GEOTAGGING
- is the process of adding
geographical information to
various media in the form of
metadata. The metadata usually
consists of coordinates like
latitude and longitude, but may
even include bearing, altitude,
distance and place names.
![Page 4: Geotagging Manual](https://reader033.fdocuments.net/reader033/viewer/2022042423/55cf9d78550346d033adc28c/html5/thumbnails/4.jpg)

CONVENIENT FOR THE PUBLIC
– geotagging photos can be done with a GPS-
ready camera, GPS with camera or simply with a low-
end smart phone with GPS chipset improved by
applications that are free and available in the internet.

USER FRIENDLY
– geotagging is user friendly as it requires only a
basic knowledge in setting up geotagging devices to
enable users to apply the technology.
![Page 7: Geotagging Manual](https://reader033.fdocuments.net/reader033/viewer/2022042423/55cf9d78550346d033adc28c/html5/thumbnails/7.jpg)
ACCESSIBLE TO EVERYONE
– with the help of web base applications like
Picasa web, Panoramio, Dropbox and Google drive,
you can share your geotagged photos and links with
friends, or make it public for everyone to see.
![Page 8: Geotagging Manual](https://reader033.fdocuments.net/reader033/viewer/2022042423/55cf9d78550346d033adc28c/html5/thumbnails/8.jpg)
ACCURATE AND RELIABLE
– being a Global Positioning System (GPS)
technology, Geotaggging uses space-based satellite
navigation system that provides location and time
information in all weather conditions, anywhere on or
near the Earth where there is an unobstructed line of
sight to four or more GPS satellites

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
FROM THE PRESIDENTNo less than President Aquino has acknowledged geotagging
technology as an efficient and effective monitoring tool.
During a gathering of Peoples’ Organizations (POs) of another
government project in Mindanao on May 14, 2012, President
Aquino informed PO members that geotagging validates the
existence of government projects, leaving no room for “hocus
pocus” projects.
![Page 11: Geotagging Manual](https://reader033.fdocuments.net/reader033/viewer/2022042423/55cf9d78550346d033adc28c/html5/thumbnails/11.jpg)

![Page 12: Geotagging Manual](https://reader033.fdocuments.net/reader033/viewer/2022042423/55cf9d78550346d033adc28c/html5/thumbnails/12.jpg)
• Further promotes transparency and
total public disclosure– One reason why NGP has
adopted the geotagging technology is it’s
capability to show the public the status of the
program through virtual visitation. By using
geographical information programs like
Google Earth, the public can virtually visit any
NGP site in the country and monitor the
progress in their own computers anytime of
the day.
GEOTAGGING FOR NGP
![Page 13: Geotagging Manual](https://reader033.fdocuments.net/reader033/viewer/2022042423/55cf9d78550346d033adc28c/html5/thumbnails/13.jpg)
GEOTAGGING FOR NGP• Facilitates validation and evaluation of NGP
planting sites
Geotagging is not only for validation of NGP
planting sites as to existence and location but also
aids in the evaluation of their condition.
Geotagging complements the use of GIS
maps. By overlaying geotagged photos to GIS maps, one is
provided visuals of how these sites really look like within the
confines of mapped-out areas.
