Cause > Effect

Why would anyone live at effect?

Effect gives a payoff. Anytime you’re doing something to feel good, you have two ways to go about it.

– 1. Feeling good instantly through gratification,

– 2. Or over time, slowly, through fulfillment.

Gratification comes from living at Effect

Fulfillment comes from Living at Cause

The size of our BUT!

1. Excuses

2. Fears

3. Insecurities

You believe that there is nothing you can do and that’s just the way life is.

What’s Your Excuse?

You make BUT excuses so you don’t have to do the hard work. We all do this at times, the question is…

How often do you do this and what’s it costing you?

Page 9: Get off your but

How do you know when you’re making them?

Any time you use the phrase or think the thought “BUT I don’t have the…”

• BUT I don’t have the time…

• BUT I don’t have the energy…

• BUT I don’t have the resources…

What are they doing to you?

• They sound rational but we tell ourselves rational lies so that we can get out of the heavy lifting.

• Meanwhile, we grow weaker and weaker and our life begins to atrophy until eventually the best opportunities, the things we always want

“What would your life look like if you diverted your energy from worry to action?”

Be Very, Very Afraid

• Those things that paralyze us and weigh us down with negativity.

• We make our BUT fears so we don’t have to look bad, so we don’t have to risk rejection, failure, and upset, so we can stay safe at effect.

• How often do you find yourself saying “BUT what if…?” Try and count the number of instances where you fantasized “What if’s” that never came true.

Avoiding the Insecurity Trap

What is a BUT insecurity? Anytime you say “BUT I’m not…”

• BUT I’m not smart enough.

• BUT I’m not tall enough.

• BUT I’m not rich enough.

Insecurities are like viruses — they get inside of you and they eat you up from the inside out.

“There’s no magic pill that makes our insecurities go away. We must

choose: Cower to them OR Face them & prevail. Choose!”

Page 17: Get off your but

In order to get off our BUT, we need to:

Let go of the addiction to comfort (our excuses), safety (fear), and let go of our fear of rejection which would help us eliminate our insecurities.

If you want a better life, you don’t need to be more disciplined, you need better rituals.
