No Time? No Problem! Chamber Membership works 24 /7...with or without you!

Chamber Bucks The Chamber Bucks gift certificate program allows the recipient to use Chamber Bucks instead of cash at more than 80 participating Chamber businesses. The business is then reimbursed the face value of the certificate less a 50-cent handling fee. Nearly $70,000 worth of Chamber Bucks were sold in 2015, driving customers to your business.

Instant Credibility According to a research study by The Shapiro Group, Inc. and Market Street Services, when consumers know that a small business is a member of their local chamber of commerce, they are 44% more likely to think favorably of it and 63%more likely to purchase goods or services from the company in the future. Chamber members post with pride their “Member” clings on their entrances.

Legislative Advocacy The Chamber is the voice of the business community, opposing legislation that restricts your authority as a business owner or increases your cost of doing business. In 2016, the Chamber lobbied elected officials to oppose any minimum wage increase and to oppose a graduated/progressive income tax.

Membership Directory Produced by the Quincy Herald-Whig, our 80-page Membership Directory contains alphabetical and categorical listings of all members. The publication is distributed to Chamber members, potential members and residents.

Phone Referrals The Quincy Area Chamber of Commerce receives numerous phone calls daily inquiring about companies that provide specific services. The Chamber refers members first. The more we know about your business, the better we can refer you!

www.quincychamber.org The Chamber serves as the front door to our community. Chamber members are listed on our site with links to their company website and social networks, and members can update information at any time.

Chamber Newsletter Advertising The Quincy Area Chamber of Commerce sends two weekly e-newsletters to more than 1,400 businesspersons. Each Chamber member is offered one complimentary ad each year; additional advertisements are as low as $25. Members are also encouraged to submit an announcement for our Member News section.

Insurance Discount Auto Owners Insurance, offered through several Chamber insurance agencies, offers a significant discount on your general business insurance and auto insurance for your company fleet.

Loaned Equipment The Chamber loans its PA system, LCD projector, overhead projector, and screen to members on a first-come, first-serve basis. There is no need to invest in costly equipment for your infrequent presentations.

Postage Privilege The Quincy Area Chamber of Commerce has a standard-class postage permit that can be used by members to save approximately 50 percent on the cost of postage for bulk mailings of more than 200 pieces. This permit alone would cost individual businesses nearly $200 per year.

Ribbon Cuttings If your company is new, has had a significant expansion, or has moved to a new location, we would love to celebrate with you! We bring the ribbon, scissors, and our Ambassadors to your business for a quick ceremony where you get to tell us about your business, and then we snap photos for our Facebook page and the Herald-Whig. To schedule your ribbon cutting, call our office at (217) 222-7980.

More Time than Money? Promote your business through these free/low-cost programs

Business Before/After Hours Events The Quincy Area Chamber of Commerce schedules two networking events each month at various business locations. Events are free and are held from 4:30-6 p.m. on the second Thursday of the month and 7-8:30 a.m. on the fourth Thursday of the month. Guests are welcome. Attended by 60-100 people, these social events promote relationships with prospective clients.

Chamber Sales & Marketing Group Every career, from media to banking to manufacturing, requires some type of sales and marketing skills. Therefore, the Chamber Sales & Marketing Group gives professionals additional tools to help them build their business. The group meets once a month for lunch and a presentation.

Ambassador Club Serving as a Chamber Ambassador is good for your business. You will meet prospective clients, hone your networking and leadership skills and develop a thorough knowledge of Chamber programming. Ambassadors are invited to help with nearly 100 events annually; duties include welcoming new businesses with ribbon cuttings, welcoming tourists, and serving as volunteers for community festivals.

Educational Programs Free brown-bag seminars conducted by local experts and webinars offered by outside speakers are offered almost monthly. In addition, the Chamber brings in national experts for in-depth training on a variety of topics. In 2016, we held workshops on Microsoft Word, Publisher, and Quickbooks.

Golf Tournaments We’ve all heard about the great business deals made on the golf course. Chamber Golf Tournaments are great for relaxing with clients and co-workers. The ladies golf outing is a 9-hole tournament held in June, and the Mercantile Fall Classic for the Chamber, a mixed 18-hole tournament, is held in September. Not a golfer? Promote your business by sponsoring a hole or contributing a promotional item for our goodie bags.

Lobby Days/Meetings with Legislators Business owners cannot ignore the impact that legislation has on their business. The Chamber regularly leads discussions with elected officials and encourages Chamber members to participate. In 2016, Chamber members traveled to Springfield, IL, and hosted Gubernatorial Candidates in Quincy.

Women’s Networking Group This is networking at its best! More than 80 women attend this monthly meeting to learn more about each others’ businesses and to improve their leadership skills. This includes a $15 Dutch-treat lunch.
