2014 DINNER MENU For those who like their dining experience steeped in tradition, we might be the place. The spectacular setting will overwhelm you. The Gelston House looks as buffed and pampered as a big old riverboat steaming up the Connecticut River. Enter a portal of history as you enter the door of this building. Records indicate that as early as 1736 there was a tavern on the site. Shipbuilding, military enlistment, rum running and other activities have all been centered in the variety of establishments on this site. Buildings and their uses came and went until 1853 when the basic structure that exists today was built.

This companion building to the Goodspeed Opera House now houses a 125-seat restaurant, 6 guest rooms, and function halls that provide a perfect setting for celebratory receptions or business group meetings. The Gelston House has a perfect location; the setting on the scenic Connecticut River next to the Goodspeed Opera House

Pricing is based on the time of your event as well the day of your wedding. A 20% gratuity, plus sales tax (6.35%) will be added to your final price. Deposits are also

required to secure all dates. There is a minimum of 80 people for evening weddings

OPEN BAR:

Open bar runs for five hours and includes well brands and top shelf liquor. House wine is served with dinner and a champagne toast for all.

COCKTAIL HOUR:

Depending on the weather, cocktail hour can be served outside on the patio. A section of the patio is designated for the wedding guests to enjoy cocktails and hors d’oeuvres by the Connecticut River.

KID FRIENDLY:

Not only are the adult guests important but also the little ones. Our staff loves children and will find ways to accommodate. We have a children’s menu. You can either pre-order or the kids can order the day of your special event. We offer chicken tenders, grilled cheese, hamburgers, and pasta either plain or with tomato sauce. We also have high chairs and booster seats as well.

DINNER MENU:

Your reception will have four courses in addition to the hors d’oeuvres during cocktail hour. We accommodate guests who have allergies or have special food requests. We serve freshly baked bread or rolls with butter during your meal. Below are the options we have for you to select from

HORS D’OEUVRE DISPLAYS: In addition to butler-passed hors d’oeuvres, we do offer displays. Stations would be set up with the type of display chosen. The displays are priced $5.00 per person, per hour:

Cold Hors d’oeuvres: Harvest Table: a colorful display of crisp raw vegetables with dip

Cheese & Crackers: an assortment of imported and domestic cheeses as well as assorted crackers Fruit Table: seasonal fruits

Cold Cuts: platter with meats such as pepperoni, salami, roast beef, pastrami, and more depending on the season or if you have a preference

DESSERT: If you are looking for a beautiful wedding we suggest Creative Cake by Donna. After the cake is cut we finish the cutting and plating of the cake. We serve with a scoop of ice cream. Coffee and tea is offered during dessert. We can also do a dessert station where we can put out different types of desserts. Either you can supply the sweets or we can. Just have a chat with the coordinator and you can figure out exactly what we can do to make your wedding even sweeter.

RECOMMENDATIONS: Having a wedding is more then just picking the venue. We know that there are so many options to pick from. If you need any recommendations on entertainment, centerpieces or anything else, do not hesitate to ask your coordinator for a list of references. All of the people who are on this list have helped couples in achieving their dream wedding. INN: The Gelston House also offers four rooms that may be rented for guests overnight. Rates often change, so if you believe you may need rooms, ask the coordinator to book the amount of rooms you may need to lock in the rate at the day of your booking. We can help you with making your wedding the wedding of your dreams. If your wedding has a color scheme we can find linen that matches. We can also put on chair covers and bows on each chair. Please talk to the coordinator if you are interested in these options. Pricing can be discussed then.

BRIDAL SUITE: As the bride, let yourself be pampered in the privacy of our bridal suite. You and your bridesmaids will prepare for your big day in comfort and luxury. Have your hair and makeup stylist take care of all your beauty needs at The Gelston House EXCLUSIVITY:

We know that your wedding day is the one of the most memorable days in your life, and we intend on making it all about you. We never have more than one wedding during the time period of your wedding.

TASTING: Once you’ve booked your wedding, we would love it if you came in for a tasting of our food so that we can help you in picking which menu options you’d like. The day you book your wedding, the wedding coordinator will put in a reservation just so that we can order the food we may not have. WEDDING ASSISTANT: The wedding will come up before you even know it. Here at the Gelston House you will have your very own wedding assistant. Your wedding assistant (also the coordinator) will assist you with all the questions and concerns you may have and be there for you every step of the day. The wedding assistant will make sure all the last minute details are all set and make sure your dream wedding is a great success
