is there anyone else in your family that is on your team? “Tracy adds an important component to the success of this business. She is a 16-year escrow veteran and managed one of the top escrow offices in Orange County. With her understanding of the inner workings of real estate, title, marketing and office management, she has developed the systems behind our successful growth. My daughter Carissa has also joined our team, and is working on earning her real estate license as well.” With Doug and Tracy, family always comes first. Keliana works on a yacht in Italy; Carissa works with Doug and Tracy at Surterre Properties; Evan is a senior at San Clemente High School; and Ashley is a junior. SC Times: You are a generous sponsor to many organizations in the community. What organizations do you support, and why is community involvement important to you? “I have always been committed to giving back to my community. I grew up here, and I went to school here, so giving back to the local schools is very important to me. Every year, I sponsor the San Clemente Educational Foundation, and all the sports teams at the high school. We are also involved at the Bernice Ayer Middle School. And, I am especially proud to be a founding member of the MAKO Educational Foundation, where I served for six years as treasurer. Honestly, I have always enjoyed supporting youth activities, and my work with organizations like MAKO make it possible for school-aged children to experience more learning opportunities, with more resources and more funding. My entire team loves San Clemente, and loves living and working in this beautiful hometown. The fact that every one of my team members is either a long-time local resident or San Clemente High School graduate is a testament to that.
