    1. Check that the kit includes all the parts listed on the first page. 2. Check each part in the kit for scratches or any form of damage. 3. Park the vehicle on level ground. 4. Remove the ignition key from the switch and store it in a safe place. 5. Protect any items removed or to be installed from scratches by plac-

    ing them on a soft cloth first before putting them on the ground. 6. Use care not to cause any damage to the body of the vehicle during

    installation of the accessory.

    Tighten bolts to the torque indi- cated in the right table as standard value unless otherwise explicitly specified. The value shows conventional or “4” marked bolt tightening torque. For other bolts not listed in the table, refer to the service manual.

    1. Remove the screws 1 and the plate 2.

    2. Insert the key and turn it until the keyhole 1 is aligned with the protrusion 2 as shown.

    3. Apply a thread lock cement to the TORX® screws 1 and install the lock plate 2 by tight- ening the screws.

    4. Insert the key cylinder into the hole 1 of the top case.

    1. Insert the key 1 into the lock of the top case and turn it counter- clockwise 90 degrees.

    2. Lift up the lock lever 1 and open the top case lid.

    3. Affix the appropriate language label over the originally affixed label 1.

    4. Secure the end of the belt 1 at the lower side of the case.

    5. Close the top case lid. 6. Insert the holders 1 on the

    front side of the top case into the top case plate.

    7. Lift up the top case handle 1 and install the top case onto the top case plate.

    8. Fold the handle down and check that the lock lever 1 fits into the top case plate 2.

    9. With the handle and lock lever folded down completely, lock the case by turning the key.

    WARNING Make sure that the top case is surely installed. Otherwise, the case could come off while riding, resulting in an acci- dent.

    Close the top case by reversing the opening procedure.

    • The case is not completely waterproof. Always store lug- gage in a plastic bag or the like.

    • Make sure the handle, lock lever and case are securely locked before riding.

    • The inside of the case can become very hot. Do not store valuables, electronic devices, foods or drinks, etc. in the case.

    Handling Precautions

    WARNING • If the case is not installed

    correctly, or it is not locked in place, it may come off. Therefore, make sure that it is properly installed and locked before riding.

    • A mounted case is highly susceptible to crosswinds. Always be careful when rid- ing in strong winds.

    • When the top case is mounted, always ride care- fully as it affects the stability and maneuverability of the motorcycle.

    • Maximum loading capacity: 5 kg (11 lbs)

    • Maximum motorcycle speed when case is mounted: 130 km/h (81 mph)

    • Reduce luggage weight if the combined weight of lug- gage and case exceeds the maximum loading weight limit of the carrier or motor- cycle. Maximum top case loading capacity is 5 kg (11 lbs).
