General Port and Harbour Engineering Site Investigations

The assessment of local site conditions and the collection of accurate and appropriate data is a key aspect in port design and construction works. The availability of relevant site data allows for the proper consideration of the design requirements for port structure, and subsequently for the safe and efficient execution of the

construction works. BMT JFA considers and assesses many factors with the potential to influence project requirements, including items such as land tenure, the location of pre-existing services, site access requirements, multi-user requirements and potential presence and implications of existing site contamination (i.e. environmental, unexploded ordnance, etc). Typically, BMT JFA provides overall project management services to the client, with the provision of specialist services undertaken by suitably qualified contractors (e.g. drillers, metocean data collection specialists) operating under BMT JFA’s overall direction.

Services Offered Investigation into site conditions and review of existing data to identify key site characteristics for incorporation into the design process Assessment of user/proponent requirements for viability. This process includes the assessment of site access availability and requirements, user requirements (including third parties) and land tenure considerations Assessment and management of HSE risks associated with the presence of contaminated or hazardous materials, including unexploded ordnance Determination of data collection requirements including locations, types, duration of instrument deployments and data quality standards Management of the data collection and analysis process including the determination of the project execution methodology, tender preparation and evaluation, and on site project management and reporting Data analysis to determine design criteria and other critical information for incorporation in the design process.
