How I am Details Teacher comments
Creating, organising and
developing my musical ideas
I began by creating an
ostinato for my Chinese
piece, using the pentatonic
scale (black notes only). I
chose a tune for this ostinatothat would be easy for a
melody to join over the top of
it.
Selecting and controlling
instruments and/or resources
As I wasnt sure what
instruments would fit well
with my piece, for now I had
just stuck to using the grand
piano as it would be easier in
the future to change to the
instruments I wanted.
Using structure and/or form
Using harmonic language and
accompaniment style to
communicate
I havent decided yet what
type of form I would like my
piece in but I think binary
form would fit best as I can
develop my ideas as my piece
develops

Then I added in my tune. I
tried to make a melody that
would be able to sing back, I
made it simple at first and as
I went onto idea B and A
again I would develop my
ideas adding variations.
Selecting and controlling
instruments and/or resources
I have still kept my
instrumentation to a grand
piano, but I think I will use a
Chinese erhu whenever I
have completed my piece.
Using structure and/or form
Using harmonic language and
accompaniment style to
communicate
I have decided to to keep this
at a binary form as I feel in
my second A section I will be
able to add more
instrumentation to make mypiece more developed and
make the texture thicker.

Whenever I had got my
melody to fit in with my
ostinato I then began to add
other instruments to make the
texture of my piece thicker
and to make a crescendo
throughout the piece.
Selecting and controlling
instruments and/or resources
To make my Chinese tune
have more of a Chinese feel
and running through it, used
the Asian kit, including
cymbals and drums.

As my piece plays I begin to
use more instruments to make
the dynamics of my piece
louder and to create more of a
Chinese feel to my piece.

Creating, organising and
developing my musical ideas
I firstly began to create my
first idea for my section A.
For this, I decided that I
would take this idea and
repeat it the second time with
a variation at the end of this
section so you can tell that
the piece has came to a new
section.
Selecting and controlling
instruments and/or resources
I worked on this piece on a
grand piano, I feel I will keep
it at this instrumentation as it
gives the piece a sense of

floating and dreaming.

For this piece I think I will
use binary form as I can have
a few ideas in my piece and
show off different variations
as my piece went on.

I then began to create my
middle section or my section
B. In this section I have
decided to use a runningscale of F and make
variations throughout this
piece. I used the idea that one
side was asking a question
with an answer, I feel this
was a good idea as it created

I have still kept my

feel it makes my piece seemmore professional.

I added chords into my piece
to match the melody. I

struggled with this as I had
never added chords into
something before. The chords
I limited myself too where
C,A and F.
