Welcoming

Call to Worship Matt Rollins

The rush and roar of the world are with us, stealing our attention.

We run here and there, anxiety creeping into our lives.

In this holy place, let us breathe in the Spirit, releasing our tensions and quieting our minds.

We will be still and know God’s presence. We open ourselves. Come, Holy Spirit, be present in our lives and in our worship.

Prelude arr. Shelton Ridge Love “I Sing the Mighty Power of God”

*Processional Hymn 52 LAUDES DOMINI “When Morning Gilds the Skies”

Baptizing

Prayer for Baptism

O God, we gather at the water’s edge, remembering that through the water of the sea you led your people Israel out of bondage into the land of your promise. We remember that Jesus your Son was baptized in the waters of the Jordan and was anointed as the Christ by your Holy Spirit.

We rejoice that you also claim us in our baptism, and by your grace we are born again.

Let us listen once again for the voice from heaven naming us the beloved children of God, connecting us to all who have felt the waters of baptism soaking them in grace.

Drench us in the living water of your love. Immerse us in the depths of life in your Spirit. Raise us to walk in new life with you. Amen.

Ordinance of Baptism

Baptismal Promise

I am now in a relationship with God – God who loves me even when I cannot love myself. I recognize that on my own I could never reach the height of God’s plan for my life; I need God’s mercy and grace. Having experienced Christian baptism to symbolize the death of the hold sin had over my life, I am raised to new life as a follower of The Way, professing that Jesus is Lord. I promise to live in response to God, growing into the calling I have received and sharing the love, mercy and grace that God has shown me. I am part of a community in Christ, a community that embodies a love for Jesus through loving one another – everyone is loved and sacred in the eyes of God. How glorious to accept and share this love!

Musical Response “The Music of Living” Dan Forrest

Giver of life, Creator of all that is lovely, Teach me to sing the words to your song.

I want to feel the music of living; And not fear the sad songs

But from them make new songs Composed of both laughter and tears.Giver of life, Creator of all that is lovely,

Teach me to dance to the sounds of your world.I want to move in rhythm with your plan.

Help me to follow your leading,To risk even falling, rise and keep trying,

For you are leading the dance.Giver of life, Creator of all that is lovely,

Teach me to sing the words to your song.
