W H O W E A R EBoard of Child Care (BCC) is a private

nonprofit organization. We provide

youth and their families with education,

mental health, and residential services

across the Mid-Atlantic. Guided by our

core values of Safety, Relationships, Empathy, and Impact,

we see the whole child, not the behavior.

Evidence-based practicesEvidence-based practices provide a strong foundation for refining and developing new programs. Monitoring and analyzing therapeutic outcomes offer insight as to which treatments are working.

To support the delivery of trauma-informed care across all of our programs, BCC utilizes The National Child Traumatic Stress Network model.

AccreditationsThrough ongoing self-studies and evaluations by outside reviewers and national accrediting bodies, BCC is committed to providing the best possible care for children and families.

SERVICES KEY

Community-Based ProgramsFrom adoption support to family therapy, our community-based programs enrich the lives of families in the Mid-Atlantic region. BCC offers direct services to families and training for community partners equipping them to respond empathetically to the mental health needs of youth.

EducationBCC can provide either an in-house or community-based education placement depending on the program and needs of the youth being served. Our whole child methodology integrates academic, behavioral, clinical, and vocational goals into each student’s education plan.

BCC operates a stand alone school (The Strawbridge School) and partners with public school systems. All educational programs are approved by the relevant Maryland, Pennsylvania or West Virginia State Departments of Education.

P R O G R A M S

Mental HealthLicensed clinical therapists and child psychiatrists provide mental health services throughout BCC’s program services.

Residential ServicesBCC’s residential programs are designed for children and youth who require short-term and long-term care. Movement within BCC’s continuum is fluid and flexible in both duration and design.

Whether a young person is ready for semi-independent living and a community-based placement or needs more of a campus-style arrangement, BCC’s flexible offerings can meet a variety of treatment and supervision needs. Residential services are located throughout Maryland, Martinsburg, West Virginia, and Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania.

Treatment Foster Care & Respite CareBCC trains and certifies foster parents who provide care for youth in their home on a full-time basis. As a support for full-time foster parents, BCC also certifies respite care providers who provide short-term care of youth on an as needed basis.
