Allgemeine Hinweise

Quality made by Gebhardt is the result of a strictly pursued quality strategy.Gebhardt-Products have to offer features and properties which are above the averagevalues of comparable products. This policy, applied since the foundation of the company, lead to a quality audit and a firstcertification in April 1985. Since this date the Gebhardt quality system has been followingthe updates of the ISO standards. Most modern production procedures and a quality policy defined and checked by aquality management team make sure that the products achieve the specified data.Close tolerances make sure that catalogue data are met.

Quality Management SystemDIN EN ISO 9001

Gebhardt roof units are usable machines in the sense of the EU Machine and Low VoltageGuidelines. They are identified with the CE Sign and supplied with an EU Declaration ofConformity. An assessment of the dangers associated with the fans and the necessary engineeringsafety measures can be arrived at with the help of the VDMA Unit Sheet 24 167 Fans:Safety requirement. The Operating Instructions give which safety measures are still necessary on assembly toensure that the fans comply with the EU Machine Guideline 98/37/EG.

Notes onMachine Safety

We may modify the technical data or dimensions of these catalogue products in the caseof further improvements. All data in this catalogue are those valid at the date of printing.

Catalogue data

Safety Guards All roof units are supplied with a discharge-side mesh safety guard in accordance withDIN EN 294.The inlet side is not fitted with a standard guard, because it is normal practice to attachother system parts of the side. However, if the unit is installed in such a way that accidental contact with the impeller ispossible, an additional inlet guard can be supplied as an accessory.

Technical Description

Type DA

with radial discharge perfectly suitablewhen the air to be extracted is only slightlyimpure, max. temperature + 40°C.Of robust construction, large overhangingrain-guard top, they are fitted with centri-fugal impellers with backward curved bladesdesigned to give optimum flow. A protectingguard is fitted on each extractor.

Centrifugal roof extractors DA

Type DAV

with vertical discharge, recommended inparticular for extraction of gases orcontaminated air max. temperature + 40°C.The air is extracted and dischargedvertically at high speed mixing with theatmosphere mainly above the roofs. Thus, fouling and staining of the roofs isavoided. Of modern design, they are fitted with highefficiency backward curved centrifugalimpellers. A protecting guards is fitted oneach unit.

Centrifugal roof extractors DAV

Type DH

supply or discharge horizontal cowl withoutimpeller, mainly used as terminal cowl inmechanical ventilation installations or forlocal natural ventilation.

Roof ventilation cowl DH

Type DV

supply or discharge vertical cowl withoutimpeller. Similar use as that of the DH.Due to restricted air flow, load losses areoverall higher than for the DH.

Roof ventilation cowl DV

Restistance to corrosion and weather isobtained by using materials such asaluminium and galvanised sheet. Increasedsurface protection is obtained by Gebhardtanti-corrosion treatment.

Technical description

Motors DA/DAVDriving of the impellers is by external rotor motors. These motors are to IP 44 protection, insulation class B. Ball bearings, chosen for their low sound level, guarantee ling life.Precision balancing ensure operating free from vibration. Permissible ambient temperature is+ 40 °C.All motors, with the exception of explosion proof are protected against heat over-loads bycoil thermocontacts. These are connected in the drive circuit of the protection apparatus, andcut the motor when the limit temperature of the winding is reached and guarantee, thus, thebest protection possible (see connecting diagrams).

The use of magneto-heat thermal switch breakers is not necessary. The terminal box which iseasily accessible is under the removable cowl. Explosion proof units are fitted with a looselead 700 to 900 mm in length.

All units with speed control are marked on the page of technical data by a x. The variation inspeed is attained by supply voltage reduction.

Explodsion proof units: ex Roof units meet the provisions VDMA 24 169 relating to ex: material and are intended forzone 1 and 2 explosive atmospheres, temperature class T3.

Sound level The sound pressure level indicated is that shown above the roof at 4 metres from the geometriccentre of the DA roof units. For models DAV the values are 2 dB(A) lower.

The sound power radiating on the inlet side of the DA unit can be defined as follows:LpA = dB (A) according to the table. For the overall sound power level add + 26 to the tabulated figure. For the weighted sound power level add + 18 to the tabulated figure. For the octave band sound power spectrum add the values listed below to the tabulatedfigure. For roof units models DAV these values increase by 2 dB.

Mean Hz fm 63 125 250 500 1000 2000 4000 8000 Hz

Correction Lwrel 13 23,5 18,5 15 9 8 3 –1 dB

Influence of automatic closing flap:

Turbulence generated by backdraught shutters will increase the sound level approximately 2 dB.

Isolator ESH 21DesignBeautifully shaped, shock-resistantplastic casing in white, with a red switchhandle, backed by a yellow plate.Protection class IP 44/65, for surfacemounting, switching symbols 0 and I.The isolator conforms to EN 60204 /DIN VDE 0113 for emergency offswitches. It is fitted with connectionterminals that are very accessible andhas a connection diagram glued in thecasing.

The ESH 21 up to 3 KW is designed toIP 44 and contains a key switch, thekey of which is removable when in the0-position.

The ESH 21 above 5,5 KW is designedto IP 65. It is equipped with a couplingcover and an integrated lockingmechanism. A padlock can in somecases be fitted to the rotary switch.

FunctionThe isolator disconnects the fan safelyfrom the mains in the event of cleaning, maintenance or repair work on site andthus avoids accidents due to uncon-trolled activation of the unit by thirdparties. In doing so, it significantly facilitates thework for the service personnel.

All of the classified isolators are fittedwith potential-free contacts (1 closerand 1 opener).

The isolators for motors with a built-inthermal contact have on principle threesupplementary auxiliary contacts, sothat the pre-switched control devicedoes not drop out during cleaning orservicing work due to motor.

Motor protection unit for motors withfitted thermal contacts

DesignBeautifully shaped, two-tone plasticcasing made of shock resistant polysty-rol, protection class IP 54.All units are suitable for wall mountingand include: hand switches for frontaloperation, operational signal lamp andcontrol safety accessible from outside.Permissible ambient temperature:40 °C.

FunctionShould the motor winding temperaturerise excessively, the imbedded motorwinding thermalcontact will open thecontrol circuit, causing the mains relayto drop out and thus disconnect themotor from the mains supply. The motor will also be turned off in thecase of a mains-side dropout of thecontrol phase, as well as if the contactsfail or if the mains supply is interrupted. The motor protection units are notequipped with an automatic re-power-on after a mains voltage failure and arethus fail-safe.After the motor windings have cooleddown, a lock-out device in the relay cir-cuit prevents the motor from switchingitself on. The hand switch must first bemomentarily turned to the 0-positionand then back to the ‘on’ position. The operational signal lamp indicatesthe operation of the motor. It goes outin the case of a malfunction. The motor protection units are suitablefor group switching, i. e. several motorswith the same switching can be con-nected to a common switchingdevice. The sum of the motors’ rated powermay not exceed the maximal devicerated power. The thermal contacts of allmotors are to be switched in series.

Speed setting transformatic5-step, with casing

DesignCompletely plastic casing in protectionclass IP 54, Type: ETH 31 and 35.Painted metal casing in protection classIP 23 from ETH 36-0040-8D and ETH36-0200-5E.All units are suitable for wall mountingand include; speed control via handswitch with 0-position and 5 switchingsteps, operating signal lamp, 230 V-output for e. g. a solenoid valve. An ILA(motor-activated shutter) can even beconnected.(It is activated when the turn switch isturned from position “0” to “1”).

Permissible ambient temperature:–25 °C to +40 °C.

ETH 31These units include no motor protectionunit. Protection switches for thermalcontact connections are to be laid in theconductor between the control deviceand the motor. In Gebhardt externally-mounted rotor motors, the thermalcontacts are already bound into themotor winding.

ETH 35-/ETH 36These units possess a motor protectioninstallation for thermal contactconnection with a supplementarywarning signal lamp, a potential-freeexchanger and a room thermostat con-nection (remote on – off).

FunctionFor motors with built-in thermalcontacts, these open the controlcurrent circuit when the permissiblewinding temperature is exceeded. Thiscauses the main fuse to fall out anddisconnect the motor from the mains. After the motor winding has cooleddown (ca. 2 Min.) or after remedyingthe cause of the malfunction, respecti-vely, turn the main switch temporarily tothe 0-position and then back to theoperational position.
