Client Focus:Driven by the Spirit of InnovationGECI Airports and Systems

Design and Construction of aircraft landing and take-off runways is more then what it seems, in many cases, GECI has been very client aware is often ready to provide solutions most relevant to the needs of the client, taking in to consideration not only the value of the project to the contractor, but also the overall gains and satisfaction of the contractor. Taking into account the experience GECI have had with numerous commercial and non-commercial relation with airport operators worldwide, GECI acknowledges one simple fact –the airports operational reliability.

The increase in aircraft congestion and the advent of large, high-speed, jet-powered aircraft which are economical to operate only over long distances and which require expensive airport facilities has made the use of aircraft with STOL (Short Take Off and Landing) capabilities, flying relatively short routes and able to land close to the desired destination (particularly in major urban areas), increasingly attractive. Development is proceeding on more versatile and quieter aircraft with augmented STOL capabilities, and through the years, we have received and studied proposals for networks of

STOL routes and associated STOL-ports in Spain, the European Union and other countries. The proposed construction of airports specifically designed for use by STOL aircraft and located close to the centre of urban areas has stimulated consideration of the several features which such airports should possess to make them practical, economically viable, and useable under a variety of conditions.

Heavy civil works and precision earth engineering. An airport runway has a grid structure for supporting aircraft during take-off and landing. The grid structure extends over a liquid reservoir and comprises bars defining the areas between spacings extending downwardly through the grid structure and in open communication with the reservoir, which has means, e.g. expansible chambers, for raising the level of liquid in the reservoir through and above the grid structure to remove snow and ice from the latter. Barriers around, and above the level of, the grid structure confine the liquid.

STOL aircraft rely upon critical performance factors to achieve short landing rolls and take-off runs. The performance capabilities of the aircraft require precise control of the aircraft systems by a well-qualified and capable crew in order to achieve safe operation. It is desirable that an airstrip specifically designed for use by STOL airplanes have safety and performance characteristics which augment and complement the aircrafts' capabilities, and which assist in achieving safe consistent operation under diverse weather conditions and environmental situations.

Because a STOL aircraft's major advantage is a capability to land and to lift off in a short distance, braking ability and rolling resistance become critical performance factors which must be of a consistent value. Accordingly, a STOL-port should be able to guarantee these physical properties within acceptable limits despite adverse weather conditions. It also is advisable that a STOL-port possess arresting mechanisms which can bring an aircraft to a safe stop without it leaving the airport boundaries and with a minimum of damage, should failure or error cause an overshoot on landing or an aborted take-off. Under the maximum performance conditions of a STOL aircraft touchdown or take-off, it also is advantageous if the runway provides additional directional stability over and above the steering mechanisms of the airplane itself. In incorporating these features, the runway surface

also should be capable of being easily and quickly cleaned of precipitation such as rain, snow or ice and of contamination such as fuel and dirt, so as to ensure consistent reliability of aircraft operations.

Specialization and customization is a premium in most cases, and this has been one of the major factor why airports are designed from initial to cater to its limits of operation which more often results in total project abandonment.

GECI began in the aviation industry as a company which focuses on the airports primary client, the aircraft. Through the years, GECI has progressed from an aircraft parts supplier to now Spain’s lead single source airline operator supplier. The industry has been in GECI’s mind since the company’s inception over three decades ago.

Our brief discussion on STOL-port is an example scenario highlighting on our customer and industry centric policies. Over the years our company has structured and refined our capabilities to hone down on every aspects and fundamental requirements specific to airport operations, with that belief and policies instilled throughout GECI’s system, is where we find the promise to our clients.

Modelling through real-life parameters and attributes At GECI Airports and Engineering, our team disects from over 20 years worth of project and operational data to create a simulation model of the airport construction and operational parameters, this labourous task not only ensure that we could achieve the project but also identify design and primarily operational issues.

Combination of best-in-class management capabilities in the industry through integration know how driven by shared knowledgeGECI Airports and SystemsFrom inception, the company founders have designed and structured a commercial system unique even for the current time.

As a company, GECI operates through one key principle, that is to deliver projects not only as the client

wants it, but as operational and as effective as possible. GECI is structured from within the group having specialization in all areas of the aviation industry, from basic electrical systems, aviation security solutions, radio system, radar and navigational aids, airfield lighting, weather technology, and right through advanced structural engineering.

Through GECI’s decades of operation, the company has established subsidiaries, technology partners and developments units whom are autonomous but proactive and is an immediate resource to the group when the goings get tough.

Client awarenessand open knowledge sharingGECI Airports and Systems In the global-trend of air-travel, it is a known fact that an airport is a key revenue center for a country, its vitality is on par with the country’s national resource and national exports, we take this economic understanding and always pursue to reflect this as much as possible into our final design of our airport and proposals, and through our experience, the operational reliability of the designs has its effects influence not only human emotion, yet also the country’s economy.

Achieving this is not a simple measure, it takes decades of learning and consciousness to our clients. As of today, our airport systems has been structured to create one of Europe’s best emerging player in this sector.

Our stringent policy on listening to clients need first, and the compliments of our effort in sharing our knowledge-base from our decades of experience from dealing with operators has been the fundamentals in the creation GECI’s airport unit, our goal of becoming a leader in infrastructure management and operations is realized year by year as we kept delivering your dreams.

Every project that GECI takes into perspective, we take into considerations mainly in the responsibility that GECI would have over it. This is material in keeping to our promise, as when we set our resources to undertake a project, our

minds are set to one goal, deliverance with satisfaction, a tall order for many.

Strategy is the key word, GECI beliefs in the fundamentals of engineering, breaking up big problems into smaller delegations and later combining it to form the big solution. This understanding is not only reflected in our proposals but also in our everyday working environment.

GECI as a company is formed out of many subsidiaries and technology partners worldwide which ultimate forms Grupo GECI an amorphous project management mechanism which has been structured over the last three

decades to cater and provide extensive deliverables to the whole spectrum of the aviation industry, from the aircrafts, support systems, airports, airports equipments and also the maintenance of it. GECI’s innovation in collaborative commercial system is often seen by many as what a consortium should be, yet we have proven one thing, GECI is not the monopolizing consortiums many are weary to deal with.

Truly GECI’s founders has found the perfect formula in creating a global commerce concept which is ever presence and sustainable, a supportive global partner with your future in mind.

In-depth review:KHARTOUM INTERNATIONALGECI Airports and Systems

In the pages following is a review on the KNIA airport project. Through our recent presentation, we are obliged to inform our local counterparts in Sudan these findings. Our experienced analysis have digested project master plans, and have included the current parameters of the socio-economic status of Sudan, whilst taking in-depth consideration of the financial requirements and availability, the conclusion has been made that KNIA is a very plausible project, provided that we take our realistic compromise and build for today, but ready for tomorrow.

Our immediate findings has included several revisions to the original master-plan developed by Dorsch Consulting Group in 2004, we acknowledge it’s forward thinking and global perspective, yet in our opinion and review, we has established that the master-plan is a showcase rather then an operational masterpiece.

Consecutively, our team will review and engaged with the authorities in Sudan for the sheer purpose of realizing this project, a project that we feel would become one of Sudan key landmark for years to come. GECI is obliged to participate, and share our know-hows, realistic

views, and thus realizing this for Sudan.
