Description: You are to create a tessellation and find where tessellations are used in the "real world". Your final project will include:
• At least 3 different real world applications of tessellations mounted on paper to be included with your project. Find pictures in books, magazines, newspapers, internet (only one source here) or simply take a picture.• A worksheet with two practice tessellations.• The actual, full size tessellation on 8.5" x 11" piece of nonlined paper.• An attached piece of paper on which you will draw a diagram of the transformation that your tessellation used. Use arrows to show how the shapes reflect, translate, or rotate. • A cardboard/cardstock template of your polygon(s) and its modifications.
You may do one of these 3 options(Use color in any tessellation that you create):1. A combination of at least two simple polygons. 2. A modified shape tessellation. 3. A modified shape tessellation with detailed ESCHERlike decoration.
You will receive the most credit for option 3(possible 100% or more!), and less for 2(possible 90%) and the least for 1(possible 85%).
This project is due on Monday, March 20 and will be your first test grade of the 3rd trimester. You will have no other homework in geometry tonight or over the weekend. Today is likely the only class time that you will be afforded so use it wisely
