Meeting information Welcome to the 41st meeting of the European Teratology Society. In this section you will find the non-science details for the event: registration details and the social program. Meeting venue Villa Francesca Hotel la Palma Corso Umberto I 33 28838 Stresa, Italy The conference centre ‘Villa Francesca’ is located right behind the hotel. Language The official language of the meeting will be English. No simultaneous translation will be provided. Safety and Security • In case of emergency please follow directions from the meeting staff and chairpersons • Please, wear your name badge while in the meeting area (access will be denied otherwise) • Remove your name badge when leaving the meeting area Registration Desk Please collect your name badge and conference material from the meeting Registration desk. The desk will be located in the ground floor of the Villa Francesca (conference centre of the Hotel la Palma). Opening hours: Sunday, 8th Sept.: 11.00 am – 05.00 pm (Education course) Monday, 9th Sept. 08.00 am – 06.00 pm Tuesday, 10th Sept. 08.00 am – 05.00 pm Wednesday, 11th Sept. 08.30 am – 11.30 am Meeting closes Wednesday 12.30pm Name badges Your name badge is your admission to the scientific sessions and to the coffee breaks and lunches. It should be worn at all times at the conference venue. In addition there will be an opportunity to discuss posters with the authors at a poster session to be held 17.00 – 19.00 h on Monday. The poster boards are sponsored by CIT Refreshments are sponsored by local wine producer Tenuta Sant’Agata Speaker Information Video beamer and PC are available for presentations. Please turn in your presentations at the front desk before your session. Please use CD-ROM, USB stick or comparable format. The use of your own PC is not desired. Gastronomy Coffee, tea, soft drinks and snacks are served during the coffee breaks for the main meeting and a light lunch is provided during the lunch breaks on: Monday, 9th September Tuesday, 10th September For people attending the Education course on Sunday, coffee tea, soft drinks and snacks will be provided during the course. For all meals and snacks, vegetarian options will be offered. Exhibition Area As in previous years, an exhibition featuring Pharmaceutical and Product Companies, Technical Equipment Companies and Medical Publishers will be held within the same setting as the conference. The entrance is free to those registered to the Conference and registered accompanying persons. The exhibition will open on Monday, 9th September, at 10.00 h and will then follow the same schedule as the conference. The industry exhibition provides information about the newest technologies and developments available within our scientific area. The exhibiting companies have a unique possibility to efficiently reach their target customer. The ETS highly values the support from these exhibitors and believes that the on-site discussion and exchange of experience between exhibitors and the meeting participants is of invaluable importance and benefit. Education CourseSponsored by Charles River Laboratories Preclinical Services, USA, the Education Course this year is entitled “Testing Strategies for BioPharmaceuticals”. The Course will be appropriate for both experienced DART scientists as well as interested researchers and will provide an introduction to this fi eld and examples of vaccine testing and the consideration of non-human primates. We hope that you will fi nd the Course informative, interesting and enjoyable.If you have suggestions about topics for future Educations courses at ETS meetings, please let us know.

ETS/Elsevier PrizesIn addition to the ETS Presidents Award Lecture which is given by a long-standing and well respected member of the Society and the Elsevier Reproductive Toxicology Publication Award Lecture, which is awarded to the best publication in the Journal of Reproductive Toxicology in 2013, there are four more prizes available to meeting participants: the ETS Prize, two Elsevier Prizes and the Teddy Edward’s Memorial Prize for Research into Congenital Malformations, awarded to the poster or free communication which best exemplifi es the aims of the Society.

Young scientistsYoung scientists from industry, university or other fi elds are welcome to these events; membership of the society is not a requirement to join. You will have some fun, some drinks and/or food, you will build up your network and you will be able to discuss with other young scientists subjects of common interest.Two special events have been organised for you as part of this years meeting. Please join in – no need to sign up in advance.

Young Scientists reception “Happy Hour”18.00 – 19.00 h, Sunday 8th September 2013, on the roof top of the Hotel la Palma with a beautiful view over the City and the Lake Maggiore. This is an informal get together to meet new and old friends and to promote networking opportunities. Come and join us for a free drink and learn more about some of the other young people at the meeting and some of the folks behind the ETS. The Young Scientist’s reception is kindly supported by Takeda.

Legends Lunch13.00 – 14.00 h, Monday 9th September, 2013Come and chat with some of the established ETS members while you have lunch: you can talk with them about their careers, how the ETS supported them and anything else you can think of about careers etc. As always, feel free to put up a notice and initiate your own discussion group!

Social EventsWelcome reception19.00 h Sunday 8th September, 2013Welcome reception on the roof top of the Hotel la Palma with a beautiful view over the City and the Lake Maggiore. Light refreshments will be provided, but this is a great place to catch up with friends and colleagues before heading out for dinner together.This will be preceded by: Young Scientists “Happy Hour”.

ETS Conference dinner19.30 h Tuesday 10th September, 2013We would like to invite you to join us at the conference dinner on Tuesday evening. We will have a Barbecue which will take place in the garden of the “Regina Palace Hotel”, located in the same street as the conference venue, in walking distance. Dress, casual.
