BA Fine Art NUA BA2b Firstsite Proposal form 2018 DEADLINE FOR COMPLETED FORMS FRIDAY 20 th APRIL 12noon Upload to the VLE PART 1: YOUR WORK 1. Your name(s): Georgia Wightman Please give a brief description of the work you intend to realise at the venue and how it fit into the theme of IDENTITY (group or individual proposals will be welcomed): (maximum 100 words) I have a keen interest in combining satire and humour with art, whilst mocking the artificial nature of human beings. I have created a short humorous film, which presents two individuals, one with the head of a cheesy Wotsit and the other with the head of a chicken dipper. The film represents the unhealthy obsession over fake foods us humans have adopted to the point of addiction. The individuals in this short film have become the food themselves. This represents the control it has over our lives, happiness and identity in a humorous way. The satisfied smiling faces and laughter of the strange characters say something about how we rely on such things to keep us sane and satisfied with ourselves. This film also questions the boundaries of what is considered art and whether comedy deserves a place within a gallery space. Please give a brief description of the materials and processes of the proposed work (state whether it involves sound or light projection, requires mains electricity etc.) also if you have a specific type of space in mind: (maximum 100 words) The film will be presented on a cartoon-style, cardboard covered television. However, I would also be happy for it to be projected onto a wall if that would be more practical when it comes to transporting the work.

PART 1: YOUR WORK

1. Your name(s): Georgia Wightman

Please give a brief description of the work you intend to realise at the venue and how it fit into the theme of IDENTITY (group or individual proposals will be welcomed): (maximum 100 words)

I have a keen interest in combining satire and humour with art, whilst mocking the artificial nature of human beings.

Please give a brief description of the materials and processes of the proposed work (state whether it involves sound or light projection, requires mains electricity etc.) also if you have a specific type of space in mind: (maximum 100 words)

The film will be presented on a cartoon-style, cardboard covered television. However, I would also be happy for it to be projected onto a wall if that would be more practical when it comes to transporting the work.
