Monthly Ministries TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH April 29-30, 2017 May Ministries Join us for a brunch with meat and vegetarian options. Let’s fellowship together with our families! For our entertainment, we will enjoy a special performance by actors Kate Brauneis and Tiffany Groben who will perform from Robin Hood. Tickets are $8 for adults, $4 for kids 6-12, and free for kids 5 and under. See Judy Weidler or Stephanie Kistler to buy tickets. This spring, Health Ministries is offering two opportunities for you and the community: Gentle Yoga with Chair Assist, Monday and Wednesday mornings, and Tai Chi, Monday and Thursday evenings. Start date for both is May 22nd, with no classes on Memorial Day. Gentle Yoga with Chair Assist classes will begin on Monday, May 22nd at 10 am in the Fellowship Hall. Tomme Fent will once again be our instructor. Classes will be on Mondays and Wednesdays for four weeks, and will cost $40. Please sign up on the bulletin board in the office hallway; the minimum class size is 10. Participants will use a standard yoga mat and a chair. The hardest part of transitioning from Chair Yoga to Gentle Yoga is getting up and down off of the floor. We will use the chair to help with that transition. Each student must have a standard yoga mat, and Heath Ministries will provide that for you! Other optional recommended items are: a blanket (Mexican-style blankets work well), 6-foot yoga strap, and two 4" yoga blocks (either cork or foam will work, as long as they're 4"). A good source for yoga supplies is sunshineyoga.com. Tai Chi. Our instructor is Natalie Cauley. She was an instructor at Epidavros with Tomme, but is leaving the area to pursue graduate work. These classes will also begin on May 22 at 7 pm in the Fellowship Hall. Classes are on Monday and Thursday evenings and also cost $40 for the eight sessions. The minimum class size is 10 as well. Natalie says “Tai Chi is a great all-ages and abilities exercise that leads to both greater relaxation and improved strength and balance, helping prevent falls (the leading cause of injury in older adults). My goal as a teacher is for students to ultimately be able to practice it at home, without an instructor.” Please sign up ASAP so we will know if the classes are a go. Invite a friend or two. All are welcome! Spring Family Brunch Saturday, May 20 11 am to 1 pm Gentle Yoga & Tai Chi Classes

Home Health Care vs In-home Care There are many people who don’t know the difference between home health and in-home care. In reality, there

are many differences. Home health is specifically designed to assist patients that are ill with a chronic condition like

heart failure, recovery from a surgery, or another acute health condition. Home health allows patients to discharge ear-

lier from the hospital, assists with faster recovery, and reduces hospital admissions. Home health consists of physi-

cians, nurses, home health aides, certified nursing assistants, physical, speech and occupational therapists. They pro-

vide a variety of services from catheter care, injections, IV transfusions, tracheotomy care, post-op rehab, diabetes

management, etc. Home health visits are typically scheduled a few times a week with different disciplines of the

home health team. Home health is billed to Medicare or other insurance.

In-home care is a form of care that allows people to age in place at home by offering a variety of services in-

cluding homemaker and custodial services, companionship, transportation to appointments, bathing and grooming and

in some cases (if the in-home care agency is licensed at the comprehensive level) provide medication management

under the delegation of a RN. In-home care agencies typically employ registered nurses, licensed practical nurses,

caregivers and care managers.

This type of service helps prevent negative outcomes for people by reducing the likelihood of falls, and malnu-

trition, and may enable them to stay in their home versus moving to a higher level of care. In-home care visits are one

-to-one care that can fulfill up to 24 hours of service per day depending on client needs/requests. In home care is al-

most always private pay, however, for qualified individuals they may be able to bill to insurance.

Home health care and in-home care can work with a patient/client as separate entities or together in a collabo-

ration that meets each patient’s individual needs. Even though they provide different services they serve the same goal

of meeting you where you are, at home. Article Provided by:
