Riverbend 2008Brought to you by:

Jake Shimabukuro – Nightfall fans will never forget this master of the ukulele’s command performance two years ago. This Hawaiian hero single-handedly transforms an instrument that is often the butt of musical jokes into a conduit for the voice of angels. Smokey Lonesome – These country rockers from the Birmingham-Nashville cor-ridor are picking up the torch of southern rock where the Skynyrds, Hatchets, and Outlaws laid it down. They blew the New Year’s Crowd away on the South Side, and they’ll do the same on the Bud Light Stage. Sammi Moore Band – Lead singer Sammi Moore has been singin’ since three years old and recently performed on Nashville Star. Her band mixes Southern rock, bluegrass and country for genuine, fresh soundSean Smith – Acoustic/folk rock/alternative sound who has shared the stage with John Mayer. Angel Snow – Music as light and beautiful as her name. This North Georgia singer/songwriter kicks off our “ladies night” at the Unum Stage with a fine flair. The Stratoblasters - Songs you know by heart. Steel Mill – Spin off of actual members of Bruce Springsteen’s first band. Reminiscent of Asbury Park rock-n-roll.Tabernacle – A mix of swing, add big band, rock and blues. Throw in contem-porary Christian sound, and praise and worship and you have a band comprised of musicians from 12 churches and 6 different denominations as well as music to get your toes tappin’!Taylor Templin - Kid’s Talent Search contestant from ’07. Don’t miss!T-Broussard & Zydeco Steppers – Zydeco music plus willing dancers equals an evening of nonstop Cajun fun…any questions?Paul Thorn – Nobody enjoys being in front of a crowd more than Paul Thorn. All of his songs seem to emanate from deep into his soul, and whether they make you laugh or make you cry, they are always delivered with a punch and a smile.Toubab Krewe – Riverbend should have a contest to see who could most accu-rately describe this band at the end of its show on fireworks night. Define all categories, Toubab Krewe is in demand in virtually every city at virtually every music festival in America. You figure it out.Tiffany Lynn – Bad girl country.Trombone Shorty – This brilliant young man exudes confidence and has every reason to. He is the face, voice, and sound of a resurgent New Orleans music scene. There has never been a musician that has played this instrument like this before.Tulsi – Featuring a local sitar whiz, Tulsi is Chattanooga’s own East Indian fla-vored musical outfit. From transcendent to resplendent, they kick off a night of world music on the Unum stage. Josh Turner – Grammy award winning platinum certified country artist, this fast rising star has had numerous hits including “Your Man”, "Would You Go With Me" and his latest hit “Firecracker”. University Orchestra – Heeding the pleas of fans of orchestral music, our local university’s under-appreciated orchestra will loan us a brass quintet and string quartet for an evening of unusually fine listening.Vince Stalling – Uses various genres of music styles from traditional gospel, hymns, gospel blues and praise and worship to point people’s hearts toward God.Tabitha Weast & Yee-Won Liew – Two of the finest dancers from Chattanooga’s own Center Stage dance group.Shannon Whitworth – The heart-melting voice of North Carolina’s biscuit burners goes solo. Shannon’s new five-piece band brings mountain music that aches and shouts from Ashville to Chatt-Town.Wax Fang - Glam-rock, pop and surf music. Within the Eddy – This rock and alternative metal band from L.A. takes their name from the word eddy which means a current of energy running contrary to main current, yet they insist that definition in itself is limiting of their sound. Mike Zito – “Straight ahead” Rock-n-Roll.ZZ Top – Does the band really need any explanation, introduction, or definition? The original “lil’ ole’ band from Texas turned into 80’s monster hit machine, “Can’t Stop Rockin”, “Cheap Sunglasses”, “Sharp Dressed Man”, “Gimme All Your Lovin”. They’ll have you shakin’ your “Tush”!

Performer DirectoryGeoff Achison & The Souldiggers – After winning every possible award available to a blues musician in the land “down under”, this Australian guitar whiz brings his incredible chops and seasoned voice that belies his youth to the American South. Australia’s loss is our gain.Golden Gears – Southern indie rockGreencards – When one thinks of Australia, one doesn’t normally think of bluegrass music. That will all change after one viewing of the Greencards on stage. A non-traditional approach to the South’s most revered art form, the Greencards own every crowd that’s lucky enough to see them perform. Crowd favorite at the Four Sisters Festival last year.Anthony Hamilton – Over the last three decades, several young urban singers have been labeled “the new Marvin Gaye”. Anthony is clearly the only vocalist in America today capable of pulling the sword from the Neo-Soul stone.Fareed Haque – Formerly of Festival favorite Garage Mahal, Fareed’s furious Asian-tinged technical virtuosity is now unleashed on a solo path. The only thing Riverbend has seen like this in recent years was Al Dimeola’s smoking set on the Unum stage two years ago.Harvey Brown – Piano stylist.Heather Bateman - Born & raised in the Chattanooga area, Heather will inspire you with her Christian songsHonky Dogs – Local Chattanooga-based rock-n-roll folk heroes.Summer Hullender – Chattanooga’s own country diva.

And he hasn’t lost one drop of his vocal power or stage presence, hit after hit after hit.Futureman and the Black Mozart Ensemble – One of the most enigmatic figures in modern music, Bella Fleck’s “drummer” expands his own experi-mental approach to percussion to a full ensemble of vigorous musical diversity. It is GUARANTEED that you have never seen or heard anything like this before. Or will again.Galactic – After years of attempts, the Riverbend crew finally lassoed New Orleans Jazz/Funk giants Galactic and bring them to the Riverfront. Like moe. last year, there’s too much music for just one set. Galactic will jam the night away like no other on fireworks night.Gene’s Jam – Legendary annual jam session put together by Gene Norman.

than the previous one. These ladies’ takes on classic American material soar to heights rarely achieved by the human voice. Rodney Atkins – Country music delivered on a silver platter. Lyrics that touch the soul, and a voice that can melt the heart. Through his music, you will see the American Dream. Riverbend to pay homage to their musical idols. Caution: will cause dancing. The Black Crowes – Riding a second wave of raw rock revival, the Black Crowes return to Chattanooga with their roots still deep in Humble Pie-Stones territory, and their head high in the clouds of modern, guitar-drenched glory. This critical favorite is probably the best blues-rock performer in America today that you’ve never heard of…and that’s about to change.Corinne Chapman – An up-and-coming country music singer/songwriter, she’s a must see!Alex Chilton Trio – Legendary leader of the Sixties cult band, the Box Tops and indie favorite Big Star, wrote “The Letter” and “Cry Like a Baby”. Since then, has produced many hit music projects. Julius Curcio – Americana and pop-folk music at its best.Danger Kitty – 80’s and 90’s pop.David Walters Trio with Kathy Tugman - A returning Riverbend act, Tugman and her crew mix piano vocal with country, blues and guitar pop to create a relaxing listening experience. Why, you launch your own solo career with an eclectic mix of Americana, Bluegrass, and Blues and storytelling that critics dubbed “hillbilly Jazz”. A legend! The Derailers – All country music does not come from Nashville! These Austin-based Alt/Country heroes proudly bear the standard of “Texas Twang” across the Tennessee line. If Buck Owens liked him, you should too. The Dismembered Tennesseans – Chattanooga, Tennessee’s equivalent to a bluegrass Mount Rushmore. These seasoned professionals have played with just about everybody you can name in the genre, and we're proud to have them kick off a night solely devoted to bluegrass on the South’s most unique stage.
