General Competition Rules: 1. Nail competitions are open to all beauty professionals and current students qualified to perform nail services. 2. Division 1 Novice is for students only. 3. Division 2 is for all professional nail technicians and has gained the nail competition award previously. 4. Competitors and models are responsible for understanding and complying with the following competition rules. Failure to comply may result in point deduction or disqualification at the discretion of the nail competition staff. 5. The rules will be reviewed in a mandatory briefing scheduled 15 minutes before the start of each competition. The nail competition staff reserves the right to final interpretation of these rules. 6. General Competition Rules:

will result in a deduction of 5 points in the category of overall.

11. Competitors must report at the scheduled report time.

12. Once the briefing starts, competitors may NOT touch their models until the competition starts. Failure to comply

will result in disqualification.

13. Competitors and/or models may NOT leave the competition area without the permission of the competition staff.

Failure to comply will result in disqualification.

14. All work must be completed by the registered competitor. If HKPNU finds the rule has been violated, the

competitor will be prohibited from competing in any HKPNU run competition for the period of one year.

15. When a competition ends, competitors are NOT allowed to touch their models again until after they have been

judged. Failure to comply will result in disqualification.

16. When a competition ends, models may NOT leave the competition area until excused by the competition staff.

17. Competitors must promptly clean their work stations before leaving the competition area.

Mix Media Boxed Nail Art

Rules: 1. Theme is <Free >. 2. Shape is free, and length is 8cm and less, height is 9cm and less. 5. Wrapped box should not be more than width 20cm, length 20cm, height 10cm 6. All tips must put inside the clear wrapped box 7. Themes and art explained and submitted on a A5 size provided by committee. There will be a

5-point deduction if not to do so. 8. Every entry work should use materials used in nail art (acrylic, gel, airbrush, paint, hologram,

Rhine stone, silk, bids etc.) 9. Embellishments or adornments may be used, but must NOT exceed 25% of the overall design. 10. Competitors may NOT use any copyrighted art, designs or logos. 11. Any design that wins, or has already won, first place at a NAIL competitions cannot be reused

by the winner or copied by other competitors in subsequent nail competitions. Competitors may NOT use any copyrighted art, designs or logos. The nail competition staff will disqualify any design it considers too similar to a winning design.

Manicure Art

Rules: 1. Theme is <Free >. 2. Fantasy Nail Art

Rules: 1. Free style on theme. 2. Model costume, hair, make up must be completed prior to the competition. 3. Glue tips on hands and parts on tips must be performed during the competition. 4. The base color may be coated prior to the competition. 5. Nails must be incorporated into the design. They may NOT serve only as a base. There will

be a 10-point deduction if nails are not incorporated into design. 6. Competitors must prepare and submit a written statement in two parts—One detailing the

products and processes used to create the art (do NOT name specific brands or manufacturers), and one telling the story of your interpretation of the theme. Failure to do so will result in a five-point deduction in overall score.

7. You must finish during the competition. (NO Parts allowed) 8. Both Flat art (Illustration, airbrush) and 3D art (emboss) must be used. 9. All nail art must be made primarily from professional nail products (colored liquid-and-powder

acrylic, light-cured gel, wraps and resin, polish, rhinestones, etc.). 10. For 3D art, you must use liquid-and-powder acrylic, light-cured gel. 11. The nail extension is allowed prior to the competition. (Sculpture, Tip, Place-on tip) 12. Rhinestone or lame allowed. 13. NO drill machines allowed. 14. NO reference materials allowed during the competition. 15. Embellishments may be used, but must NOT exceed 25 percent of the overall design. 16. Models will stand during the judging process and must be able to walk in costume without

assistance. 17. Props may be included as part of the costume, but must be smaller than the model. No

additional consideration will be given to handmade costumes and/or props. 18. Any Fantasy Nail Art design that wins, or has already won, first place at competition cannot be

reused by the winner or copied by other competitors in subsequent competitions. Competitors may NOT use any copyrighted art, designs or logos. The competition staff will disqualify any design it considers too similar to a winning design. Any discussion with the competition staff about designs will be held in strict confidence.

French Sculpture - Gel Rules: 1. Competition-style light-cured gel nail enhancements using forms., tips and adhesive are

allowed. 2. Model’s one hand will be completed during the competition. Model’s other hand must be

completely free from nail products prior to the competition. 3. Only light-cured gel products are allowed. 4. Only clear pink, cover pink, clear and white enhancement products can be used.

Enhancement products containing glitter and/or any other color are NOT allowed. 5. Nail bed: Free edge = 1:1 (the length of middle of nail bed : the length from the starting point

of the edge of smile line to the end of free edge) 6. Square shape 7. 5 marks will be deducted for any pre-existing damage to a model’s natural nails, cuticles, or

hands. 8. The model’s natural nails may be prepared for product application before the competition, but

product may NOT be applied until the competition starts. 9. Competitors may lay out forms before the competition, but paper and metal forms must be flat

and Teflon forms must be in original condition. Forms may NOT be altered or applied until the competition starts.

10. No products, such as inverted tips or any “cookie cutter” products may be used to form or assist in making a smile line. All smile lines must be done with a brush by hand.

11. Dowels and pinching tong is allowed. 12. All files and buffers must be clean and unused; electric files, chamois buffers and buffing

products,oil, top coat, ridge filler or any chemical products for shine may NOT be used. 13. Water only may be used to remove dust. No canned air is allowed. Cleansing products

(soaps, etc.) and moisturizing products (oils, creams, lotions, etc.) are NOT allowed. Competition Time: 90 minutes Nov 15, 2019 10:00am - 11:30am

Flat Art Tip Design Rules:

1. 5 tips will be provided by the organizer prior to competition. 2. The length of the tips for #0 – 4.5cm, #1 – 4.3cm, #2 – 4.2cm, #3 – 4cm, #4 – 3.8cm 3. The tips sharp cannot be modified 4. Free theme 5. Only acrylic nail paint is allowed. 6. Glitters, holograms, rhinestones cannot be used. 7. Nail polish can be used as base and top. 8. Any design that wins, or has already won, first place at competition cannot be reused by the winner or copied by other competitors in subsequent competitions. Competitors may NOT use any copyrighted art, designs or logos. The competition staff will disqualify any design it considers too similar to a winning design. Any discussion with the competition staff about designs will be held in strict confidence.

Rules: 1. Model's nails must be natural. 2. Only light-cured gel nail enhancements is allowed. 3. Competitors will have to complete two hands for model. 4. Nail Shape must be square prior to competition. 5. Nail Shape must be round after the competition. 6. The length of nails does not matter. 7. Nails must not be cared at least 7 days. Otherwise will deduct 10 marks from the final score. 8. Nail nipper must be used. 9. Finish the hands with gel. Polish on the free edge is necessary. 10. Only Red color gel can be used. Gel with glitter or pearl is not allowed. 11. Top gel must be used. 12. Electric drill machine is not allowed. 13. All tools and products must be organized, sterilized, and labeled. 14. No consideration will be given for any pre-existing damage to a model’s natural nails, cuticles,

or hands. Otherwise will deduct 5 marks from the final score.
