Describing the judgment “though late but right” Mirwaiz said though it took a lot of time and justice loving people especially the family members of the victims had to bear enormous mental pain throughout this period. However, he said the verdict would prove very helpful to put an end to such inhuman crimes in Kashmir. Mushtaq- ul-Islam re-arrested Srinagar, Apr 24: The chief of Muslim League Jammu Kashmir Mushtaq- ul-Islam was rearrested last night, his party handout said. “The police party raided the residential house of Mushtaq for search. People from various walks of life have condoled the demise. Srinagar, Apr 24: Hundreds of casual laborers working in Tourism Department Kash- mir are up in arms against the department for failing to pay their wages. A delegation of Casual laborers Friday demand- ed full payment of their earned wages which according to them have been withheld for more than ten months. They added that authori- ties have been delaying the process of releasing their withheld salaries for the reasons best known to them. “We along with our families are facing immense hardships due to non-release of our remu- neration by the authori- ties. We are at the verge of starvation,” they said. They said that they had been delivering their duties honestly and sincerely. “Instead of encouraging and hailing our work, authorities are discouraging us by with- holding our earned wages,” they added. “If our wages are not released by April 30 we will stage protest with our fami- lies in front of Chief Minis- ter’s residence,” they threat- ened. They appealed Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed who also holds the portfolio of Tourism Minis- try to personally intervene in the matter and direct con- cerned officials to release their salaries without any further delay. RE 003 Barred from offering Friday prayers Srinagar, Apr 24: The Hurriyat Con- ference (G) Chairman Syed Ali Gee- lani who is under house arrest since Thursday evening was barred from offering Friday prayers along with other leaders including Muham- mad Ashraf Sehrai, Ayaz Akbar and Altaf Ahmad Shah by the police. Condemning the restrictions on offering Friday prayers, the Hurri- yat spokesman Ayaz Akbar, in a statement alleged that New Delhi was not only suppressing the political rights of Kashmiris but also preventing them perform- ing their religious duties. “This process of interfer- ence in the religious affairs of people will further aggra- vate the already disturbed situation in the state,” he added. “Geelani Sahib returned from New Delhi on April 15, and his period of house detention started from April 16. It was the second time that he stopped from offering the Friday prayers today. Although police force was lifted from the residence of Geelani Sahib on April 18, this free- dom proved temporary and on the evening of April 23, a huge police contingency was deployed around his residence and was informed that he could not move out from his house, “ the spokesman said, adding “Mufti Muhammad Sayeed had claimed to face the Geelani Sahib and other pro-freedom leaders on the political turf and he had also talked about giving them political space but he accepted his defeat prior to the start of the contest and ran away from the field. Mufti Sahab has started to follow the same path as that of Omar Abdullah.” “Meanwhile, the people, on the call of Geelani, today protested against the slap- ping of PSA on Masarat Alam Bhat and his shifting to the notorious Kotbilwal Jail. A huge protest rally led by Hurriyat leader Muham- mad Yousuf Mir was held at Zaindar Mohalla Habba Kadal here,” the spokes- man said, adding that “The detention of Masarat Alam Bhat under the PSA is the worst kind of state terror- ism and it has no legal or moral justifications.” Meanwhile, Geelani has reiterated his call for shut- down on Saturday. Srinagar, Apr 24: The incar- cerated Ameer of Muslim Deeni Mahaz (MDM) Dr Qasim today said the arrest of Masrat Alam under PSA “could neither weaken the peoples’ sen- timents for Pakistan in Kashmir and nor could it weaken the stand of pro-freedom leadership.” “Mufti Syed has left behind Sheikh Abdullah and Ghulam Muhammad Sadiq in being the advocates of the Indian cause and anti- Kashmir. From 1947 to 1953, Sheikh Abdullah government used to put people in jail for listen- ing to radio Pakistan. While in the government of Ghulam Muham- mad Sadiq, people were jailed for pro-Pakistan posters and now Mufti is jailing people for raising pro-Pakistan slogans,” Dr Qasim said in a handout. “It shows that the claims of Indian rulers about India being a world power and a strong democ- racy are farce. By all practical means India is worried about the fragility of its geographical entity and political writ,” he added. Srinagar, Apr 24: A high level delega- tion of Dukhta- ran- e- Millat led by its chairperson Syeda Aasiya Andrabi today visited Tral to pay homage to the recently killed youth duo: Khalid Muzzafar and Muhammad Younis. Therefore we have to reply this aggression in a multi- dimensional way. Only then we can succeed in this strug- gle,” the spokesperson quoted Aasiya as saying, adding that “Khalid Muzzafar is the sixth martyr in his family but even then the resolve of this family has grown stronger.” NAME CHANGE I intend to change the name of my son in school records which has wrongly been mentioned as JUNID MASOOD QAZI instead of QAZI JUNID MASOOD S/o QAZI MASOOD R/o Lar Ganderbal.
