OSA occurs when the muscles in the back of the throat fail to keep the airway open resulting in a brief and repeated interruption during sleep. The WatchPAT Unified is an FDA-cleared portable sleep diagnostic system to diagnose sleep related disorders. In the case of Atrial Fibrillation, the risk of AFib recurrence following catheter ablation is greater than 50% in patients where OSA was undiagnosed and remained untreated. Where OSA has been diagnosed and correctly treated, AFib recurrence displays a similar risk to that of patients without OSA.
